  1. So Wilson 3/4, Tobias 3/4, with Hudson and Payamps to finish. Any idea why Jake Bauers keeps hitting 3 or 4. He has had a couple big hit but I don't get it, I would much rather have basically anyone in today's lineup hit 3 hole over him today.
  2. Myers has good stuff, lots of spin if I remember but it would seem needs to hone the accuracy to get ahead of batters.
  3. A quick check-in on the eventual/hopeful market for Devin/Willy at the deadline. Devin- The Rangers, Rays, and Phillies are the only contending teams with concerns at closer, if the Royals keep playing well you could add them to the list. Of course big market teams like the Dodgers and Yankees can't be ruled out and injuries my August could create holes. Hopefully by the deadline Devin can have 10ish games under his belt and re-build his value. Willy- Trading Willy if we are in contention would be tough especially if he is playing like he has. That being said the play of Turang and Ortiz would make it easier to swallow, we would probably need 2 really nice pieces to trade him since I think we will get a comp for him (he probably is inching his way back towards a $100 million payday. The Red Sox, Rays, Guardians, Tigers, Dodgers (Betts back to 2B), and D-backs could really draw his value up. I know it is way way to early for trade deadline deals but what do we think about this as a give some up, get something back. 1) Trade Devin to Rays for Xavier Issac, Cole Wilcox, and Keyshawn Askew This isn't like the Rays but we get a big bat and 2 high potential arms. 2) Trade Willy to LA for Joendry Vargas and Jake Gelof A little bit of an upside gamble but think of Vargas as the comp. pick and Gelof as the incentive to trade Willy early. 3) Trade Carlos Rodriguez, Luis Lara, and Aaron Ashby to Minn. for Pablo Lopez I feel like the Twins are not going to come out of a disappointing start to the season, Rodriguez and Lara help the Twins re-build and Ashby offsets some contract and gives a 3rd upside potential piece for the Twins. 4) Trade Joey Weimer/Garrett Mitchell, Logan Henderson, and Mike Boeve (maybe smaller 4th piece) for Jazz Chisholm and Tanner Scott Chisholm is a was a very good defensive 2B, he would essentially take over 2B this year and could be moved into a super utility eventually if Wilken can stick at 3rd or maybe Sal really becomes and IF. Scott gives us a high end option at the end of games. We get 5 prospects for the 5/6 prospects we give up and we get more control over Lopez and Jazz then we would Willy and Devin.
  4. Even coming back to Earth in this 3 game losing streak we have managed 11 runs vs. Burnes, Musgrove, Cease. I feel like last year a bad stretch was like 5-6 runs in 3 games. Any thoughts on Joey Ortiz just being the everyday 3B, Ortiz/Dunn has been a great platoon but Ortiz has looked so steady with the bat. I really see him turning into a perfect #2 hitter who can work a lot of hit and run and not strikeout much. Sal, Ortiz, Yeli, William, Black, Rhy, Turang, Chourio, 2B/3B looks like an amazing lineup for next year (after deadline).
  5. Do we have any ideas on who is starting, Freddie/callup, Wilson? Our bullpen is definitely not in shape to have a bullpen day, My guess is Wilson, he hasn't pitched since last Wednesday (3 ip, 42 pitches) maybe we make a roster move and get a fresh AAA arm. Koenig looked good the past 2 days but will need a couple days and Megill seems ready. Hopefully no DL for Miley
  6. We have a bunch of pitchers turning heads Myers, Blalock, Woessner, Wichrowski, and basically everyone in Carolina. Tyler Black, Owen Miller, Brewer Hicklen, Mike Boeve, Matt Wood, Yophery, Juan Baez, and Tayden Hall look to be off to good starts at the dish.
  7. With the White Sox, Marlins, and Rockies off to terrible starts is there any pitching to be had? Obviously the Marlins have some arms but likely would wait until healthier to trade or we would overpay this early. The Rockies really don't have anything great but maybe there is a diamond in the rough. Garrett Crochet and Michael Kopech are interesting arms that could be available at some point. Not sure I would give up a big package for either given past problems.
  8. Hopefully this doesn't linger all year. With that start to the year I was having flashbacks to mvp caliber Yeli dancing in my head.
  9. I think this is how most of the season will go a couple games where he looks off and a couple games where he looks like a superstar. Hopefully the 0-4's turn into 1-4 or 0-3 w/ walk, to be honest he is way ahead of where I was hoping he would be. I felt like if we could get .250/.300/.425 from him with 15ish HR and 20+ sb I would be very happy. At this point, a 30/30 season is reasonable (or better) maybe .275 ba if he can improve as the season goes on isn't crazy and I suspect his k/bb rate to improve.
  10. It seems like every team has a ton of players injured, especially pitchers. Has anyone read anything with any stats on the amount of injuries in the league so far. It just feels like every time has 2ish starters on the IL and a key piece of the bullpen or two. Maybe it is nothing and this thread isn't needed.
  11. Offensively Rhys is about where we would have expected .800 ops with 30 hr pace. I agree that the defense and double plays are concerning but coming off an lost year I will give him another week or two before thinking he needs to be a full time DH.
  12. No to Kemp, may as well bring up Owen Miller in that case. I would give Weimer a start or two and then it Brewer the Brewer time.
  13. I love how we do this rotate good arms on the fringe of rosters dance. Most of our bullpen has kind of been these pickups who show enough and work their way into a full time gig. It stink for guys like Herget but it is what we have to do to have an affordable and effective pen.
  14. Anyone know what Murph was upset about there in the 7th. I am stuck watching the O's broadcast and no one knew.
  15. https://www.mlb.com/gameday/brewers-vs-padres/2023/04/13/718589/final/wrap Here is a box score from the 14th game last year. What an amazing job Arnold (and the development team) has done with the offense and bullpen. Even piecing together a decent rotation. At this point last year that team was 9-4, I have way more faith in this team than last years. Especially if our prospects stop getting hurt and we can find another top of the rotation starter to trade for down the road.
  16. Great to see all the amazing young pitchers that were later picks/lower int. signing pitching well. Great job on getting some solid video, Letson's breaking balls looked really strong.
  17. Here is my favorite mock as of now 1)C Jackson Powers-Johnson I am not a huge Myers fan, one of Myers/Johnson could move to G this year and solidify the interior line before we lose Myers next year (potentially). Johnson would anchor a more power centered run game. 2)S Tyler Nubin I think he would be a perfect fit next to McKinnley, I wouldn't mind taking him in the 1st even if it is a bit of a reach. 2)T Kingsley Suamataia This is kind a an upside pick, he was a huge recruit and wasn't exceptional at BYU. He has all the potential of a top 10 pick but may need a year to realize his potential. 3)LB Junior Colson I am at the point where I like most of the LB's but don't love any of them, we can get a good one in the 3rd and maybe double up later in the draft. 3) S/CB Dadrion Taylor-Demerson Demerson would be a nice depth pick, he could play in a lot of sub packages early in his career and has the upside to be a solid starter at S or CB because of the athletism. 4) TE Theo Johnson At 6'6" 260, he was a combine star. He didn't have a great career and Penn. St but again this would be an upside pick and give us insurance if Kraft or Musgrave get inquired. 5) RB Ray Davis Kind of like LB, I like a lot of the RB's but haven't found that guy. There will be some good RB's that fall to day 3. 6)LB Nathaniel Watson Super productive college career, as a 3rd/4th ilb we will take it. 6) DL/Edge Logan Lee Another productive career, at 6"5 280ish he can be used a bunch of ways. 7) QB Austin Reed Kind of a project at QB, but with Clifford there is upside, I like an old school gunslinger. 7) K Will Riechard Please no Carlson, I know we signed guys to compete with Carlson, Riechard was pretty reliable at Bama I will take it. I think this draft has a nice blend of upside and day 1 ready guys that would provide depth now and some all-pro's later.
  18. To go up to 6 is going to cost alot more, add in next years 1st and you are close. I like Alt a bunch but we can find o-line help cheaper.
  19. It's going to be a good day to follow games. Go Brewers
  20. I am not real worried about exit velocity this early. For starters Sal at his best is never going to hit for power. As more of a slap hitter, he will just never own that stat. That being said 1 xbh in 38 abs is worrisome. I feel like Turang has been hitting the ball hard so far, he has had a bloop or two and some seeing eye singles. I think he has also attempted a couple bunts that may lowering his average velo. For both of these guys as long as they are keeping k's down, take their walks, and put the ball in play (use their speed) they will be alright.
  21. Does Perkins get another start? He has been awesome the past couple games. Where are we on Bauers, I don't like that he has more AB's than guys like Ortiz and Perkins but his defense has been superb. I like the player and fit but he needs to hit, especially with Black not far off. What about moving Contreras down to #4? Adames and Rhys aren't quite hot enough to be clean up. I like sound of 1)Sal LF 2)Chourio RF 3)Yeli DH 4)C Contreras 5)SS Willy 6)2B Turang 7)1B Rhys 8)CF Perkins 9)3B Ortiz (or Dunn)
  22. Wow, loving Dylan O'Rae I was happy they were aggressive and put him in A+. If he keeps playing the way he has he might force his way to AA by June-ish. Boeve also is probably a guy who could get a promotion earlier in the season especially if Wilken heats up and forces his way into AAA.
  23. He is also listed at 6'2" 172 so he should be around 100 when he fills out.
