  1. Cmon Vogelbach, you could see him try to run faster when he saw it would be close gotta hustle the whole way.
  2. We certainly could have used his bat against lefties and in retrospect with Yelich missing time and Hiura's collapse at the plate there were plenty of starts for him. But I think the Brewers weren't going to spend a few million on a player that needs so much rest and Braun wasn't playing for league minimum. And considering how well the season has gone tough to argue he would have made it much better, maybe having an .800 OPS Braun well rested for the playoffs would be nice but that would be far from a sure thing. He played his whole career with the Brewers which is pretty cool, they will find the right time to honor him next year.
  3. I am starting to think this actually might not happen..
  4. Was a villain in El Dorado, a really entertaining John Wayne western and I think I recently saw him in Cobra Kai. RIP
  5. I don't think they will but I would just go with Hader even with a 4 run lead. Reds lose, chance to go up by 8.5, lock down the wins now so you don't need them 3 weeks for now.
  6. It probably depends on Bak's status. Van Lanen was pretty bad last season but the whole Badger team was, Badger lineman have a way of outperforming their draft status, hope he sticks. Maybe McDuffie on the bubble too?
  7. It doesn't really matter but I checked and Rodgers had a 101.1 passing rating in preseason year 2, he was sacked 9 times. Probably a mix of good and bad in there just like Love. The reviews I am reading this morning are pretty positive on Love, mostly saying he just needs to clean up the mistakes under pressure. I had just never seen him play until this preseason and the bad decisions are probably effecting my opinion more than they should. The reviews note that those problems do go back to college though, its certainly a concern.
  8. You certainly can. Just don't think it's fair or valid to do so based on the two games we've seen, in my opinion. Fair enough but I did quantify it by saying that it was small sample size, backup oline, and I haven't kept up on camp reports this year. I am open to and would be encouraged by opinions from anyone who sees it different. I will have to see what Bob McGinn says...
  9. As you can see it by watching garbage preseason games with 4th-string caliber o-lineman are missing blocks left and right and the best receiver you're putting on the field is Malik Taylor? I mean, ok. Doesn't seem a fair test or evaluation. As I recall, Aaron didn't exactly light it up in his preseason games when he was behind Favre either.... Yep believe it or not I can still form an opinion even after factoring in everything you say. Time will tell, I am not giving up on him. I actually had a pretty high opinion of Rodgers' preseason and later regular season play and skills and was totally pissed that Friday we had apparently traded him for Randy Moss.
  10. I didn't see it either but he threw an awful pass on third down in the red zone on that 2 minute drive at the end of the half that had pick written all over it. I haven't been really impressed in what I have seen so far from him, it's always striking to me how vast a difference there is in QB play in the NFL. I have said I am ready to move on from Rodgers but that was with Love unseen, now I am hoping maybe we win the Super Bowl and that makes Rodgers and the Packers decide to bury the hatchet and stick together. Very small sample size I know and playing behind a backup oline hurts but Love looks like he has a ways to go still. Wonder what he’d look like with the starting offensive line, any of the top receivers, or Jones playing with him? Sure but then we are just speculating that he may be OK if he was with the starters, still a huge step down from what we have in Rodgers from what I can tell. I am just calling it as I see it, maybe he has impressed in the camp reports that I don't follow as much as I used to. Looks like he has a better arm than Hundley but it seems like guys are often diving to catch his throws.

  12. I don't think for a minute Ohio State would accept an SEC offer at this point, way too much tradition and even the Buckeyes would take a backseat to Bama in that league. I never thought Austin would hold their noses and join the Bubba League either but at least you can see how they were in a bad place in the Big12, the Big Ten is not a second rate conference like that. That said I think it would be a mistake for the Big Ten to sit on it's hands and watch the SEC fly past them in TV revenue. I would make Miami the top priority for expansion, they are used to playing in a sprawling conference anyway and it makes a lot of sense for both sides. Filling up that huge stadium will be a lot easier with midwest Big Ten fans flocking to Miami and the recruiting and TV benefits for the Big are obvious as well. It would probably force the SEC to try the rumored Clemson and FSU grab which could bring Notre Dame to the Big Ten table finally as well. I know there are hefty leaving penalties in the ACC but that's just money and can probably be negotiated once the ball starts rolling, it could also be delayed a few years to get around that. Colorado would be a nice program to add with Miami as well, you can still beat the SEC in the TV market game but have to be bold or they will come knocking for OSU eventually.
  13. Just looking up Woodruff's recent news and found this from a few days ago: https://www.brewcrewball.com/2021/8/20/22634020/milwaukee-brewers-throwing-fewer-fastballs-is-hurting-brandon-woodruffs-cy-young-award-chances
  14. [sarcasm]Another shrewd move by GM12[/sarcasm]
  15. I was looking at the Packers.com depth charts during the game Saturday and he was way down there which didn't make any sense, I honestly thought he was the projected starter but apparently we signed another former Gopher. Very strange to let a guy they liked so much go so soon.
  16. Yeah, letting a guy that would have been like our 4th or 5th best reliever slip through the cracks is a preeeetttyy bad look. Here are some things I would consider worse looks... The Yankees spending like 100 million more dollars to win fewer games than us, the Mets spending like 95 million more dollars to win fewer games than us, the Phillies spending like 90 million more dollars to win fewer games than us, the Nationals spending like 85 million more dollars to win fewer games than us, the Angels & Red Sox spending like 80 million more dollars to win fewer games than us, the Padres spending like 75 million more dollars to win fewer games than us, the Cardinals spending like 60 million more dollars to win fewer games than us, the Cubs spending like 40 million more dollars to win fewer games than us, the Blue Jays spending like 35 million more dollars to win fewer games than us, the White Sox spending like 30 million more dollars to win fewer games than us in an even weaker division, the Braves spending like 30 million more dollars to win fewer games than us, the Twins spending like 25 million more dollars to win fewer games than us, the Reds spending like 20 million more dollars to in most likelihoods end up winning fewer games than us, the Orioles having a .311 winning percentage, the DBacks having a .331 winning percentage (with an opening day payroll only like 5 million below ours), the Rangers having a .350 winning percentage (also with an OD payroll only like 5 million below ours), the Pirates having a .358 winning percentage, the Marlins having a .408 winning percentage, the Royals having a .443 winning percentage, the Rockies having a .463 winning percentage (with a higher OD payroll than ours), the Indians barely even cracking 50 million in payroll at all. It’s probably OK to be very happy about the job Stearns and the team has done yet still have discussions about the moves that didn’t pan out so great.
  17. I am still way more annoyed about Knebel than Bickford since that was about money but yeah if those 2 are key relievers on the Dodgers playoff roster it has potential to bite us. Nice win, keep the Reds 7.5 back and keep putting series wins in our pocket like this and we may be relaxing mid September.
  18. I had no idea he threw that hard, seem to remember prospect reports that he topped out at 93-94. He is a much better prospect than I gave him credit for, surprised he isn't on more top 100 lists but maybe he is.
  19. I figured it was for the 40 man spot but thought maybe it changed when they could bring him back. But looks like he went on IR June 23rd so probably fine there.
  20. I was wondering what they were going to do today when Houser leaves after 3-4 innings, bringing Ashby up makes sense. Is there any significance to Vogelbach going to the 60 day?
  21. Crappy lefty starter, Houser likely on a limited pitch count, burned through all the relievers yesterday...not feeling great about this one. Hopefully its one of those unexpected 12-2 type wins.
  22. Even the last Rose Bowl loss wasn't really all that crushing, the playoffs have ruined that mystique. Going to 8 or 12 playoff teams seems like it would be best, especially for the Badgers. I am not sure what to expect this year, last season was pretty miserable to watch but the Badgers usually surprise in years when they don't come in with much preseason hype.
