  1. Burnes is pitching Saturday not tomorrow. Thanks, I am reminded for like the 10th time this season you can’t track the Brewers rotation in your head.
  2. It certainly adds some drama to tomorrow nights game, and it's not like we are playing the Pirates. A bit of a pressure game for Burnes can't hurt either, even if it is more of a personal achievement type thing. The odds sure seem to swing on ERA, it was Buehler, Buehler, Buehler for what seemed like weeks and suddenly he got shelled and all the talk moved toward Scherzer.
  3. I guess with everyone seeing it must be tough to claim his wife dropped a suitcase on his hand. Man, hope Box can get back in a groove and Strickland is going to need to step up in postseason. And maybe Houser will need to be in a late inning role.
  4. This a baseball site so not surprising the debate gets into percentages but not sure it's so easy to do that in football. I mean obviously you only need to get a TD 50% of the time for for the points to favor going for it, 7 to 6. But a good offensive team may really be converting at 60% and a poor one 40%, not converting one week can contribute to a close loss, converting the next can be a nothing burger in a game decided by 4 TD's. How good is the opposing defense? Are there key injuries? So many factors that can't be just glossed over by looking at league average success rate. I know it is brought up that going for 2 every time would likely give you more points over a season but teams don't do it because they are afraid a random streak of failed conversions could cost them a game. I didn't think it was the right call real time in this game but in retrospect the fact that we have one of the GOAT's playing QB probably makes it the right call for us.
  5. I think FG’s are underrated.
  6. I will have to go back and look but it seems like it was more like 4th and a yard and a half, run didn’t seem like an option, and we just fumbled the play before and were fortunate it went out of bounds. Sometimes you take the points and move on, I have no idea why that would be a 100% call.
  7. That’s why we pay him
  8. Well I mean if we would have held them on 4th down in the red zone It would have seemed pretty big, no? That wouldn't happen. Then they kick the FG and we go to OT. Maybe I am missing the point here, are we talking about the FG to put them up 6?

  10. Not shaping up great for taking a 10 point lead In the 4th. Need a turnover to win this
  11. It sure looked like grounding live, not sure why there wasn’t the usual conference to discuss
  12. We gave up like 7 extra yard after contact on 1st and 2nd down and then they can just sneak on 3rd. Ugh now the floodgates open
  13. I don’t think you start counting number of scores up like that until later in the game, just like you don’t go for 2 until the risk/reward is clearer.
  14. The NFL has really shifted to aggressive on downs like that in the last few years. I think it is mostly because fans like it so there isn’t much blowback for the coach. I would like to see our coach play the percentages though. It's not because fans like it. It's because of the analytics boom providing evidence that punting from the 44 yard line doesn't really help you and giving the opponent the ball inside their own 5 is a good enough consolation prize that it's worth trying to pickup an extra 4 points. Without knowing the numbers you are talking about I would point out there this a big difference between 4th and goal at the one and 4th and one at the 20 yet coaches go for both all the time now. The 5 is more of gray area but what sticks with me is you may end up settling for a FG anyway even if you convert.

  16. Because Vogey is the slowest player in all of baseball I understand why CC had a pitch runner for Vogey but why Lauer instead of a position player? I guess Lauer is pretty fast, they said he was a WR
  17. Brewers scored 3 runs on 2 bad Mets defensive plays but Wong came so close to a 2 rn HR it was sort of karma
  18. I don’t love using Suter twice in a series but not sure Hader is available today. We could use some more runs
  19. Barring extras there not going to happen, will still be fun to watch the reactions if Cubs hold on.
