  1. The 2019 and 2021 version of Reynolds would make a huge difference, and we can reasonably expect some regression to that mean for the rest of the year. And he'd be around for a few years. The trick is not paying too much for him, and Frelick definitely isn't. Wiemer probably isn't.
  2. Yelich was a fine example of a professional baseball player in the 9th inning. He fought off 99mph heat and hit an opposite-field flare to get on base. Then he got the attention of the pitcher and drew a throw. Then he booked it toward 2nd on a ground ball, and the 2B committed an error because he knew he had to hurry it to get Yelich out. Then he drew a throw behind him on a fly ball to CF, and advanced to third. If our other players had been so professional, we might have scored a run or two. Yelich for next manager of the Brewers. Ideally while he's still under contract as a player so we won't have to pay him $30M to play.
  3. I know that's what the Pirates are putting out there, but I think they're just trying to maximize their haul.
  4. I hope they're at least kicking the tires on Brian Reynolds. He'd fit in well in the lineup and he'd fit in well with the window where we'll still have Burnes and Woodruff. Obviously you start with whomever the Pirates want among Frelick, Wiemer or Mitchell, and add to that.
  5. I know most players get signed near the deadline (and there is even a draft-and-follow opportunity again), but only 3 of 21 picks have been signed. It's a short deadline.
  6. Is there one place that lists all of the bonuses paid to recent (last 6 years) signees from Latin America?
  7. my thought there is no need for a realignment.
  8. How do the bean-counters on their team not be sure a guy has a passport?
  9. Small and a few spare parts should be sufficient to get someone decent. That should be the first choice.
  10. If they think Benintendi is a significant "all-in" move, they should be fired.
  11. Can we please acquire a relief pitcher immediately? Someone about Boxberger's quality (or better)? The need has been obvious for some time, and I haven't heard about the imminent return of any of our relievers who have basically been injured the whole year. And you can usually acquire one for a lottery ticket currently in A-ball.
  12. Never is a very long time. It will certainly increase over time.
  13. It's a good deal for the brewers, as long as he doesn't suffer a catastrophic injury or his command gets worse.
  14. My list is pretty short. Williams Boxberger Milner (at least if he'll be facing 1+ LHB or the bottom of the order) ---- Hader only needs a clean inning or two to regain my trust. ----- I think we really need another reliever to slot with the 7-9th inning guys. Shouldn't cost much in the way of prospects.
  15. I know Black is being shut down for the season, but have they specified the injury? He wouldn't be ready to replace Wong next season, but I was hoping he'd be able to be in the majors in 2024.
  16. Benintendi is hitting far better than he ever has (AVE .317, OBP .386). He'll likely regress. And since Taylor is back, Davis won't be playing that much. And Benintendi is pretty bad in CF; Taylor is significantly better.
  17. There is a Benintendi thread only partway down the Transaction Rumor page. He's a decent player, but unless you think he can play adequate CF (or McCutchen can), he's not a great fit.
  18. well, I'd rather have him on the roster than Chi-Chi. He's probably toast at this point, but who knows--he might put in a couple good months.
  19. Severino has such a small sample size, I think the only grade he deserves in Incomplete. But I'd trade him for anything at this point. If we need a 3rd catcher after rosters expand, we have options at Nashville.
  20. When Wiemer was raking at the beginning of the season, I thought he was the best bet to take Cain's roster spot. Some guys get promoted to the majors with little or no time at AAA all the time. IMO, Frelick is past due getting promoted, because they could use another OF in Nashville (and they have a surplus of good OF in Biloxi)..
  21. I wanted to see how many position players were earning a promotion, no later than the beginning of next season. Getting players to advance is key to having a productive organization. This is based only on hitting, and not fielding or the "hype" the player has. It's a very small sample for the rookie teams, and the numbers might look greatly different by the end of the season. Of course, there has to be a place to put them. It looks like we'll be able to clear out a bunch of older players off Nashville. The players I list for promotions from Nashville might have to wait for an injury to someone. Nashville Feliciano, C Turang, SS, CF Biloxi Monasterio, INF Devanney, SS-3B Diaz, C Frelick, CF-LF Lutz, RF-CF Wiemer, RF-CF Mitchell, CF-RF Campbell LF-1B Wisconsin Black, 2B-CF Peters, LF-RF Acosta, 2B Miller, C Carolina Chourio, CF Quero, C Garcia, SS ACL-Gold Areinamo, SS-2B Castillo, RF-LF Caballero, 2B ACL-Blue Avina, CF Guillarte, SS Perez, 2B DSL-1 Ordonez, C Lara, CF Rodriguez, 1B DSL-2 Perez, 1B-OF Oropeza, C Baez, SS I'll look at pitchers in a couple of days.
  22. they can trade Severino for a bucket of balls, as far as I'm concerned. And Benson and Cave won't help (Benson could next year, but he's not a true CF). Happ would help. I'm kind of fond of Feliciano though.
  23. His Junior (draft) year he had 33 BB and 39SO. And he raked.
  24. But with the possibility of draft and follow, there is no finality until next year for some players.
