I really don't know what to make of the potential infield. Durbin really just seems like a 2B guy to me but I don't think he is that guy to move Turang yet. My guess is we add a cheaper 3B option in FA (Berti/Rojas) and if Durbin plays well for a month or two in AAA (playing 3B) he takes over 3B. If the offense is there but not quite defense we shuffle the IF next offseason.

I think Aaron Ashby would be my second option to be closer now that he is pushed out of the rotation. I would have him be a multi inning guy or 6th starter. If he pitches like he did at the end of the year anything is an option.

I would love to trade Peguero or Payamps for another Comp pick (probably B) and like a lotto prospect and add to that bounty.

I would only trade Civale/Cortes for a really sweet deal at this point. I really like a rotation of Peralta, Woody, Civale, Cortes, Myers with Ashby, Hall, Misi, Patrick, Henderson, and Patrick making crazy good depth. There might not be an ace there but all of those guys can be solid #3 with upside to be #2 starters if firing on all gears. My guess is that 1 of Woody, Cortes, Civale are really good and surefire QO options, 1 is solid and an iffy QO candidate (possible trade candidate for good offer) and 1 isn't great (or injuries) and would be an easy trade candidate (if not hurt). Between the 6 non rotation guys I would guess a couple have really good years and take over a rotation spot and the swing man spot.

I am thinking Brett Baty would be an ideal add for 3rd base especially if his value has gone down some and we aren't looking to make any huge deals after the Devin trade. I know he was rough his rookie year defensively and the bat has been iffy but there is upside there. We could send them like Peguero and Monesario maybe a lower level prospect or possiblt just Tyler Black and Baty could play some 1B and 3B.

I don't think it is really replacing the HR's as mentioned before we have plenty of guys who can pick up the slack. I think the worry is having a portion of the lineup that doesn't hit many xbh in general. Turang, Chourio, Yeli, Contreras, Mitchell, Rhys, Sal, Ortiz, Durbin/Dunn That leaves like 4 spot 7-1 that aren't really threats to go deep and didn't hit a ton of 2B. If/when Mitchell gets hurt and Perkins is in that is 5 spots. Add in that the potential bench pieces like Mone and Collins don't have much power that hurts some. I am not crazy worried about it but injuries could really make it an issue.

If it was just Frelick for Robert great but I am sure the CWS are looking for a couple Frelick style peices and more. Maybe they would take back Rhys to balance salaries?

I like Rengifo but with the current value of starting pitching I would want a top 20 prospect back from them as well (top 20 for our system probably like top 12 from LA) I kind of like the rotation the way it is. Rengifo would be a solid get but I would much rather give up a prospect to get him instead of Civale.

With the pitching market like this, could Cortes, Civale, and Woody all get QO if they pitch really well. Are we allowed to give multiple QO's and get picks for each? It wouldn't surprise me to see each of these guys put up 150+ innings with low 3 era's. I would say that would be better than guys like Kikuchi, Severino. Pivetta (if Pivetta gets over 50 million).

Agree, Tucker is probably the top 2025-26 free agent. Unless the Cubs go like 12/400 I doubt Tucker resigns. Paredes should be good in Houston with his pulling ways. I thought Cam Smith was way underrated as the 14th pick and played great in 30 some games. Wesneski isn't a huge value but with starter prices he can be a solid 5 if need be or nice multi inning guy out of the pen.

I could still see Peguero or Payamps moved for the right price. I don't think Durbin is guaranteed a spot but it is looking to me like we might be happy going to spring with Sal/Dunn and Mone/Durbin as our 3B platoon options. If we are going to keep Black to platoon with Rhys I would look at what we can get for Perkins and kind of have Yeli and Black as the 4/5 OF.

I don't think it is overinvesting in prospect rankings it just is that Durbin has a ton of worrisome question marks. I will say that the Yankees farm system is pretty bad so there should be some question marks not being a top 30 prospects even if it is from size bias. 1)Weak exit velo 2)extremely pull happy (I haven't seen the data, but someone said this) 3) injury prone 4)Probably only fit for 2B everyday 5) Was thrown away by the Braves for next to nothing. Heck, I hope that he turns into Dustin Pedrioa/Jose Altuve as much as anyone, he sounds like a good guy and Brewers type of player.

The last report of us getting 4.5 million makes me feel a bit better about not getting a better prospect. Cortes will be fine if Hook and Crew can help his changeup and sweeper there is some upside. Durbin sounds nice and the contact skills and athleticism fit our system to a T, but every time I see something good there is something bad to go with it. It seems like he has been playing everywhere but is really only a 2B if an everyday player. I guess for me this comes down to if Nestor Cortes pitches well enough and gets us a comp. pick. If so I say great deal, if he doesn't pitch well we got hosed. What is 4.5 mill worth in prospect status maybe like 15-20 in our organization?

Just reported that we are getting 4.5 million in the deal as well. I don't mind that if we put that money to use well.

Cortez isn't better than Devin, he throws 92mph with poor secondary pitches. I think I read Devin is projected 8.3 on Nestor is 8.4. If you want to say that is saving money go for it but come that is a wash. Devin has been one of the best relievers the past 5 years, Nestor is more like a weak #3/good #4. Don't let sour grapes from the Alonso HR change this.

I am still holding out hope that there is more to this. It seems like we are selling low. I get that Nestor has had some good seasons and has some ability to be a top of the rotation guy like 21 and 22 but he seems to have regressed. Looking at last year his fastball (92mph) and cutter were good but his sweeper and changeup were negatives so maybe we can do our magic there. I am sure I will warm up to Durbin but he seems like the 3rd piece we should get a team like the Yankees to throw in based on prospect status. There is a lot to like in te stats, especially the higher bb than k's. I just really am picturing an Oliver Dunn type player who at 5'6" is likely a 2B (sorry stereotyping him based on size). I guess I was really looking for someone to dream on here and it's really meh. If Nestor is good enough to turn down a QO and get us a comp pick this is fine but it doesn't seem like selling high for sure.

I think both Uribe and Yoho both need to be groomed to be the closer/setup men come 2026. The guys we have are solid but Uribe and Yoho can be the next Hader/Devin for a while if we can put the last couple pieces of their development together.

With the crazy high prices what would it take to comfortably trade Freddy Peralta. Crochet has more upside because he throws harder but Freddy has been way more consistent. If we could get 2 top 100 style prospects and 2 more solid pieces I would have a hard time turning that down if there was a mlb ready arm in the deal. Here are a couple swoop us of off our feet style deals I think could interest us. Freddy to the O's for Samul Basallo, Cade Povich, Dylan Beavers, Keeler Morfe to the Braves for AJ Smith Shawver, Hurston Waldrop, Nacho Alvarez to the Angels for Caden Dana, George Klassen, Dario Lavarde, Randy DeJuses to the Rangers for Josh Jung and Emiliano Teodo, I am sure there could be better deals and swap out prospects for mlb players but I do think with the crazy value being put on starting pitching we should be looking at selling high on Freddie for the right price.

I would rather have Devin than Arraez to be honest. There probably is a scenerio I would take Arraez but my offer would be more like Payamps and a mid level prospect.

My guess is that there would be 4 or 5 teams willing to take on all of Correa's contract and I doubt that we can compete with a team that would do that if we need the Twins to pay 10+ million a year.

With the bullpen depth it would really surprise me if he makes the roster. That being said I would be surprised if the brass keeps a guy like Yoho in the minors for a month to see if this guy can stick on the big league club. Both Thomas and and the newly acquired Wolfram had very successful Arizona Fall Leagues in the 2022 offseason.

This makes up for losing Shane Smith to a degree. Sounds like we think more of a Koenig upside here than a harder throwing Hudson.
