  1. Why do I have this sinking feeling he's going to sign with the Cardinals or Cubs....
  2. Only able to make the league minimum in 2023....
  3. He'll probably sign with the Cardinals...(half joking)
  4. I would definitely take him. And I think a reunion is quite possible. The cost (in terms of prospects) would be virtually nothing.
  5. Hiura and Singleton are still unlikely to be on the roster. Yelich is a better fielder than Winker, though he'll certainly DH on some occasions. But we should expect Winker to see the majority of the time at DH, as McCutchen did this past season. To say Winker is going to be one of our primary OFs doesn't really jive with this team's roster construction and prospect pipeline... FWIW, I would also expect Contreras to DH frequently against LHP.
  6. Evidence? Who do you see playing at DH then?
  7. I actually appreciate that they don't want to spend money for the sake of spending money. Go after a guy if it's a clear upgrade, but otherwise it's better to go with your internal options. "Opportunistic" is the Brewers' strategy according to MA. See, the William Contreras/Jesse Winker trades..
  8. I don't think Winker's going to be playing much, if any, OF. All indications are that he's the main DH against RHP.
  9. Yeah. I don't think they'll trade Winker. The only scenario I can see is if we're way out of it and in a sell-off. But, otherwise, they'll ride his (potential) impact bat throughout the season.
  10. Mark Vientos is another young option who's been largely blocked by the Mets offseason spending spree. Would be cheaper than Baty. Right-handed hitter who can play 1st, 3rd and DH. Lots of power. Get him and you're pretty much all set against LHP.
  11. We better not be trading from a first place team again.
  12. Meh. This is a guy who's been mostly replacement level aside from his first half with Cincinnati this year. Urias is better than him and younger with more upside. Turang might be able to put up a similar WAR on the strength of his glove. Let's see if we can grab a Wil Myers or Adam Duvall. Or maybe bring back Taylor Rogers.
  13. I would gladly give up Garrett Mitchell for Edward Cabrera. Maybe we can add Hiura and get Tanner Scott while we're at it.
  14. Neither of those guys. Sanchez's value is at its lowest ebb rn due to the injuries. A guy like Luis Lara would probably be enough.
  15. We'll see. I do think some of the salary dumping we've seen this offseason is part of a strategy to gain more payroll flexibility to go after extensions for those players. Other than Yelich, we have very little in terms of significant long-term payroll commitments. Plus, I think that this FA period has demonstrated that $20 million AAV contracts aren't as onerous of a burden as they used to be given expanding revenues league-wide, even for a small market team such as the Brewers. That doesn't mean we should expect them to extend all three, but it's far from an unreasonable expectation that they'll find a way to sign at least one of them...
  16. One can hope given the $20 mil. plus in payroll savings right now and the fact that we have yet to sign a single major league FA... In the end, I do think one will be extended. I actually think it will be Woody due to his age and the increase in the market value of high-end SS this winter. Adames is really good, but I'm not ready to commit $170 mil. plus to him rn.
  17. Yeah. Usually when the Brewers make a signing or a trade it comes out of nowhere. And they don't tend to get involved in competitive markets.
  18. Greatest World Cup final of my lifetime. That's for sure. Unable to say anything about the pre-2000 iterations...Happy for Messi and Argentina. They are beyond a doubt the best national team in the world right now. Going forward for the USMNT, it looks like it will be the Gold Cup and Nations League final in 2023, followed by the Copa America in 2024 and then the World Cup on home soil in 2026. I'm personally really looking forward to the Copa America as I think this team could be good enough by then to make a Confederations Cup 2009-style run. The big question right now, obviously, is whether Gregg Berhalter returns as manager. I personally don't see how he can after the Gio Reyna debacle, but we shall see...
  19. I personally wouldn't be opposed to bringing Rogers back, if the price is right. He's been one of the more dominant relievers of the past 5 years and his peripherals remain strong, unlike Chapman's...
  20. I don't think we were as interested as we were last time. Again, wonder if Cain, McCutchen, and JBJ scared the Brewers off here...Or maybe the FO thinks we have more pressing needs in the bullpen?
  21. Old news. But no thread to discuss. I would have been fine with that price, but Turner is still 38, and he could fall off a cliff at anytime. Wonder if Cain, McCutchen, and JBJ might have scared the Brewers off here. Or if this was a case of Turner simply preferring to play in Boston over Milwaukee. Oh well, relief pitching and a right-handed OF/1B option are more pressing needs imo. Meanwhile, what in the world are the Red Sox doing???
  22. I've actually never made that statement. Rather, it's exclusively been uttered by the poster I responded to. Should probably have been in blue to denote the sarcasm.
