  1. I live for speculation baby.
  2. Any chance we could move Quero in a package for a young star? He is a top 30 prospect and blocked by Contreras. If we package Quero, Weimer, and another prospect or 2 could we find a player like we got in Yelich was? 1 problem is that alot of teams have a good catcher. If we trade Burnes or Williams we could keep the farm strong and improve the big league club. Maybe just flip him for another top30ish prospect that isn't a catcher. Probably we are better served waiting until the trade deadline or next year to worry about flipping Quero. Names: Luis Robert, Dylan Cease, Randy Arozeana (other Rays under the radar pieces) Nolan Gorman, Red infielder (not India), Ceddeanne Rafeala, Jace Jung (+more), Marlins, Yankees package ???. Bobby Witt.
  3. It's been a busy offseason so far. Here is a new thread to jot down ideas or put down things you've heard.
  4. Agreed, I would probably extend Contreras, sign a short term vet, and hope to spend the long term money on Chourio in the near future.
  5. Angel Perdomo would be nice to have back as a 2nd lefty. I like Jovani Moran but I think he is out most of the year so probably not. If we are really serious about Bauers playing 1st maybe Juan Yepez as a platoon. Kyle Lewis was really good in AAA so maybe. Nola or Knizner as a backup catcher. 1)Perdomo 2) Nola 3) Yepez
  6. Nice to see Lara getting some love at #62.
  7. The Mariners traded a decent young reliever to pay Urias who was very good with the Red Sox outside of 1 mega game. The Padres non-tendered Austin Nola who I think would be a decent vet backup for Contreras even though he was trash last year. The Braves made another puzzling trade of Kyle Wright (great in 2022, garbage 23, out all 24) for Jackson Kowar of the Royals who has just been overall bad, even in AAA.
  8. Meh, AAA depth ok but not much more than a Pablo Reyes type players at best. Or at least it would appear that way.
  9. My bad, thanks. I know better.
  10. Agreed, the article/interview of him saying he want to be back around mid-season was likely a ploy by his agent to try and get the Brewers or someone to pick up his option instead of getting like 5 million this year and then being tied to a team option for 2025 if he signs as a FA.
  11. Agreed, I would almost want 3 solid pieces for him. I know that all of the 5 guys the Braves traded for Bummer lost value last year but if it was just Sorotka for Bummer I would say the Braves got ripped off. Bummer was awful, advanced stats are kinder but still not good. If those trade values for relievers stay I would trade Payamps, Wilson, Milner, and Williams and role the dice on finding some more out of no where guys.
  12. I guess if he is non-tendered at least we can still try and sign Woody to a multi year deal. My guess is that big market teams can get more creative and throw around way bigger incentives and risk more.
  13. This trade makes no sense to me. I wouldnt pay Bauers 1.7 million if he was a free agent. He has no options was an average at best defense 1st baseman and terrible OF. He is 5'11" so it's not like he is a great target and from what I can find his splits don't point to a strict platoon boost. Avina isn't a perfect prospect but he seemed to show a lot of improvement at the end of the year and Appleton doesn't seem to be a hitters park. Where as Bauers coming from the Bronx sandbox may actually lose a ballpark boost coming to AFF. At that we also added Brain Sanchez who was pretty decent last year despite being far away. If our starting 1st baseman is Jake Bauers next year we may as well just throw in the flag. This is an F move in my opinion, no upside and basically giving a roster spot to a proven below average player before any big move are made. I am sure this is a player favorite of Arnold's since he was in the Ray's system when Arnold was there.
  14. What would Woody's trade value be? Maybe a couple lotto ticket prospect teenagers? A prospect like the 2B Oliver Dunne we just got?
  15. Not a big fan of Soler, if we are going to spend money I would much rather go after Rhys Hoskins or Jeimer Candelario or a starter like Giolito. Bauer, or Severino. Those guys have been more consistent than Soler and can help us in the field. I feel like Soler is likely to end up being like Willy Adames the past 2 years without the fielding. I will pass on that as our big ticket spending goal.
  16. I would trade Burnes to the Cubs or Cards, however I would want extra value. I really like Matt Shaw as a trade piece. SS Shaw, P Ben Brown, and 1B Matt Mervis would something I would go for. Shaw and Brown as fair value and Mervis as inter-division tax. I like Horton as a center piece as well Maybe Horton, Mervis, and P Luke Little being close to the above proposal.
  17. 21-23 probably for me. At 25 with no AAA experience I have a hard time putting him above the teenagers who played in A ball. I still think he can be a really good big leaguer but from a prospect status the age hurts. If he was 23 even I might put him 12ish (which with 2 lost seasons he could be kind of considered).
  18. Got something more than just releasing him, the pitcher we get could hit 97 when drafted and maybe a good candidate to move to the bullpen. I agree with others that Toro should have gotten a little run/chance last year.
  19. He was a top of the rotation starter in 21 and 22. I would think at absolute worst he could be like Bryse Wilson and be a quality long man with his stuff playing up a but in the bullpen. Would we take over his contol and have to pay arbitration or is he eligible for free agency? 2/12 with some solid incentives seems relatively fair.
  20. I would rather give Wes Clarke 1st base than Smith. Smith hasn't had an ops over .700 in 3 years. If we don't bring in a big name Santana or even Tyler Black would be just fine.
  21. Lux was a 2.5 war player in 2022, plays solid defense (2B) and is controlled for 3 years. He hit .276/.346/.745, there isn't much power or base stealing ability which does limit his value especially coming off an injury. He is a hometown kid and would be ok, I would probably prefer a bigger upside guy but maybe that os the guy we just traded for from the Phillies. I would go after Vargas or Busch for sure and add a bit more if need be to get them. Also there are problems 6-10 pitchers I would go for before Lux as well.
  22. Would be a good fit, the Dodgers they have lots of middle IF options Busch, Lux, Rojas, Vargas, Vivas but no high end options. I doubt Adames get us Vargas, Busch, or Lux but maybe add in Houser, a reliever, or Burnes in a bigger deal.
  23. If you told me we would package Moore and Mendez I would have hoped for more than a guy who ranks 23rd on our prospect list. I do like the stats last year and in the AFL. I don't worry much about the age but I wonder if the 20+ HR power is for real. He was like a 3-7 HR guy through college and until last year. If he takes walks, has decent speed, plays a decent 2B, and has decent power this could be a nice find. If the power isn't real he isn't much better than Miller or Montesario. Moore and Mendez aren't huge loses but I probably ranked each from 25-35. For a guy I would put borderline top 20 that will be 26 next year and no AAA experience is meh.
  24. I think this is the most logical since we are keeping most of the staff. I like the idea of getting Rickie Weeks or Matt Erikson to be the bench coach and grooming them to be the manager in a couple years.
  25. I would hate taking Stanton, however if it got us a couple of their higher quality prospects and they ate say 10 million a year I could be sold.
