  1. Just speaking for myself I could care less if Hoskins is understanding or not. He has put up 0.8 bwar while we are paying him like 32 million the last 2 seasons. And after a good start he was slumping again before going on IL if I am remembering right. Yelich was just as hot as Vaughn is now for a month or so just a few weeks back. Hoskins isn't taking any playing time away from Yelich,
  2. I keep thinking this team with its low slugging % is like a typical Badgers buckets team, eventually they will go cold and slump for a couple weeks. But is just doesn’t happen, we are 8-2 in last ten and none of them involve the 11 game streak anymore. Fun times, I am about as disinterested in Packer camp as I can remember. Night game on FS 1 tomorrow, I don’t see many TV games so glad to see that.
  3. Traded Cortes for Miller in a round about way? I am down with that, really was thinking they should trade Quintana or Cortes for ML help if they could find it and bullpen makes sense.
  4. I guess we had to trade Cortes but for 28 year old guy whose bref page doesn't jump out at me
  5. LOL anyone want to speculate on what THAT would cost
  6. If we do there will be outrage here at the cost, it will be a long night on BF :)
  7. I am going to be surprised if Kwan doesn't get traded.
  8. Yes, but even assuming we were involved it could just be they liked the choices the Mariners offered better. Still, no top 100 prospect, we could have outbid them if we wanted.
  9. Yeah, I know, and I think he just did before a day off last week. But he doesn't always and is our biggest power threat this year. I would just rather see him in the lineup than Jansen I guess, maybe just need time for the new guy to grow on me a bit,
  10. With the day off tomorrow it's not too likely Yelich will sit. I don't see Jansen pushing $26 million Yelich into a DH platoon quite yet.
  11. Starting to feel like this really isn't going to happen. I would trade Hendersen if it wouldn't take any more but he has been such a fast riser in the org that the team may not be willing to give him up. Maybe if Chourio is out for a while but that doesn't sound like it is the case. But it's possible Zona just won't get as much as they hope and we can still offer a better package with lesser prospects, rentals don't get the return they used to.
  12. I think someone said 6 from Priester and 3 from Ashby in yesterday’s game thread. Filling in for Hall but like opposite day. 😀
  13. I keep looking at Ashby’s ERA with disbelief, feels like he gives up runs every outing. Hall not as much but I still don’t trust him either. Sort of head scratcher when you watch the movement on Ashby’s pitches.
  14. Ortiz was traded for Schoop.
  15. I think Suarez value may be comparable to Machado in 2018 who we were all interested in at the time. Machado was younger and more highly regarded but Eugenio's big season probably makes up the difference. Looking back Dodgers gave up 5 prospects including a top 100 guy in Yusniel Diaz. he didn't pan out but Baltimore has gotten 5 WAR out of Dean Kramer. We didn't have the prospect depth the Dodgers did back then but we could easily come up a package that matches that. Ideally, Zona wants a controlled advanced SP and Myers, Henderson, or Gasser could be the big piece of the trade. That may be the advantage we have over other suiters. It's 2 months, I don't really think Durbin is an issue. He will still get playing time and will be back next year.
  16. Sad day for rock and roll. Wish I could have went to Birmingham for final show.
  17. Just thinking last night about this after reading the Cubs may be favorites to land Suarez. Cone put Toronto over the top in what was a memorable season for Brewers and at the time it seemed like big market team squishing the little guy. Looked back last night and realized that it happened Aug 27 so Brewers could have blocked it by claiming him off waivers? Oof, those were pre internet days so I wasn't really aware of those rules. Unlike Suarez we didn't need Cone that year but seems like it would have been worth preventing Toronto from acquiring him. Maybe the trade deadline was different then. Edit: Further research says Canseco was traded Aug 31 that year so that must have been deadline. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2010/06/remembering-the-1992-trade-deadline.html
  18. It’s weirdly a tight market for bats and he is the biggest realistic get. We certainly have the ammo but I would agree none of the top 5ish prospects. We are deep enough to compete for a 2 month rental without giving up that much. I just really don’t want to get booted in a 3 game series again because bats go cold and we don’t have enough power to match the big money rosters. It’s tough to see at the moment with a winning streak but we still need him.
  19. Seems reasonable as some were speculating $25 million + per year. There goes the Jaire savings.
  20. Yet the front page of ESPN MLB has a midseason article that puts the Brewers in the 2nd tier of contenders, behind 4 teams with a worse record now. The weird thing is they don't even explain why they are in tier 2, just because they are the Brewers I guess: https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/45762612/mlb-2025-second-half-preview-rankings-playoff-odds-all-30-teams
  21. I think most would agree that not consistently getting deep in games has kept him off that top level and he does trail the top guys in IP again this season. That said, he is on pace for a 5-6 WAR season and that would be ace level in my book.
  22. I think he has won 6 straight starts and has been a huge part of the teams surge to the top of the NL. I am not sure even us brewer fans are giving him enough love for the season he is having.
