  1. I am interested to see if Dunn gets another start or if Ortiz is going to play 3B. Maybe Sal plays 3B and Perkins gets a start.
  2. Agree, I just meant not as good. I think Payamps, Wilson, Milner will be more like 3 ERA guys, still good but not as good.
  3. Post game notes. 1) Holy Hoskins, I love how he has handled himself through the controversy. Hasn't backed down, but hasn't made things worse. Obviously having a day like today makes that easy. 2) Jury is still out on Hall, I was hoping he would be 93-95 not 91-93. Maybe he gains a mph or two as the season goes through. 3) I am done with Bauers through 1 start, nice double in the opener but dont argue a looking 3rd strike when you are 0-4 with 4 k's. 4) Young guys look great, Chourio and Turang especially. 5)Bullpen issue are worrisome, I just don't see Wilson and Milner (Payamps) being as good as last year.
  4. I don't get why there can't be an ump in a booth or NY that takes a 5 second look at that between pitches and says yeah foul ball. What's the point of having review if it can't be used on game changing obvios plays.
  5. Mlbtraderumors.com just reported we designated Haase for assignment. Does that mean Dunn gets the last roster spot.
  6. With Mitchell getting hurt so much I am think maybe a mid-season Mitchell trade would make sense. Give him 30 or so games back after his injury to restore his value and then trade him to a team who is out of contention. Maybe like a Mitchell for Shane Bieber (and lesser prospect) would work if we are playing well.
  7. Does anyone have info on Gasser on the IL? I know it is bone spurs and he should only miss a few weeks. I guess, just don't know what bone spurs entail.
  8. Good point on Miller at 1st. I took me a bit to figure out who would play 1st at Nashville. I doubt Clarke will be in AA long, like you said Miller is probably the 1st one called up (maybe Weimer).
  9. I think our season really depends on out young bats. The rotation isn't going to be great but we should be able to find 5 average (4 era) pitchers with the 8 or 9 candidates. The bullpen will be good but probably not as good as last year with Devin out. The offense is the difference maker if Turang, Ortiz, Frelick, Chorio, and others (Mitchell, Weimer, Black) develop into average or better hitter this team will be in it. If our young guys hit sub 240 we aren't doing anything.
  10. I am so ready. Hall and Gasser develop into #3 starters. Frelick, Chourio, Turang, Ortiz, (Black, Weimer, and Mitchell eventually) bats develop quickly. Adames, Contreras, Yeli, and Hoskins all get MVP votes. Freddy wins the Cy Young and the pen is dominant. On top of that the farm consistently develops and we have like 7-8 top 100 prospects at the end of the year.
  11. We still have plenty of OF depth. Yeli, Frelick, Chorio, Weimer, Perkins with Bauers and Haase who can play a bit of OF as well. Weimer cab be up in a week or so if need be and Perkins as a 4th OF is still solid. Yeli won't DH as much and Sal maybe only plays a bit in the IF to start but nothing major.
  12. The Braves released Penn Murfee, funky reliever with decent success. We don't need him but tye Guardians let Myles Straw go. I think any team that picks him up would need to take his contract however. Strz had like an ERA of 8 in the dbacks AAA last year. Pass for me.
  13. To many variable right now. We have to see if Sal I going to be an IF, if so maybe we keep both. Chourio, Weimer, Mitchell is a good long term OF. Yelich can DH or be traded if the young guys hit.
  14. Gard has been an acceptable coach, I don't disagree. His record has been great. I agree with the reasons you mentioned to keep him and add in that there would likely be a sizeable buyout after extending him recently (not sure how much). However I just don't see any attributes that make him a great coach. Based on that recording from a few years ago he doesn't care about the players. He doesn't recruit well, he doesn't run exceptional set plays or a complicated offense. I guess I would rather be risky and take a chance on a new younger coach. Opposed to knowing we will be around 22-10 every year and not have more upside than the sweet 16.
  15. The Bucks look like they are coming together. Middleton especially has looked much better since returning from injury. On a seperate note, I really think the front office needs to look into getting younger this offseason. This team is getting old fast. I really like the idea of drafting Ighodara from Marquette or Clingan from UConn as a heir to Brook. Then make a couple trades to get younger. 1) Bobby Portis for Tari Eason and Jock Landale. The Rockets have to much 3/4 youth (Brooks, Smith Jr., Eason, Thompson, Whitmore). Portis gives them a solid vet to give them toughness with Sengun. We take back Landale to make it happen. 2) Pat C and #35 for Tre Jones and a future 2nd I am pretty sure San Antonio signs and/or drafts a point guard for Wemby. Jones is an good defender and super efficient player. He might be a bit small to play beside Lillard but he might be able to. Re-sign Beasley 1) Lillard/Jones 2) Beasley/A Jax/Green 3) Middleton/Eason/Marjon 4) Giannis/Oso 5)Brook/Landale Our starting line is still old/experienced but we would have youth all over the bench.
  16. Dang, sounded like Storr was non-commital about returning when asked as well.
  17. I am done with Gard (have been for a few years). 1) No Wisconsin recruiting, the Wisconsin kids are transfers. We have to get the top talent in our own state. 2) No development, especially from the bigs. Ethan Happ, Khalil Iverson, Nate Reuers, Ben Carlson, Ilver, Gilmore Wahl, and Crawl didn't improve any part of there games other than getting stronger. It was a staple of Bennett and Ryan with bigs that can shot. Aleem Ford and Micah Potter are the only guys who improves and Potter was a transfer and Ford averaged under 9 points a game as a senior. 3) Iso sets a big moments. Way to often coming out of a timeout in a big spot the play call is iso for Chucky Hepburn.
  18. I have a hard time believing Ohtani knew nothing about this. I am not saying he did any gambling or anything illegal. But at last I heard he (his lawyers) said he knew nothing about this and the friend/interpreter stole the money. From what I gather these two were best friends and spend massive amounts of time together. Maybe you don't know how much he owes but Ohtani definitely would have known he had a gambling problem. I also feel like no illegal booking is going to give an interpreter a 4.5 million dollar line of credit even if his best friend is Shohei. I will be behind the innocent until proven guilty, I am just super skepticle on the he knew nothing about it aspect.
  19. Yelich, Turang, Frelick, Mitchell, and Chourio all probably have a shot at 30 stolen bases. Maybe even a couple at 40 or more. Weimer, Black, Andruw, Perkins, and Ortiz should all steal some when they get their chance.
  20. Is there a date that the organization announces minor league rosters (placement). I am really excited to see where guys are placed this year especially most of our younger talent.
  21. Could be a lot of things, he probably has a couple teams interesting in a 1 year + option deal and Boris is just trying to max out the amount.
  22. What about the idea of sending Joey Ortiz to AAA, if I remember correctly he doesn't need a ton of time in AAA to gain an extra year of control. If Sal is going to play alot of 3rd and Turang is the 2B starter it makes a lot of sense to have Ortiz in AAA and Andruw in the bigs for the 1st month. I am not a huge fan of arbitration manipulation but as a small market team it is something we need to do when it makes sense.
  23. I think Miley starts on the DL but still makes his start as the 5th starter. Gasser starts in AAA but after like 2 starts gets called up as the 6th starter. Wilson and Ross in the bullpen gives us 2 long men at least to start the year. Ashby in AAA can get right and help out early in the year in the pen or rotation. Peralta can hopefully go 30 starts with 180 innings, Then Rae, Junis, and Miley give us 75 starts combined at around 400 innings that leave 55-60 starts for our younger starters.
  24. Lorenzen sign for 4.5 million with the Rangers today. I was against signing another starter but at 4.5 that seems like highway robbery. If that is all it will take to get Clevinger I would be all in.
  25. Wow, are the Reds having injury/roids issues. Marte 80 games, sounds like Mclain has a potential serious injury, TJ Friedl is hurt, and top prospect Edwin Arroyo is going to have shoulder surgury.
