  1. Good stuff, I would add some of those power hitting 1B/3B types. Never bad to add extra arms. Is there a reliable website that lists minor league free agents?
  2. Yankees and Dodgers traded Jorbit Vivas and Victor Gonzalez for Trey Sweeney I like all 3 of those guys.
  3. When Yamamoto, Snell, and Montgomery sign the trade offers will get better and more serious. I am sure Arnold was busy setting lots of connections. It usually seems like January is our busiest month.
  4. If he gave up pitching he is worth less than being able to field. I am sure he would be a great RF or 1B but if he plays the field it would likely make it tough to pitch. Just the amount of throwing before the game and in between innings would throw off a pitching regiment.
  5. How many championships do they need to win to justify the deal. I see Ohtani as a 10/300 hitter (as a DH only he is worth less than Judge and some of the other superstars. As a pitcher I would have a hard time giving a guy who is going to miss the year because of a second elbow injury over 100 million. Maybe add in 100 million for publicity/advertisment and other fringe benefits. Still puts it 200 million short.
  6. Sorry my last post should start, i wouldn't trade Frelick, not I would trade. Forgot to edit.
  7. I would pass unless he is a throw in for a Burnes or Williams trade that gets us a better prospect. In that case, I would still want the Pads to throw in some cash for the end of that contract. Without Cronenworth= Burnes for Snelling, Mazur, Pauley With Cronenworth= Burnes and Peguero for Robby Snelling, Jackson Merrill, and Cronenworth. For me getting Merrill would make this a go.
  8. So Ohtani is going to make more than how many teams next year? It's sad that the Dodgers will be paying Ohtani about 6 whole years of the entire Brewers payroll. On top of that it sounds like a lot of the money is differed so they will probably still have money to get another top of the rotation arm or 2.
  9. Any chance Wes Clarke could do double a double platoon and be the backup catcher and split 1st with Black and or Bauers? I really thought he would need a half year or so in AAA. I really like Clarke but he isn't quite the type of prospect to skip AAA (mostly because of lower BA).
  10. I really like the idea of Black becoming a super utility guy who is like a 4th OF, plays 1B, 2B. 3B and DH's when no one needs a day off. I have loved Miguel Vargas as an option for us. He can play 3B, 2B, or 1B and has a middle of the order potential bat. It hasn't been mentioned but getting a SS that is mlb ready isn't a bad idea either. I still believe that Turang will be a quality bat but if not getting a SS prospect who could easily transition to 3B or 2B would make sense.
  11. I wouldn't trade Sal. He is going to be a perfect leadoff hitter who can play plus defense at all three OF spots (gold glove in LF). Also he won't like cost crazy money to keep long term because he won't be hitting a lot of HR's. Weimer and Mitchell will have similar trade values and are more viotile to keep. I am hopeful we have LF Frelick batting 1, CF Chourio batting 2-3, and RF Weimer/Mitchell batting 3-5 for the next 10 years or so. I've said this since the Chourio signing. Our best path foward is trading Yeli.
  12. I could see them getting 2 of Beiber, Cease, Glasnow if they really wanted. Marte and Lodolo for Cease India and Williamson for Beiber/Glasnow Cease, Beiber/Glasnow, Martinez, Greene, Abbott, Ashcraft is a crazy good rotation. There pen is solid and we know about the young bats. I could be a remarkable division if the Cubs add a couple of the top free agents, the Cards will be better with the starters they have gotten, and even the Pirates announced they would be adding payroll.
  13. All those pitchers have control and some upside. I really like King, to me he is close to Freddy Peralta. King=Peralta, Thorpe=Gasser/Rodriguez, Brito and Vasquez=Houser circa 2020, Higi=Between Henry and Caratini It is possible the Pads got 2-5 starters, pairing them with Darvish and Musgrave should be a solid rotation. Especially with a couple of the young arms they have in their system.
  14. The Reds signed Candelario 3/45. Really confusing unless they have huge trade for pitching with there infield surplus.
  15. Be aggressive look towards mlb ready players. I really would love to move on from Yeli, Adamas, and Burnes if we can get the right players. While that might really negatively affect the casual Brewer fan but done right could make a Braves/Rangers type lineup (lots of could be). That assumes our development team can actual develop some bats.
  16. Right defensively he only fits full time into 2B and the Cubs are set with Hoerner. He has shown great tools and it would be wise of the Cubs to try and sell high, Glasnow for Morel and another prospect would be a decent get for Tampa if Morel doesn't go on the Baez track and chase everything.
  17. I read that the Cubs would possibly give up Morel for Glasnow. If that is the case I would love to go after Brandon Lowe. A power hitting 2B that is affordable for up to 3 years or can dump him if he doesn't work. Decent defense and would be relatively cheap on the prospect value if the Ray's are looking to dump some payroll, maybe like Wilson and a throw in prospect or AAAA type player (Miller).
  18. I think Rodriguez is a good bet, I doubt we go crazy on anyone else unless they are hitting crazy. Baez could be but I feel like his defense will slow him down. I doubt Pratt move quick, maybe a A+ ball audition at the end of the year. I could see Dylan O'Rae move quick if he shows the plate discipline he did last year. Of higher level player maybe a pitcher like Logan Henderson if he is healthy. Luis Lara could move from A+ to AA quickly with AAA later in the year. Wilken could go from a few AA ball ab's late last year to the bigs if he plays well and Black isn't what we hoped defensively at 3rd.
  19. Weimer and Adames for Miguel Vargas, Kyle Hurt, Hunter Feduccia Payamps for Connor Norby Burnes for Mick Abel and Christipher Sanchez Yelich to SF for Mitch Haniger, Grant McCray, Mason Black I am all for get young mlb talent for our vets. We sign Hoskins 2/40 option to opt out after 1 for Hoskins. Abel, Hurt, and Black give us three arms to build a young top end rotation in the near future (Peralta, Abel, Hurt, Black, Rodriguez, Misi, Ashby, Gasser, Sanchez). Vargas, Norby, and Black for a 3 person platoon at 2B/3B and maybe DH/1B occasionally. I just threw out Jake Bauers in this situation. Grant McCray provides a high end OF talent for the minors. C: William Contreras ($0.77M) 1B: Rhy Hoskins ($20M) 2B: Conner Norby ($0.77M) 3B: Miguel Vargas ($0.77M) SS: Brice Turang ($.77M) LF: Sal Frelick ($.77M) CF: Jackson Chourio ($0.77M) RF: Garrett Mitchell ($1.70M) DH: Mitch Haniger ($13M) Bench OF: Tyrone Taylor ($1.7M) Utility: Tyler Black ($.77M) Utility: Andrew Montesario ($.77M) Backup C: Hunter Feduccia ($.77M) SP1: Christopher Sanchez ($.77M) SP2: Freddy Peralta ($5.50M) SP3: Wade Miley ($07.5M) SP4: Adrian Houser ($5.60M) SP5: Colin Rea ($3.50M) CL: Devin Williams ($6.50M) RP: Abner Uribe ($0.77M) RP: Hoby Milner ($1.70M) RP: Bryse Wilson ($1.30M) RP: Ross/Vieira ($.77M) RP: Trevor Megill ($0.77M) RP: Elvis Peguero ($0.77M) RP: Robert Gasser/Ashby ($.77M) Payroll is 43.18% under budget
  20. Paredes would be great but I agree the price would be to big. He would take at 2 of good prospects. Unless there is a 3 team trade that works I'd pass. I would think about Quero for Paredes straight up would be interesting but I'd still pass. Williams to Rangers Weimer, Brock Porter, and Josh Stephen to Tampa We get Paredes and 1B Ortiz Still don't like it.
  21. With the Dodgers moving Mookie to 2B I feel like Michael Busch and Miguel Vargas are available. Would Joey Weimer for Miguel Vargas work we turn OF surplus into a high potential bat who could play 1B/2B/3B. Vargas has a rough start but had a hand injury and wasn't allowed to swing in Spring Training big bounce back potential.
  22. I think he is a good candidate to move to the bullpen Ala Wilson last year. If his fastball plays up a mph or 2 his fastball slider combo could work well. I am sure this is for the minimum so has to be in AAA for a bit it won't hurt. This move makes me think we could be moving a bullpen piece/s in the near future.
  23. I could see Burnes but I doubt they give up prospects for Williams. They have 2 of the best relievers in the AL even if Bautista is out this year it would become a bit redundant. I would think they sign an older reliever or two with backend experience. Otherwise Payamps would make more sense for them at a lower package.
  24. Nice, not sure if this makes a Burnes trade more or less likely but this would be solid on a 1 or 2 year deal.
  25. I think you should have him try 1st at least. I have a very Bill Buckner ball threw the legs image of Yeli at 1st. Yeli at DH primarily would be fine but he really is to good of an athlete to be a full time DH. I really think that there is going to be a good trade for him/us later in the offseason once the top 5/10 bats sign. If we trade Burnes and Adames, Yeli would likely accept a trade especially to California the Giants, Angels, and Dodgers could all use outfield help and have money to spend. Giants for Conforto/Mitchell Haniger and 2 mid prospects Angels for Tyler Anderson, Brandon Drury, and a higher prospect. Dodgers for Rojas, and mid 2 prospects Do we get a can't miss return anywhere, no, but we get out of the later years of the deal. We also get some prospects and have a ton money to spend for 2025 offseason.
