  1. Heck of an approach by the offense today. Love to see it!
  2. Since the start of the 2017 season, the Brewers have won no more and no fewer than three games in their season series vs. the Dodgers in every single year--incredibly consistent. The Brewers are 1-2 against the Dodgers so far this year. Add that up, and we've got ourselves a series win in LA coming. Stone cold lock.
  3. It's good to be reminded who should not be even sniffing high-leverage situations...
  4. Both clubs are 9-1 in their last 10. A little cooldown isn't a crazy prediction. Heck, maybe we take a series!
  5. Counterpoint: When your offense isn't great, you routinely fail to do things like score runs when you have 2nd and 3rd on and no outs. Otherwise, one would have a better offense.
  6. @CheezWizHed re:QB situation, I like the idea of stashing a vet on the PS in theory. Ryan looked fairly washed last year, however, so who knows what he’s even thinking. He would be great as a mentor presence, though, since he knows the system so well and played in it at a high level. I think a Ryan pickup would be a great move. Wentz, on the other hand, would seem to me to have less value in the role of player-coach. From his perspective, though, I’d imagine LeFleur’s offense might be able to unlock some things for him that might just rehabilitate his career, if he could focus on staying within the architecture of the play design and just go out and execute. It’s all between the ears with that guy, in my opinion.
  7. You can’t have a patient take, this is the IGT!
  8. It’s preseason, but Jordan Love looked competent, and that’s a whole lot better than looking incompetent. So we’ve got that going for us…
  9. If there was ever a time for the Brewers to sweep a pretty beatable team, it would be now because the rest of the month looks, uh…rough.
  10. I mean, I’m not saying Canha is on the Jonathan Schoop trajectory or anything, but, he’s been kinda brutal in the early going…
  11. That’ll play. Makes me wish we had this pitching staff with next year’s club bringing on Black and Chourio with a healthy Mitchell. That might just be enough to make the brain trust hang on to Burnes this offseason. My goodness, the fights we’ll have on here…
  12. We are officially on positive run differential watch. Don’t screw this up, Chafin!
  13. So, can we just schedule some more Rockies series, or what? That’s a thing, right?
  14. As the Pirates hang 6 earned runs in 2 and 2/3rds on Spencer Strider of all people, I’m suddenly not super bummed about a split with them this weekend. Yikes.
  15. I mean, I get this sentiment, but the Brewers have been a top-10 team by wins since 2010 (we’re ranked 9th, in fact, a bit better than Houston). By any measure besides pennants (of which we have one, all-time), this is the most successful era in team history. It is not like the organizational approach has been self-evidently incorrect—it has been, in fact, wildly successful. The only small-market teams that have been at or above our level are the Guardians and Rays. So if someone wants to say we need to do an organizational self-scout and hold those two franchises up against what we’re doing as we look for marginal improvements, then ok, I’m with you. But if we think our problem is that we don’t build our teams like the Dodgers, Yankees, Braves, and Red Sox (and, to be clear, I’m not saying you’re doing this, @Bulldogboy), then we need to stay clear-eyed about what is truly possible. We can’t be bullet-proof everywhere, so the question is, where do we seek compromises? I’ve seen slugging teams that couldn’t buy competent pitching, and recently, we’ve had outstanding run-prevention and anemic offenses. It sucks, but that’s the nature of the beast for us.
  16. On the granular level, I can’t be too upset with this. If this result holds, the Crew would still be 7-3 in 10 games against the Pirates. That is about as good as you can ask for, even against a terrible team. Of course, the thing that drives you nuts is the overall context of an offense that has been moribund for weeks. The commentary about Canha and Santana being good eyes at the plate and good on base guys—and then going and striking out and not getting on base—while Adames continues his walking nightmare at the plate is just a tough watch right now. I don’t think the offense is as bad as they look recently, but then again, it’s getting late, and I remember thinking similar things the last two years. Might not be a bad time to just check box scores for a while and come back if/when they start heating up.
  17. Thank goodness…it’s weird to say we stole one when we outhit them by a county mile, but…
  18. I think Burnes has earned it, especially against the Pirates. If our ace can’t buckle down and get that out against that hitter, what are we even doing here?
  19. I mean. That third strike to Yelich is only controversial because the tv strike zone is comedically inaccurate at times. Yelich is a tall dude. That was practically belt-level. Gotta swing there.
  20. …or maybe one of those guys heads a little further north? Nah, probably just Nashville.
  21. This is what killed them down the stretch last year. They kept losing to bottom feeders, and their surprisingly solid numbers against playoff teams were entirely cancelled out. Can’t let that keep happening this year.
