  1. This year’s dodgers team could go down as one of the top hitting teams of all time. Not too many pitchers gonna have success against this team. Shows how good chase was last night.
  2. Well, they said that it wasn't Gio he was talking about. This could be a tease with nothing to it, but it's exciting. Trying to think who I'd rather see them sign. I think I'm in the minority and would rather see Kimbrel signed for big money and Gio signed to a cheap one year deal. I just really like the idea of getting Hader back into the role of using him when it's most important and further away from using him as a closer. Edit-I mean to say Kimbrel as opposed to Kuechel if both could be had for just one year deals. Still, regardless of this individual being right about Moose, doesn't mean he's right here and it also says "close." Close can fall apart quickly. No matter what, I hope it's a ONE year deal, maybe with a team option. I want to keep the young guys in the rotation and we'e got so many young relievers SHOULD be ready to step in next year with big time stuff that I'd hate to see a lot of money from next years budget allocated to fixing this years staff. As always though, until Stearns stops making brilliant moves, I'll keep trusting him. IMO if it is kimbrel it won’t be for 1 yr, he’s reportedly asking for 3 yrs., and that’s ok. This year’s salary will be prorated so take off 1/6. Then IF the pen looks strong with the possibility of knebel, you trade him at next yrs deadline. So essentially you get a better version of knebel til Corey is back. Adding kimbrel would be like adding another Josh Hader. Just from the rt. Side. Statistically they are almost identical. The starting rotation as the yr progresses will get stronger without outside help. The answere to the crew getting to the series is a bullpen that can neutralize a 200 mil offensive powerhouse dodger team, just like last year only with a better offense and starting staff.
  3. FB-slider pitcher FB 92-97 31 yrs old Did really well in high leverage situations in Japan the last 3 yrs.
  4. Hasn’t pitched in a while, but didn’t waste any time in striking out the side. In my opinion, should be one our 8 pen arms now.
  5. Chase dominated the best hitting team in baseball. He looked really good out of the pen too. I think 2017 chase is back.
  6. Wade Davis > 3 @ 51 Zach Britton >3 @ 39 Craig Kimbrel > 3 @ 45 For those that that still don’t think we need to sign him, why? Money? Possible injury? Regression candidate? See post #185 on page 10. How many losses would Kimbrel have turned into a win so far? IMO, last night possibly, and I say possibly, may have been the first one. And that would only be if Counsell would have pulled Hader in the 8th and inserted Kimbrel, which is very questionable speculation because Kimbrel has mostly been a traditional 1 inning closer and the Brewers did not have the lead when Hader gave up the home run. The closer is completely meaningless if the pitching staff can't get the job done through the first 8 innings and so far the Brewer pitching staff has not gotten the job done through the first 8 innings. Pitchers like Keuchel and Gonzalez make much more sense for Milwaukee. In my opinion you’re ignoring how great and dominant a pitcher Kimbrel is. A potential future Hall of Fame best of all time reliever for under market value and you don’t want him because he’s A traditional one inning closer? I’ll take KNOWING the game is OVER if the crew leading after 8. Kimbrel is one piece to getting back our pen of dominance that we had last year, and with Hader we’d have the 2 MOST DOMINANT pen arms in all of baseball. Over the coming months someone from down under will be worthy of bringing up that can also help the pen. Then near or at the deadline a Soria type arm Then we have our superpen back and maybe we can go win this thing.
  7. Wade Davis > 3 @ 51 Zach Britton >3 @ 39 Craig Kimbrel > 3 @ 45 For those that that still don’t think we need to sign him, why? Money? Possible injury? Regression candidate? Kimbrel’s never missed time due to injury, so I’d say that bodes well for the future. Regression? Hasn’t lost velo, but some point out walks up in the playoffs, so we’re knebel’s, he worked thru that. All pitchers go thru bad periods. The money. I think we’ve waited him out long enough and the time is right for a deal. Backload if needed. Trade him in offseason or at next year’s deadline if needed. This would be a great start towards building a pen to rival last year’s playoffs pen, which in my opinion is needed to win the central, and potentially win a title.
  8. Source? Just an educated guess, with degrom at best out for extended period of time and Mets not with any depth in starters. I suppose they could go gio.
  9. Sometime after super 2, and their gonna need his right handed bat.
  10. Dodgers have at least 24 above average players out of the 25 on their roster. The catcher Barnes is borderline, but even he’s probably above average because of his defense. It’s relentless. And now that they got rid of kemp and Machado they have chemistry too.
  11. Best pitcher available with Kuechel in all likelihood going to the Mets to replace degrom.
  12. Surprised it’s not houser on sat, but I guess they want to get chase stretched ASAP. Don’t think they going with full bullpen game on sat, think Wilkerson pitch 2-3 innings. My guess houser on Monday.
  13. As soon as he starts locating his fastball, he’ll be back. I believe it’s more than FB location. He needs to be able to throw off speed pitches MORE than 10% of the time.
  14. Your plan, as good as it is, would be my plan B My plan A: Sign Kuechel AND Kimbrel. Trade Kuechel at this year’s deadline Trade kimbrel at next year’s deadline Kimbrel massively improves our pen for this year, and next year till knebel and Wahl are back. Keuchel gives us a big time quality starter till Nelson and or Burnes re-establishes themselves in our rotation. Prospect haul could be massive, at worst more than what we’d lose with lower round draft choices givin up. If we backload Kimbrel’s contract, we could have use of both for this year at 20-22 mil Or do plan B > Gio and Kimbrel for 13-18 mil Stearns is not going to risk $30-40M just to try and trade them. Too many things could go wrong, or if the Brewers are in the thick of things, he wouldn't want to trade either one. Since nobody wants Keuchel now, who is going to give up any prospects to get him ( and his contract) later? Kuechel cost only be 6 mil so there should be plenty of suitors, but your right, not gonna want to trade him if in the thick of it. So maybe plan B? They need kimbrel more than gio, if there’s only enough $ for one, kimbrel back loaded, then trade next year’s deadline.
  15. Anderson Houser/Wilkerson Woodruff Davies Chacon Houser tomorrow, Anderson for Burnes, Wilkerson to pen.
  16. To be fair to Counsell, not sure he expected Burnes to be THAT bad.
  17. Your plan, as good as it is, would be my plan B My plan A: Sign Kuechel AND Kimbrel. 18. With Burnes now being optioned down, the crew must feel his off speed stuff and or FB location needs work in a less stressful workplace. I’m happy they didn’t put him in the pen, his future is in starting not relieving, and I don’t think he’ll be down more than 5-8 starts.
