  1. Lux was a 2.5 war player in 2022, plays solid defense (2B) and is controlled for 3 years. He hit .276/.346/.745, there isn't much power or base stealing ability which does limit his value especially coming off an injury. He is a hometown kid and would be ok, I would probably prefer a bigger upside guy but maybe that os the guy we just traded for from the Phillies. I would go after Vargas or Busch for sure and add a bit more if need be to get them. Also there are problems 6-10 pitchers I would go for before Lux as well.
  2. Would be a good fit, the Dodgers they have lots of middle IF options Busch, Lux, Rojas, Vargas, Vivas but no high end options. I doubt Adames get us Vargas, Busch, or Lux but maybe add in Houser, a reliever, or Burnes in a bigger deal.
  3. If you told me we would package Moore and Mendez I would have hoped for more than a guy who ranks 23rd on our prospect list. I do like the stats last year and in the AFL. I don't worry much about the age but I wonder if the 20+ HR power is for real. He was like a 3-7 HR guy through college and until last year. If he takes walks, has decent speed, plays a decent 2B, and has decent power this could be a nice find. If the power isn't real he isn't much better than Miller or Montesario. Moore and Mendez aren't huge loses but I probably ranked each from 25-35. For a guy I would put borderline top 20 that will be 26 next year and no AAA experience is meh.
  4. I think this is the most logical since we are keeping most of the staff. I like the idea of getting Rickie Weeks or Matt Erikson to be the bench coach and grooming them to be the manager in a couple years.
  5. I would hate taking Stanton, however if it got us a couple of their higher quality prospects and they ate say 10 million a year I could be sold.
  6. My guess is we will add guys, either from trades of Burnes, Williams, Adames, other or sign a cheaper vet or two.
  7. With the reports of everyone available I believe that really is a declaration that says Yelich is available "if he will accept a trade". For this post I am going to assume all California and higher end contenders are trade possibilities. My guess is that most teams will want to get rid of some salary in any trade and won't give up any top 50-75 prospects (I am going to try and stay out of teams top 5 prospects for the most part. 1) Dodgers for SS Miguel Rojas, P Kyle Hurt, C Thaiyron Liranzo The Dodgers don't have any bad contracts but Yelich would be great in front of Betts and Freeman and the Dodgers have cash and a LF opening. Maybe combine with Burnes or Adames for a stronger package. 2) Giants for OF/DH Haniger, P Mason Black, P Hayden Birdsong The Giants need some firepower and have lots of cash. Yelich would be a big upgrade over Haniger. We get 2 interesting arms out of it and a reclamation project who could be a nice DH. 3)Angels for Tyler Anderson, Brandon Drury, IF Kyren Paris, and P Tyan Costieu This might work the best, the Angels will be desperate to improve and can't rebuild with how bad their farm is. Anderson could be Wade Miley for us and Drury would be great as 2B/3B/1B/DH with Tyler Black. 4)Padres for IF Cronenworth, IF Pauley, P Mazur The pads want to cut salary, doubt taking Yeli works, but maybe if they trade Soto and one other big contract it could work. 5)Mariners for Robbie Ray, P Perlander Berroa, P Jimmy Joyce and C Blake Hunt If healthy Ray for Yeli makes sense, Kelenic moves to RF. Ray offers top of the rotation stuff and half the length of contract. I love Berroa as a late inning reliever or go back to starting (if we can help with command) and being a young Freddy Peralta. 6) Red Sox for Trevor Story, 3B Blaze Jordan, 2B Nick Yorke, and P Luis Perales I really don't like Story but he could rebound with the bat and is a good 2B. I made the prospect package better here because Yeli for 6 is better than Story's 4 (maybe add Houser or a reliever). I doubt Yeli would go to Boston. 7) Yankees for Lemahieu, P Will Warren, and P Clayton Beeter This is a re-thread. LeMahieu for us makes sense and the Yanks get more athletic in the OF, we get 2 interesting arms as well. Again I wouldnt want to go to the Yanks but maybe Yeli would. 8)Mets for Jeff McNeil The Mets could use LF and have an excess 2B/3B. McNeil really isn't a bad contract so maybe we add Elvis Peguro or Houser. Again New York for Yeli is meh, but they will have great teams with 300 million dollar budgets. 9) Philly for Nick Castellanos Castellanos might be a better candidate to play 1B (came up as 3B) and has 3 years left. He fits the Phillies roster a bit better than Castellanos. 10) Monster 3 team Giants get 3B Bogaetz, SS Adames and Yelich, P Adam Mazur, and OF Jacob Marsee Padres get Burnes we get Carson Wisenhunt and Robby Snelling. The Giants spend the money they have been trying to spend the past couple years and get an entire middle of a lineup as well as 2 prospects (to make up for Wisenhunt a bit). The Padres get and ace and shed money short term and long. We get 2 potential aces for our vets, on top of it we save 50 million and can sign a couple interesting free agents.
  8. Solid, especially if you add a couple prospcets from Burnes and Williams. My guess is Gioloto gets close to 20 million based on potential but that fits into your salary.
  9. I doubt Balt gives up Rodriguez even for Burnes and Williams, we could get a great haul if we do send both to 1 place.
  10. I like your trades, however 6 IF prospect might be over doing it. Change 2 of this into pitchers and I am on board. Belt had a really good year, my guess is he gets more like 1/15 or 2/25, still with your budget that is doable.
  11. I think the Baez comment is that Adames is treanding towards Baez. Baez was a .270+ hitter before age 27 and has not made adjustment and is now one of the worst bats in the league. Adames was a .260 hitter and is losing batting average fast. Yes, Adames still has power, takes some walks, and plays top notch defense. However if Adames doesn't change and loses a bit of pop like Baez and defense slowly decrease he could be Baez very easily in 2 years. It makes an extension very worrisome especially for a team with a 120-140 million-ish salary.
  12. Not to shabby, I like Garver and Martinez but we would probably get Westburg and Hall for Burnes no need to add Weimer.
  13. If the price was like Taylor or Houser and a prospect I would say sure. However I have been hearing analyst saying they could get young #3 type starters (Matt Manning, Bryan Woo, Dodgers young guys, etc.). No thanks
  14. I wouldn't release him, he will bring back someone at least similar to the Canha trade. I doubt we get anyone like Gleybar Torres or Connor Norby. I think it kind of depends on how some of our trades/free agents shake out, if we get better pitching prospects who are mlb ready I would probably say trade since we have Rea signed and some AAA depth in case of emergency. If we get IF prospects in trades I would be fine keeping him, maybe dealing at the deadline if Rodriguez/Misi are ready.
  15. I didn't want to make a payroll thing for this but here is an interesting sell everything scenerio that in no way do I support but was pondering all day. 1)Trade Yeli to SF for Haniger, P Mason Black, P Landon Roupp 2)Peralta to Balt. for C/1B Samuel Basallo, 2B Connor Norby, P DL Hall, OF Billy Cook 3) Burnes to LAD for P Frasso, P Hurt, C H Feduccia, UTL A Gauthier 4)Williams to Tex for P Brock Porter, 1B A Ortiz, P M Church 5)Contreras to Tampa for P Taj Bradley, SS Carson Williams 6)Payamps, Houser to NYY for P Will Warren 7)Milner to SDP for P Adam Mazur, P Alex Jacob 8)Adames, Taylor to LAA for INF Kyren Paris, P Ben Joyce, P W Urena C)Quero, Basallo, Feduccia 1B)Basallo, Ortiz IF)Norby, Turang, Black, Williams, Paris, Gauthier, Brown, Montesario OF)Frelick, Wiemer, Mitchell, Chourio, Cook, Gauthier, Perkins DH)Haniger SP) Ashby, Gasser, Bradley, Frasso, Warren, Hurt, Misi, C Rodriguez, Black, Roupp, Porter, Mazur, Henderson RP)Uribe, Megill, Peguero, Wilson, Vieira, DL Hall, Church, Joyce, Jacob (convert starters) We would have some a ton of money to sign some high quality players to 1/2 year deals (IE Giolito, Hoskins, Bauer)
  16. I doubt they are blowing it up. To me it is a easy way to say Burnes, Yeli, Adames, Houser, Rowdy, reliever, etc. are available without having to answer a specific "we want to trade Yeli" statemnet.
  17. I think we should always go into the offseason that everyone is always available. If someone offered us a top 10 prospcet and like 3 top 100 guys they could have Chourio or whomever they want. To me the Athletic report is basically a nice/easy way to tell Yeli and there league that he is available. I doubt when it says everyone is available that means full rebuild, just we are open to trade our vets. I can't see us trading Peralta, Contreras, or any of the young rookies/prospects.
  18. Of that list Espada maybe would be my top, however I think he has a good shot at the Astros job. My money is on Murphy, maybe you have Rickie or Erikson be the bench coach and groom him for the manager job in a couple years.
  19. I like all these ideas, I agree we would want more for Williams and Hoskins will get something like 2/36 that Conforto got last year. I am still conflicted on Bauer but agree that Milwaukee would be a perfect low key market for him to come back to and we could use the top of the rotation potential.
  20. I don't mind the low change approach it just seems like we would be stuck in the sand a bit. Without Woody this team likely won't be much better. Obviously if the young bats improve that could be wrong. I kind of want our team to look almost like the Reds last year. Steer into the young bats and get what upside pitching we can. With the Reds and Pirates likely improving with young talented rosters and it seems like the Cards and Cubs will spend some money it is going to be a very tough division next year.
  21. Trade Burnes and Weimer to LAD for Miguel Vargas, Ryan Pepiot, Alex Vesia, Hunter Feduccia Adames to Marlins for Trevor Rogers and prospect Payamps for Connor Norby Houser for a prospect (whatever we can get) Sign Luis Severino 1/10 with incentives for innings option for 2025 I'd also sign Contreras 6/68 million with a couple of options (1/4/8/15/20/20) Woody 2/22 with incentives (4/18) Chourio mid-season ??? 8/111 (same deal as Corbin Carroll) These deals would allow us to also have money and one of the best farm systems to go get a big name at the deadline if need be. C: William Contreras ($1M) 1B: Carlos Santana ($5.00M) 2B: Connor Norby ($.77M) 3B: Miguel Vargas ($0.77M) SS: Brice Turang ($.77M) LF: Christian Yelich ($26.00M) CF: Sal Frelick ($0.77M) RF: Tyrone Taylor ($1.70M) DH: Tyler Black ($0.77M) Bench OF: Garrett Mitchell ($0.77M) Utility: Owen Miller ($0.77M) Utility: Andruw Montaserio ($.77M) Backup C: Henry/Feduccia ($.77M) SP1: Freddy Peralta ($5.5M) SP2: Ryan Pepiot ($.77M) SP3: Trevor Rogers ($2M) SP4: Luis Severino ($10M) SP5: Colin Rea ($3.50M) CL: Devin Williams ($6.50M) RP: Abner Uribe ($0.77M) RP: Hoby Milner ($1.70M) RP: Bryse Wilson ($1.30M) RP: Alex Vesia ($1.5M) RP: Trevor Megill ($0.77M) RP: Elvis Peguero ($0.77M) RP: Robert Gasser/Aaron Ashby ($0.77M) Payroll is 45.37% under budget
  22. If we trade Burnes some of those guys would be nice. I am on the who has the most upside end. Giolito would be interesting on a 1/2 year deal with options both ways. I still like the risk of Luis Severino. To me we can find or have plenty of 4-5 starters relatively cheap. We should take risks on guys who can be solid 2-3 pitchers if our staff can sort out an issue.
  23. If we are going to spend some money and get a current manager I would go Kevin Cash or Mark Kotsay. I also always thought Joe Giradi got a bad rap but don't see him as a great fit. Any chance we could lure Derek Shelton away, I've always like him but doubt he moves on. If from within I'd probably go with Chris Hook just because Sweet is older, Erikson has only been in A ball, and Carlos Villaneauva seems to be on the front office path. I like Will Venebles as an option. He is an ivy grad, has lots of experience and is only 40. 1)Venables 2)Kotsay 3)Shelton (if Kotsay or Shelton in play)
  24. What about vets like Hyun-Jin Ryu, James Paxton, Jake Odorizzi, Frankie Montas, Brad Keller, Alex Wood, or Vince Velasquez as a Wade Miley type free agent? My guess is Miley gets 2/24+ and that is to muc for us. Obviously alot depends on Burnes and other trade but we could still use a vet even with Rea back.
  25. Solano would be a decent add, if we don't add any big names or trade for a young upside IF he would be solid. He really is just a more consistent Owen Miller. He has really hit since 2019, not sure on left/right splits if he is a platoon guy or just a plug and play utl.
