  1. I don't know that it is a big advantage, I expect a tough game from Lions either way. If anything maybe they are quick to lay down and start thinking about the beach if you get up a couple of scores early, but the flip side is if Seahawks lose the Lions get big locker room boost like we had yesterday. I don't blame the NFL too much, their options were limited and the want the national audience for games that determine who actually makes playoffs. No one is tuning in for games that just affect seeding.
  2. Yes, Titans-Jags are already penciled in for Saturday night, Ravens-Bengals are already in playoffs and Patriots-Bills could be rendered meaningless by earlier results. We are going to be Sunday night which I hate but not complaining about anything on this house money run we are on. Too bad for Lions fans though if they get eliminated before kickoff but ratings are king.
  3. I think we are looking at Sunday night now, maybe they go with Pats-Bills but our game is a potential playoff game. They will hope for a Seahawks loss.
  4. I guess it's tough to blame the refs when you are down 41-3 so they had to come up with something else. Viking fans are still the biggest babies on the internet.
  5. Browns just went up 24-10 with about 5 minutes left. Looks like its all in front of us now, nervous about this one. We really haven't been playing all that much better and Vikes looking for a statement.
  6. Great win, seemed like we must have had turnovers on every Miami drive after they went up 20-10 but I must be forgetting a punt or 2. I didn't like kicking the FG late but it worked out, really I was more mad they didn't throw on 3rd since the clock wasn't a huge issue at that moment. 538 has us up to 27% to make playoffs but seems better than that now that we are on a bit of a roll.
  7. I think I heard a Rodgers quote this morning, just happy to be playing a meaningful game on Christmas. Couldn't agree more, thank you expanded playoffs. High of 54 today in Miami.
  8. A Washington loss to niners would make it a perfect Saturday for the Packers win out playoff chances. But that is the key game today, a Wash win would be a big blow.
  9. Was the Detroit game the one where they reshuffled the oline during the week and then he went on the injury report on Saturday? I don't remember that being about turf and it was a big blow to the game plan in a game they lost. I don't question his play when on the field, I question his reliability, at least as far as paying him 17 million for a single season. That is still a big number. A couple of years ago everyone was relieved we didn't give a similar amount of money to JJ Watt and they were right. Who knows, it probably will end up somewhere in between where Bakh takes a pay cut to get his cap # down near that 23 million and comes back for one more year with Rodgers.
  10. Sure, but knowing they will have the space then enables them to rework another current players deal if they need it for a FA. But I suspect they would just take their lumps in 23 on him and take the 6 million in space and be rid of the contract going forward. I just can't get my head around paying him another 17 million after the way the last 2 seasons have gone, I know there are others here who feel he is still worth it and the Rodgers buddy angle is notable.
  11. Or they can release him post June 1 and it's more like $12 vs $29 million in 2023 cap space with that same 11.5 million hit next year. Any way you slice it there is another $17 million paid to keep him next year on that contract and it will hit the cap sometime. That's too much in my mind. That dead money is spent, the additional 17 million isn't yet. I think the Jenkins contract is the writing on the wall here, they will slide him into Bakh's spot in the salary picture.
  12. Sure, if they planned on cutting him post June 1 Bakh taking a pay cut would be just as good as release and resign. I just don't think they are going to roll the dice on paying him 17 million more next season when they don't have to, especially considering their cap situation. It's very possible I am wrong about that number though and some of it is guaranteed.
  13. I think it's a given, I think he is due 17 million that isn't guaranteed next season, does anyone think he would get that as a FA? Not me, too many questions about that knee for an aging player. He will get a prove it deal if he wants to play but my guess is he may retire if released. The Packers need to get out from under that deal but it's possible he comes back on a one year deal I guess.
  14. Thinking about it more there is no way the Cowboys lay down and let Wash in the playoffs. That would be like the Vikings letting us win.
  15. An issue they may run into is if they need a Dallas win over Wash in week 18. Dallas will be locked in, they almost already are, and you know MM won't want to do Rodgers any favors. Miami is sliding but Vikes would love to end our hopes and are always motivated against us.
  16. That was just nuts, probably because it cut into FOX NFL pregame I had friends who could care less about soccer texting me asking if I was watching it. Messi almost won it at the end of regulation and France came oh so close at the end of extra time as well. Messi finally winning it is the big story but Mbappe came oh so close to winning his second at age 23 in dramatic fashion. A clash of young and old titans, I didn't tune in until the second half but soccer is not always boring, that was edge of your seat excitement.
  17. Loved watching cowboys lose like that but that was actually a bad result for what is left of the Packers playoff chances. Not that I think the Packer will win out but I just like doing the math this time of year and it looks like a finish of 9-8 in a tie with Detroit would come down to strength of victory tie breaker. Throwing out the division games as they would be equal for both team here is the current W-L of the other projected wins by both teams: Det - 32-34-2 GB - 35-32-2 Of course these numbers will change still this afternoon and down the stretch but Detroit beat Jax and we beat Cowboys so that was a 2 win swing.
  18. I was watching while working but he continued playing after that goal, right? I swore he was in when they had the 3 on 1 that Weah messed up the pass on. Tough break if he is out Saturday but still huge, if very stressful at the end, win for USMNT.
  19. Yes, I was stunned Leonhard didn't get the job but after thinking about it a bit I realized the program is on the downswing and hiring from within was maybe not the way to go. And a quality outside candidate emerged so not surprised anymore. Hope they know what they are doing but things are changing fast in college football, what has worked for the Badgers all these years may need some big adjustments and I am glad they see that.
  20. I knew listening to pregame when they talked about the type of team the Titans are this one would be tough. Just like how we have lost home playoff games over the years, we are a soft team that doesn't win in the trenches enough. Basically, if we don't have an elite passing game we become very beatable in the Favre/Rodgers era. It's hard to blame them for building the team like that with HOF QB's but maybe it's time for a change. The bend but don't break D schemes leave them on the field too long, we blame the O for 3 and outs when the D needs a break but they wouldn't need it if they didn't just give up 15 play 8 minute drives. What a disappointing team, cleaning house wouldn't be a bad idea but the Packers don't change that quickly. I like the Sean Payton idea.
  21. I think from comments Rodgers made that Adams had been upset with the Packer org about not giving him an extension earlier and everyone knew he was not coming back for a while. I guess maybe they believed they could change his mind. Interesting they chose to extend Bakh at the end of 20 when they could have maybe gotten Adams extended on a cheaper deal at the time. 20/20 hindsight of course but that Bakh contract has been a disaster.
  22. I think they were even planning on taking the timeout so they could look at the D, still couldn't figure out how to run a play
  23. Holy smokes, that was one awful 4th down sequence after a timeout
  24. Boy oh boy can't wait for the "rivalry reborn" showdown next week.
  25. Packers have ridiculously stupid hold on 3rd and 15 and then the defense collapses. So typical of this losing streak.
