  1. Nice little sweep. Perhaps this team WILL in fact win more than 82 games.
  2. That's the point. Their track records indicate that it likely won't continue. Neither are the bad pitchers we've seen the last few weeks.
  3. However, both Lauer and Houser do have enough of a track record to lead me to believe they are both better than they have been the last month.
  4. Hiura manages to run into one once in a while, but it's extremely hard to justify striking out at a 50% clip, especially in a lineup full of free swingers. Cutch surely doesn't bring a lot to the table offensively any longer, but at least his 20% K rate is substantially more palatable than Hiura's.
  5. When your main DH choices are McCutchen's anemic offense, or Hiura's near 50% K rate, there isn't much that can be done. I fully expect at least another bat to be brought in at some point if this team truly has playoff aspirations.
  6. Ah yes, because it's definitely a given that he'd be putting up that same scantly above average .781 OPS in a Brewers uniform.
  7. I paid for DirectTV+ (AT&T TV+) last summer, at nearly $90 per month, just to watch Brewer games. I'll gladly pay for the Bally's app. I do agree that MLB really does a terrible job helping their fans watch in-market games.
  8. Yeah, I predict this will go poorly. But hopefully with Woodruff doing his rehab assignment, and Ashby predicted to not be down long, it will be a very short-term thing.
  9. The summer of 2020 sucked. I was just happy to have some baseball ... fake or not.
  10. I fear this thread is veering down a politically contentious path that it shouldn't. That said, the only response I have to this particular post is "Wow!" mixed with head-shaking disappointment.
  11. It's a pretty sorry list. Arenado has a player option, and Justin Turner and Evan Longoria have a club options. Then you're looking at guys like Jonathan Villar and Joey Wendle in the next tier. Maybe they could convince Didi Gregorius or Adam Frazier to play 3B? Joey Gallo is a better OF than a 3B, but he'd be another possibility.
  12. Wouldn't surprise me in the least if we see "2B Urias" in this team's lineup for the next 5-6 years either.
  13. Your idea of the word "imploded" and mine must be substantially different. Yes, pitch count is up, but he's given up a single run and two hits through 4 innings. "Effectively wild" may be a better way to describe his outing so far.
  14. While you are technically correct in this assertion, I think that most have used projections as the basis for their argument that the Brewers offense has underperformed, while the Cardinals have overperformed. Yes, projections are certainly not ironclad, but a lot of info does go into producing them.
  15. Granola-crazy brunettes?
  16. Everything I remember reading said the app was expected to be available sometime in June. Well, we are roughly 1/3 of the way through June, and nothing yet. Considering how shoddy of a company overall Sinclair seems to be, I'm not going to hold my breath.
  17. I understand the need for caution, but this has gotten over the top in my opinion. Adames can't be pleased that he wasn't in there last night. These decisions are theoretically costing the team wins now.
  18. Why in the Sam Hill wasn't Adames activated and in there last night? If he's good to go, play him!
  19. I agree. But while they may be able to make one or two incremental outside improvements to the lineup, we aren't going to see the offense itself improve drastically unless a handful of the current group begin performing better.
  20. Narvaez was doing just fine before going on the COVID IR. Hopefully it's a short stay for him. They need more from Wong at 2B, the tandem of Cain/Taylor in CF, and obviously Yelich in LF. It would be nice to have another solid bench bat available, but overall I'm pretty satisfied with what they have at the other positions once Adames, Narvaez, Renfroe and Urias are back playing regularly.
  21. The Cardinals are not an especially deep team, and they are old as well. They are currently getting several performances that defy projections and expectations of those players. I expect injuries to hit some of those older performers soon enough, and a few of the guys who are tearing the cover off the ball will come back down to earth. O'Neil was looking terrible before he got hurt. Not sure if he had some sort of nagging thing that was affecting his performance or not, but I don't know if it is necessarily safe to assume that he will look like last year's version when he comes back. His all-or-nothing approach already made him a prime negative regression candidate this season. It is simply possible that, like Hiura, the league has adjusted, and what we are seeing now is close to what he truly is.
  22. I would think Garcia, Gray, Erceg and Lazar hold substantially more value than a late 1st sandwich pick and an average MLB reliever would.
  23. Doubt they'd get it. Mancini is a solid hitter, but he is far from a game changer, and being in the last year of his deal, he's more -or-less a 30-year-old rental bat with limited defensive versatility. Not saying I wouldn't like to have him, but players like him typically don't fetch a ton at the trade deadline.
  24. I realize he ran into a game-winning HR recently, but Keston Hiura simply has a terrible approach that has made him a terrible hitter.
