  1. I like Tait and some of the younger prospects but it really is Bohm or bust from Philly.
  2. I think the Pads would good team to get to overpay for Devin however there system has been gutted. I would say someone like Jadher Arienamo who is a borderline top 20 prospect in our system would be like their 4th/5th prospect. They just drafted him but Kash Mayfield would be the only guy I would think of unless they package like 4 lower ranked guys which I don't really like because of our system depth.
  3. I will say that I think Whisenhunt is going to be good, I believe that AAA division is notoriously hitter friendly (I could have the wrong one) 141 k's in 109 innings. My part about him being a potential impact player is a stretch at least for this year, his walks are way higher than I thought. I do believe there is a good trade to be had for Williams with the Giants. Would Robbie Ray (giants eat like 12 million a year) and Lamonte Wade be to much to ask or maybe Wade and Camilo Doval for like Williams and a prospect. What do you all think the price for say Yandy Diaz would be if we could get rid of Rhys. I don't care much about the Lowe end of my proposal earlier but upgrading Rhys to Diaz would be huge. 3 prospects? Black and Henderson? More
  4. I would love Lewis or Lee but my guess is they go 1B Miranda, 2B Lewis, SS Correa, 3B Lee. Eduoard Julien could be available at a lesser price but he has enough question marks, I love their 2B prospect Luke Keaschall but he is only in AA so that doesn't work at least this year.
  5. I am struggling here? Does this say Civale has more trade value than Freddie or Turang.
  6. I like the depth of the Red Sox and think that if we aren't able to get a mlb IF for Devin the Rangers, Red Sox, and D-backs (maybe Dodgers) have the most interesting farm systems to match a Devin trade. The prospects you mentioned are solid, I also wouldn't mind getting David Hamilton back. He fits our team as a team mold and could be a guy that would push Turang to SS and I'd be ok with it. He was worth 2.6 WAR in 88 starts (98 games) 33 sb and had amazing defensive numbers at 2B (8 defensive runs saved in 266 innings). The bat is a lot like Sal and Turang but he fits and would become a great utility potentially.
  7. Wade would be sweet especially if we are going to be making smaller moves here and there.
  8. What about this 1) Rhys, Civale to NYM for 2 lower level lotto style prospects Essentially the Mets get 2 players that fit their short term needs and we get salary relief with a small return to show we got something. 2) Tyler Black, Logan Henderson, Peguero, and Tate Kuehner for Brandon Lowe and Yandy Diaz We use that salary to get 2 perfect bats to fit our team needs. It is a lot to give up but each player has 2 years of reasonably priced control on 2nd year options. The Rays get 3 prospects and Peguero who all seem to be Rays type/style players and save $. 3) Devin to SF for P Carson Whisenhunt and lotto prospect The Giants are stacked at pitcher and Whisenhunt might be about the best prospect we could get who could be an impact player right away. We upgrade the lineup depth immensely, while replacing lost prospect value with Whisenhunt and lotto prospects.
  9. 1) It is possible Bohm could be dealt but that is speculation and even then we don't know where the Phillies would value that trade. I agree that I would take Bohm or any proven 3B/2B over prospects but who know if that is doable. In all likelihood Williams goes for prospects. 2) You are probably right on the Luzardo package, I couldn't see him getting less than Trevor Rogers last year Black is probably close to Norby value and Stowers is better than Hicklen (value wise). With Luzardo being more than Rogers 3) Right if we could get Bohm or another IF Mauricio wouldn't be needed. I probably wouldn't do Black and Knoth for Luzardo so at that point I would keep Civale.
  10. I will admit the Luzardo price may be a bit low if you don't consider Black a top 100 prospect. I like the Mets deal a lot because it gives the Mets 2 things they need and Mauricio is mostly block and coming of an injury. I will say that the Williams trade lacks a big name/prospect but for me Harris is almost the same player as Black with some better 1B potential at 6'2", Porter was a top 100 prospect at the start of the year and the OF Cabrera is like Lara with some bigger power potential at only 19. There is no sexy name but we get 1 upside platoon player and to lotto ticket guys with star potential. For me it is like Harris and 2 comp value picks.
  11. With basically 2 lost years to COVID and injury Smith was a true diamond in the rough. It is guys like Smith who make our system so amazing right now. He is likely the 5th starter in AAA but in any other system (even good ones) would likely be the 2nd or 3rd starter. If we look at him as more of a 22 year old AAA pitcher with those number and quality stuff he would probably be a top 10 prospect in almost any organization. I am interested to see if he stays a starter long term just because of our depth there or if he goes to the pen as a long man which I think might be the perfect place for him if our other starting prospects are good to be successful.
  12. 1) Trade Devin to Texas for 1B/OF Dustin Harris, P Brock Porter, and OF Yeremi Cabrera This is a bit more upside than best player available. Harris platoons with Rhys, Porter and Cabrera have big ceilings if our system can develop them. 2)Black and Brewer Hicklen for Jesus Luzardo, The Marlins need some bats and we could use an upside arm, Luzardo gives us a big arm that our staff can really help. 3) Civale and Peguero to NYM for Ronny Mauricio With Luzardo on board Civale can be flipped, Mauricio is a huge upside guy we could give 3B a shot or become a top notch utility guy. These are all upside deals, in my mind we flip 1 year of Civale for 2 of Luzardo, Black for Mauricio who fits our 3B need better and fill in the Bauers role and get to high potential prospects for excess relief.
  13. I would be thrilled if Sasaki went to any small market team. If he came to us would we have to rescind most of our other int. offers?
  14. It seems like a ton of tea are reducing salary this offseason. I think it will be a great offseason to just wait and be patient and sign a guy late in the offseason to a super cheap contract. There are really only like 5-8 teams that are likely going to spend a bunch this offseason with like 5-8 more that will be active but not going huge.
  15. News today that Sasaki is going to be posted. There is probably less than 1% chance that he would come here but we could dream. What would the pitch be, we are young and up and coming. The city will love you forever and some sort of be different and choose your own path. My guess is the Dodgers are the favorites with Ohtani and Yomamoto, if they get Sasaki for peanuts it would really stink.
  16. Winner winner chicken dinner. Turang just won the platinium. Good job everyone
  17. I put Misi one because the reliever risk doesn't worry me much because of the quality reliever he would be. On top of that we have seen lots of relievers go back to starting after maturing and getting there stuff tuned in. My Misi projection is likely something like this. He starts like 15 games in AAA and the walk rate is a tad better but still to high. HE gets called up to the bigs as a reliever and does fine. Next year he has a Hader like role in Hader's role from his 1st year. Then in 2027 goes back to the rotation ala Garrett Crochet with his walk rate now at 10% or lower.
  18. Is Vinny Capra and Tyler Jay still on the 40 man? I feel like with all the other guys who we let go Capra and Jay would have been on the list before some of them. Both seem like a dime a dozen guys to pick up and maybe not even need a 40 man.
  19. Here is my thinking Let's say Rhys has a modest improvement to a 1 WAR player hits like .240 with a few more HR. If he was able to DH and not have to play the field that could be around 2 WAR but he actually loses value since he will have to play a lot of 1st. If we trade him and eat say $8 million (and get just a lotto style prospect) and then sign a guy like Carlos Santana to say like 7.5 million, I think that it is pretty likely Santana gives you 2.5 WAR. That means We improve the team by 1.5 WAR and save $2.5. We could even go bigger and try for a 1B like Goldy or Walker who have the upside to be 3-5 WAR players or trade candidates like Yandy Diaz as well. We could even just give Black the 1B job save $10 and role the dice on his defense. I would guess Black could hit .250/.350/.400 if things went right with 15-20 bombs and 20+ SB if the defense is even close to average he would be over 2 WAR easy.
  20. I am ok with keeping Devin if the value isn't there but I find it hard to believe we couldn't get 2 solid pieces for him (if not 3). There are like 10 teams that need a closer and like 5-7 potential options depending on who is available or who is closer quality. His value at the deadline might even be more depending on the market demand, just trading him seems like we should be able to plug the IF hole and save some money in one move.
  21. If he is solid at AAA the 1st half of the year would we rather him stay at AAA and get more ab's or have him on the big club even though he would only play once or twice a week.
  22. Dang thanks. Well, add a minor league OF to the list of AAA needs if we don't resign him.
  23. I don't think it would have to cost any prospects, we might have to eat 5-8 million or add him into with another player (Devin). We could also take back a contract to make things work. The problem with Rhys is that he is probably a guy who should primarily be a DH and with Yeli there and the OF jam it reduces Rhys value . I do think Rhys will be better next year but with poor defense and baserunning even if he his career averages he is probably only a 1-2 WAR player. He could also be worse, it isn't like he got better as the season went on (I hope not).
  24. I would saw we have a surplus, but for me I wouldn't deplete that depth because of injury concers. If Yeli and Mitchell get hurt Black would be the 4th OF with Hicklen and Collins by that point Carlos Rodriguez could be an option as well. We definitely has lots of OF depth it just is that with injury concerns trading away a guy on the cheap doens't make a ton of sense. I would guess we can find enough playing time for all 5 OF between DH and the 3 spots to make it work until someone undoubtedly misses some time. If it is to get an ace caliber guy like Crochet, Alcantara, or McClanahan, sure Frelick, Perk, or Mitchell can be moved. However a guy like Singer or Marsh doesn't move the needle enough to trade one of guys (maybe Perkins).
  25. I agree, I would bet Yeli starts like 100 games at DH assuming he doesn't get hurt and Contreras is less. Black= 62 1st, 20-30 DH, 5-10 OF, 2-5 2B/3B That puts him around 100 with injuries making the potential for more. With maybe like 20-30 pinch hitting appearance that should be enough playing time to see what he can do. Then next year the door is open for full time 1st or a trade to a team with an OF opening.
