  1. Is Daz Cameron starting to work his way towards a promotion and some DH AB's. We could easily cut bait with Capra (or Collins) and give Daz a few ab's here or there. I get that leaves us dreadfully thin on the IF. I think my top 10 team prospect is currently 1)Made 2)Pratt 3)Misi 4) Pena 5) Payne 6)Quero 7)Bitonti 8)Henderson 9)Boeve 10)Adamchezski or Letson So yeah most of the top 10 is in Carolina.
  2. Wow, when it is going good this offense is crazy good and that is with Capra starting tonight.
  3. What about a deal with the Dodgers? They could use OF help and Alex Freeland looks good and blocked. Mitchell for Freeland? Frelick for Freeland and Pagas/Bobby Miller? Perkins and Boeve for Freeland? Ortiz can go back to 3B and Pratt or Freeland could transition to 3B when Pratt is ready.
  4. We can throw out the Pirates I think that is agreed. The Reds lack middle of the order hitters to provide stability, the Cards have some youth that could get hot but in general the team isn't very athletic and defense is a worry. The Cubs are the most well rounded team and it would be assumed that they have money and prospects to add at the deadline if it is a big rotation arm, a couple of pen guys, or a position of need. I have written this before but there bullpen isn't going to hold especially since their rotation is a bit thin and the will likely overuse the good bullpen arms they do have. The lineup is scary and poses a big threat but after Tucker they really are a collection of #2 or #5 hitters which is really good, but not scary.
  5. Rhys has been a positive on offense especially the past 10 games or so. I don't care to much about the advanced metrics. I like baseball savant best for those and it says he is +3 on offense and 0 for baserunning and defense (surprsingly). I will take that overall, especially since he has been good but I wouldn't call it a hot streak to the point of everything is a rocket. https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/savant-player/rhys-hoskins-656555?stats=statcast-r-hitting-mlb
  6. I get that there is a super small chance that Ashby turns into a top 3 starter this year, but he does have the stuff to make it happen.
  7. In order to find guys like Yoho I think alot is looking at pitch metrics, finding unique pitches with lots of spin (maybe in some cases not a lot of spin). Every year we draft guys with 3,000 rpm breaking pitches and other unique pitch mechanics like extension or movement. We also do a pretty good job of finding college pitchers who were inquired and make improvements in rehab for example Jason Woodward through lower 90's in college and had TJ before we drafted him, when he was healthy last year he was up to 97/98 I believe. That is a big difference in prospect value just based on velo.
  8. And were against Ray in the first 4 innings when he could only throw a fastball for strikes.
  9. I was counting on him a lot but after seeing Patrick and Priester looking good and the start from Henderson yesterday I don't mind. I do think we need 2 guys to join Freddy as good playoff options but by then Woody, Civale, and Nestor should be full steam ahead joining Myers, Ashby, and the young arms as options. Durbin with the bomb tonight and great defense is making the trade look good (Devin has also been bad for the Yanks).
  10. I love the movement Priester has but he is all over the place. Contreras is saving him with the cannon He had been, Ray was complaining about the balls maybe has something to do with the velo and inaccuracy.
  11. 1) Keep up the pitching, starting pitching in April has been truly spectacular 2) Be consistent on offense. It seems like we go 3 day and score 5 runs and then score 30 the next 3. If we can turn the 0,1,2 run games into 2,3,4 run games this team will be golden. To do this run more, yesterday the Brewers ran and it was amazing. More pressure on the bases will be key in lower score games. 3) Stick to Abner, Megill, Keonig Mears, Yoho, and Anderson At this moment these guys I trust in the pen. Anderson and Mears probably 6/7 innings and the other 4 the 8th/9th. Yes, I trust Yoho late in games before we have even seen him in a game, deal with it.
  12. Oswaldo Cabrera could be an interesting idea for an addition. DJ Lemahieu is almost back and could cut into his playing time. They could use some starting pitching that could be available from us after Myers and Woody are back.
  13. The idea is interesting but the Pirates aren't going to trade there only decent young bat. If interdivision was an option Jordan Walker or Nolan Gorman would be better position change options for 3B and value. Nolan Arrenado around the deadline is probably the same boat (beside money issues), not going to happen.
  14. Yeah, you are probably right. I really wouldn't want to trade CarRod for Urias though. Urias is an upgrade but really a .250 max hitter with not much power or speed. Maybe someone like Nestor or Civale would have more value later in the year to a team like the O's and with our young pitching Priester, Patrick, Henderson looking good they (Civale/Cortes) will be expendable. I still wouldn't mind going big for Coby Mayo. However I am sure the O's will use him to get a bigger name starter like Alcantara if Mayo is available.
  15. I wasn't thinking I would stay up late often for the Giant games (eastern time zone) but now I have to stay up at least until Yoho gets in. It would have been nice for Henderson to get another start or two in but it does make the most sense. I think Civale to 60 day DL makes the most sense for the roster spot. His return would be like May 31 which if he hasn't begun a throwing regimen probably will be around when he is ready anyway.
  16. I will add in Curtis Mead and some Blue Jays youth of Addison Barger, Will Wagner, and Orelvis Martinez as guys who aren't off to great starts but could be an option maybe for someone like Blake Perkins when he gets healthy.
  17. Eugenia Suaraz could be an option as well as Jordan Lawlar is bang on the door there. A guy hitting .156 isn't really that attractive but we know he can go on heaters quickly. Money could be an issue. Maybe a guy like Jose Tena from the Nationals could make sense when the bring up Brady House.
  18. Here are some AAA players that could be easier to acquire. Otto Kemp (Phillies) 25 years old, 24th prospect. .275/.372/.600 6 hr this year, hit .285/.392/.489 last year between 4 levels 16 HR 20 SB. Jorbit Vivas (Yanks) 24 years old, #20 prospect. 342/.432/.493, not great last year. More of a 2B bit has some 3B experience. Brett Harris (Oakland) 26 years old .373/.459/.628, solid minor batting stats but wasn't good last year in 100+ abs for the big league team. I will bring Justin Foscue up from Texas as well but I really don't think he can defensively play 3B for a prolonged time. Logan Davidson (Oakland), Abraham Toro (Red Sox), David Villar (San Fran) these guys are all 28 and likely only short term options.
  19. We have a roster crunch coming with Myers and Woody getting close along side Yoho needing a spot. Trade Payamps for a ptbnl, maybe something like if he makes over 20 appearances it is player a (lotto style prospect) if under it is player b (non prospect). I like Ramon Urias a lot as a trade option. I would try and do like Tyler Alexander and Oliver Dunn/Elvis Peguero The CarRod package would be more interesting to the O's but I am still counting on him for next year. Alexander gives them quality innings and Dunn/Peguero gives them some youth/control value. It would open up roster space for some of our guys as well. Edmunds Sosa would be a better option than Bohm at this point. He probably has a similar value to Urias but the Phillies would be less likely to trade him.
  20. Ashby has thrown some bullpen and sounds close to some rehab. I would think Civale or Nestor might be better candidates for the 60 day dl at this point. I have heard any updates on either. I think we 60 day DL Civale (would be May 31 return I believe) for Yoho 40 man. Than trade Payamps ptbnl or phantom IL. For Yoho spot. Myers for Hudson would be fine if nothing changes. Woody for Henderson Ashby for ???? I would be a nice time to trade a couple arms for a 3B if Durbin doesn't take off. I will think of a couple ideas for the transaction ideas thread.
  21. Good lord do I love this farm system. Add Bjorn and Holobetz to the ever grow list of list of players deserving top 30 recognition potentially, we are probably at like 50 guys on that.
  22. I like Levering, he's nerdy but the chemistry when with Vinny or Dillard is good. A little to corny at times but it seems like they are genuinely having a nice time.
  23. If Payne is hitting 110 ev's what do we think a new power rating will be, 55? I thought when we drafted him there was 20+ HR potential because of the frame. However I didn't think he would get to the power until 20 yo, if he hit 5 HR this year I would have been thrilled at this point he looks like a good bet to get close to 15.
  24. To a point I agree. The issue is how long can we wait. Myers will need a roster spot in a couple day with Woody close after (hopefully). Ashby is starting to get close and of course Yoho on deck. Maybe he gets another week to right the ship but time is ticking just based on roster space. It might be a perfect time for him to have some arm inflammation or something.
  25. Good-bye Payamps, thanks for the good 2 years. Maybe a desperate team will give us a PTBNL for him.
