  1. Woody taking the next step going deep into a game, he is really on a nice run. Sucks he gave up the Freeman dinger to tie it but we may have something here.
  2. 61 pitches through 6 innings - could easily happen. As long as it is close I would leave him in, all of the key relievers pitched last night and he is cruising right now. Give him a shot to finish it, it's not like you need to PH for him.
  3. I swore I was done with the NBA after watching Heat fans celebrate titles after bringing in Lebron and Bosh to join Wade. I am not sure if that was the first free agent super team but it really annoyed me that a team could be built like that. But this Bucks team has me enjoying the games again. I used to always watch the finals, it was just a fun early summer event that was always on broadcast TV. In recent years I can't say I have watched more than a couple of non Buck playoff games and even then only when hanging out in a bar or something. Would be nice for the city of Milwaukee to get another title, building the new arena and keeping the team was pretty big for Milwaukee, even if you don't like the NBA having pro teams is a big deal for a declining old rust belt city. If they lost them they would never get the NBA back.
  4. Yeah I am changing my pick to the Bucks
  5. Even if it won't last it sure is nice to see the old run production machine back. On his RBI single yesterday he just walked up, saw the big hole on the left side and smacked the first pitch through it. It was refreshing to see when we have been leaving guys on base so much this week. It seems so easy for him when he is in a zone like he is now. Hope he can stay healthy and keep this up.
  6. I don't know the solution, you can't have a tanking battle every once in a decade or so a generational type prospect comes out so you have to have some sort of lottery in place. The Lakers moving from 11 to 4 seems sort of unnecessary collateral damage though. Maybe you just have a weighted drawing for pick #1 and then slide every one down a pick if they are jumped. I am just glad the Knicks didn't win it.
  7. I think it's a couple of years old but have been listening to the latest Unsane album, a band I used to get into on the 90's that I had forgotten all about. One of the great noise bands, always great to see bands like them are still touring and putting out records. Other than that I think a new Mastodon record is due out this year, one of the few bands I still keep tabs on. Sort of embarrassing how little new music I listen to considering how much time I spent in the 90's going to shows and buying new records. I don't care for country either but friends whose music opinions I respect are into Chris Stapleton and I am sure there are a few other that are good. I am sure there is lots of new hip hop I would like but if I am in the mood for rap I am more likely to look into some older stuff that I missed at the time rather than looking into what's new.
  8. He has hit Hamels pretty well, that really hurts for sure. Hopefully Davies can keep going with his early season dominance, considering he is usually a slow starter he may have a big season.
  9. Huge win, not only extends the winning streak but puts the Cubs on their heels at home this weekend, would be great to start 4-2 or even 5-1 against them on the season. Nice job Gio.
  10. Honestly I think their decision will make or break Gard, I think he is a great coach but the recruiting is starting to feel like we are becoming Rutgers. Both guys from last year left and weren't that great anyway. Only the OSU transfer and the red shirt center project coming this season. That said I think they are coming to Madison and 2020 is looking like a potential Big Ten title and final four type season.
  11. I remember both Woodruff and Burnes having mid rotation upside in scouting reports and both seemed to top out about the same in prospect rankings. There aren't a lot of prospects that get ace or TOR type outlooks but like you say that doesn't mean these guys can't get there.
  12. It seems like just a week ago that Woody was being thrown on the disappointment pile, and I remember a lot of comparisons to Wily Peralta early last season. But while they are similar hard throwing big guys Wily never seemed to carry the K rate to match his stuff. No problem there for Woodruff, I think he looks to be on a different trajectory for sure.
  13. Neither Erceg or Hiura are on the 40 man roster, if Hiura is on his way soon as most of us suspect I doubt they would shuffle the 40 man just to bring Erceg up now. He probably isn't ready yet anyway, this is the first year he has really done much and it is still early. There are plenty of options on the 40 man now if they want to wait for Hiura to clear Super 2.
  14. Yeah teams are not going to shell out big long term deal for aging sinker ball starters. He should have taken the 90 million when he had the chance. But he is a lefty and those guys sometimes age well, he just needs to accept that teams are going to want shorter term deals with him now.
  15. I know MadBum is a pretty popular player in SF, but I would think they would be all over that deal. Best case you are getting maybe 3-4 WAR from him the rest of the year? Hiura looks like he could post several seasons like that.
  16. It is sort of starting to feel like a Ryan Braun situation, he is just too good a hitter to keep down much longer. We have a couple of regulars hitting around .175 on May 7, not disagreeing they need to wait a couple of weeks especially now that they have put together some wins but someone is going to have to make way for him soon even if it needs to be one less pitcher.
  17. Not really surprising to see white hot Braun back in against a lefty but really happy to have Yelich back in there. Would be nice to finish off a sweep and get things headed back in the right direction.
  18. I have to admit I only saw his first 2 starts this year but glancing at his stats he has 3.60 FIP and 38 K's in 31.1 IP. Cherry picking of course but I don't really see anything that suggests he is on the brink of being demoted. Of course a month in he is sort of at that point where a couple of good or bad starts could swing things either way but short of Nelson coming back I am not sure anyone is going to bump him out of the rotation. It's nice to have at least one power arm in there.
  19. I have always thought Daniels was a little overrated but unless someone offered a 2nd round pick or something I would keep him, at least until you know where you are at the trade deadline. Can't have too many quality DL's, especially the way this team gets injured every year.
  20. I read something predraft in the new York media about the shoulder injury and they indicated that he was someone the giants may pick at 6 or 17. I don't think a guy as talented as him was going to last much longer. I don't mind the Packers rolling the dice there at all, the chance to score a blue chip defensive player for the remaining Rodgers years was too good to pass up, especially with the extra 1st. Gutes first draft has been acclaimed after last year and not just by the Wisconsin media. With that start I think he gets the benefit of the doubt.
  21. Supposedly has torn labrum that will require surgery. Still like the talent.
  22. Taylor, Sweat, Gary... I like them all
