    I wonder if Ortiz is still not healthy enough to start. Hard to imagine Bae would be playing over him for strategy/platoon reasons especially because the defensive drop off from Ortiz-Turang middle infield to Turang-Bae is pretty steep.

    Yeah the first time it happens that makes plenty of sense. Doing this same act multiple days a week over an entire season over multiple years gets to a point of being obnoxious. People can't control what people post in the game thread. Trying to change that is a futile effort and then turns into this constant arguing and bickering that's been ongoing for years. I'd really like to one day come into a gamethread on this site and not see a bunch of comments about people arguing about how people are commenting. Also if poster D and F are trying to figure out how many options Player 1 has remaining they should probably learn how to use the internet better because that's a weird place to try and figure out option status of a player.

    I've seen people speculate that but I don't buy it because we've seen our hitters look just as unwilling to use challenges while trailing late in games (cough...Andrew Vaughn last night in the 9th inning...cough)

    A walk is only as good as a hit if there's nobody on base. If there's a runner on base a hit will always be better than a walk because it allows players not immediately in front of the guy being walked to advance bases and it allows players to advance multiple bases. That's why a single is more valuable than a walk in the wOBA calculation.

    Masterful roster manipulation but this does feel like something that shouldn't be allowed. Seems like a pretty clear loophole to the 15 day option/outright rule.

    Maybe I had too high of expectations but the Brewers being so bad at challenging on the hitter side has easily been the most disappointing part of the season for me. It's shocking how often our hitters are watching clear pitches out of the zone get called strikes and not challenging. I feel like at least 2-3 times every game there clear balls called strikes flipping a hitter/even count into an even/pitcher count. For a team that cares so much about swing decisions and count leverage seeing this be a weak point has been shocking.

    There's absolutely no chance a floor would be below where the Brewers are spending.

    Wash, rinse, repeat. It's yet another game thread where posters complain about how other posters act in the game threads. I think the game thread posters have seen you guys turn up your nose at them more than enough times at this point. I don't even post in game threads much on this site but my goodness does this discussion need to happen in literally every game thread?

    The Brewers have the lowest waiver wire priority because they have the best record in MLB. Any good player that gets put on waivers is not going to make it to the Brewers.

    Lance Brozdowski did a nice little write up of Josh Knoth on his substack today. He thinks Knoth if he keeps it up could surpass both Letson and Hardin as our best pitching prospect. It's an interesting profile because he's not like the pitchers we currently have in our rotation. His FB spin efficiency is really low giving it more of a cut/ride shape. Lance said it's similar to Kyle Bradish and Sonny Gray and pitchers like that typically can hold velo on their breaking pitches really well.

    I'd like to see Burke tone down the chase a bit but at this point getting a more aggressive hitter into the lineup would feel like a plus not a negative. I feel like the Brewers border far too close with passiveness than great swing decisions. This is a chart with pitches and swings on pitches in the heart of the zone. The Brewers dot is the furthest to the right. They have seen the most pitches in the heart of the zone this year. They are comfortably below the regression line though which means they are more passive than the average team when getting those pitches in the heart of the zone. The dot above them is the Cubs.

    Brewers Gold might get a fortunate win today. They were up 3-2 entering the 9th inning. They gave up 2 runs in the Top of the 9th to fall behind 3-4. The game is currently in a rain delay in the bottom of the 9th. If the game gets called they would win 3-2 in 8 innings.

    Lockridge just needs to be way smarter. 2 outs in the 9th inning and you got a horrible jump. Put on the brakes and go back to 1B. He was out by a mile at 2B

    Someone should have been up in that scenario. Hall, Senzatela, and Patrick all were available tonight. Henderson's stuff was clearly gone pushing him deeper than he's ever gone before. Obviously this is on the awful offense though. Run support is not allowed anymore.

    Hindsight is using the foresight that Richardson wasn't used to say it was a mistake and they could have just kept Wilson.

    Durbin is hitting at the same level as a year ago with worse underlying numbers. Collins is hitting comfortable worse than a year ago with worse underlying numbers. Seigler is hitting better but with only marginally better underlying numbers. Monasterio is hitting at the same level as a year ago with better underlying numbers. If it's a coaching issue, why is that collective group not clearly better than they were a year ago in Milwaukee?

    Why would you expect better from the non Yelich, Contreras, Frelick players on that list? Is this a gripe that the Brewers can't coach hitting? A gripe that our FO made bad moves?

    That was me but I also think context is required. We are essentially playing with 12 players and our depth IF is a sub replacement level player that we picked up off the street a day ago. This is basically an emergency situation. This isn't something that's going to be routine when Ortiz can start games again and when Pratt comes off the IL.

    So your concern is basically just about Yelich and Contreras? All the other guys are performing around expectation.

    I'd guess you are right but William has no business hitting in the cleanup spot at this point. I'm not even sure I want him in the lineup tonight. I'd like to see Sanchez get 2 games a series going forward until William looks competent in the box again
