  1. I'll take the one run game with 4 innings to go after the way this game started.
  2. There's a very simple answer/reasoning for this: Baseball. There's just too much in terms of who the pitching matchups are, which players are hot, which players are in slumps, which players are injured, what the umps are calling balls and strikes, what the weather is, and just plain luck/randomness that makes any individual game unpredictable. That's why the season has to be as long as it is in this sport.
  3. The Badgers have like 6 games at home each year... The Bucks have half as many regular season games to fill as the Brewers and their arena holds less than half as many people as AFF... and you're referencing all the people outside the arena during the playoffs compared to regular season baseball games... these are not good comparisons.
  4. I would take this game every single day and have a ton of fun watching it! You make it sound like they had a no-hitter the easy way, if that's the case they should do it more often!
  5. 33 games over .500, 12.5 game lead in the division with only 19 games to go, and the Brewers throw their first no-hitter in 34 years and people are upset? Wowzers. Still a cool moment, Counsell's got his eyes on a bigger prize though.
  6. If you use Chrome, right click is your friend NOTE: I didn't actually try that on the Sheffield image, and now that I have I don't condone whatever interweb journey that leads you to...lol
  7. I think the same thing. He just seems to have great at bats almost all the time Agreed. He's had quite a few at bats where he's cranked one foul that would have been a homer if he kept it fair too. Add in the switch hitting ability and positional flexibility and he could be a very valuable piece of this team the rest of the year.
  8. They need to just get rid of the "clear and convincing evidence" in order to overturn thing. Unless you think the umpire on the field had a better angle/look in real time than all the camera angles available to you in super slow motion, just make your best judgement. To fall back on the umpire's decision that's based on a single look in real time rather than on someone who has multiple views, with multiple angles, and can slow the play down as slow as they need, just doesn't make sense.
  9. The starting pitching has been amazing this year... Burnes 2.27 ERA Woodruff 2.35 ERA Peralta 2.70 ERA Hauser 3.41 ERA Lauer 3.43 ERA Ashby 4.00 ERA Anderson 4.18 ERA That is crazy quality depth.
  10. If he was running hard then he isn't very fast. He isn't very fast: https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/leaderboard/sprint_speed?year=2021&position=&team=MIL&min=10
  11. Like to appreciate an umpired game that provides Brewers with an advantage. Feels nearly 90pct of games goes opponents way. You and every other fan of every other team in sport thinks that. It has seemed like we've been hosed a lot recently, however, looks like we've actually been one of the most favored teams by umpires over the year: https://umpscorecards.com/site-data/teams.html
  12. Just came back to beat Cards with 3 in the 9th… Ha, and they've won 6 of their last 10 now, including 4 wins against the Cards. It's baseball, the best teams will lose over 50 games, the worst teams will win over 50 games. Pitching matchups, hot streaks, cold streaks, and luck will prevent anything from being predictable for any individual game or short stretch of games. The Brewers are in a very good spot right now and it'll be tough for a team to catch up to them at this point regardless of each teams' opponents over the next month. Just stay healthy and avoid a complete collapse and we should be enjoying another fun return to the playoffs!
  13. Yeah, it sucks going on a little skid but it happens to everyone including very good teams. We've had at least one three game losing streak in every month of the season so far. We now have eight losing streaks on the season of at least three games, including one that was five games long and one that was six games long. Losing streaks will happen, but we still have one of (if not the) best records in franchise history at this point. Hopefully they can snap it tomorrow!
  14. well if they weren't going to score that inning at least they got through it as fast as possible, need to get to the 8th!
  15. I don’t believe they faced a mediocre lefty in any of those games, which seems to be their kryptonite this year. Plus, Houser is absolutely losing it. They scored seven with lefty Sean Nolin pitching in one of those games.
  16. Just in the past week they've scored 9, 7, and 7 runs in games. I think I'll stick this game out a little longer.
  17. Why wouldn't you play the better player for the situation (not to mention he needs rest days anyways)? Pina has been pretty consistently good versus lefties while Narvaez has been pretty consistently bad versus lefties. 2021 vs. LHP: 2019-21 vs LHP:
  18. I think that is how it's defining it, isn't it? Basically in this case the established strikezone is the perimeter of everywhere he generally called pitches strikes (I'm not sure how they handle outliers to determine the "established" strikezone) and in no case did he call a ball within that established strikezone, nor did he call a strike outside of it. Therefore he had to have been 100% consistent on all the edge cases as well. Maybe I'm misunderstanding your definition of consistency? Ah, here's the full explanation: https://ethan-singer.com/articles/umpire-consistency-scores.html Seems to mostly match my definition of consistency. However if he called one really bad strike, seems like it could cause the whole established strikezone to be way off and cause a lot of consistently called balls to end up being called "inconsistent" because of it. So I could see cases where it doesn't quite work right.
  19. Curtiss has only given up more than 1 hit three times in his last 22 appearances. And he's only given up more than 1 run once in his last 24 appearances. Unfortunately, we just saw his worst outing of the year right off the bat. First impressions are hard to forget, but I think he just needs to rattle off a few clean innings and he'll eventually prove to be a really nice pickup for the next few years.
  20. [sarcasm]Is Yelich struggling? I can't quite tell from the constant posts.[/sarcasm] This is one of the best Brewer teams in franchise history, they have a nice lead in the division, and they're beating up on the Cubs, try to enjoy it! lol
  21. How about MLB LH hitting corner OF vs RHP? That would probably bring Yelich even closer to average. MLB LH OF vs RHP: MLB LH LF vs RHP: MLB LH RF vs RHP:
  22. If you assume, let's say a 90% chance the Reds win any given game (let's be generous) multiplied 13 times, you're going to have a 7% chance that they sweep it. And 90% chance is being super generous. So yes. You can make a ton of money on that. I would bet that. It’s worth it I get it, if you can bet $10 and get $1000 back if it happens it's a fun bet. The question is, how much would you put up? Are you betting $100 on it? More?
