    5 hits, 3 BB, 1 HBP and 16 SO for the Sounds today. Rough start to the season for the bats. Also get healthy soon Quero. Alfaro has a .000 OPS through 3 starts.

    Abysmal offensive performance from Nashville today. It's one thing to get lit up by a very good pitching prospect in Waldrep. Another thing to continue to get lit up by Moran and his 83mph FB.

    Though in Ernesto's defense he got rung up on a pitch clock violation when the ump started the pitch clock well before Waldrep got the ball back after Durbin's SB.

    This game is giving 2025 Brewers energy. Zimmerman getting smashed and Waldrep is dominating the bats.

    Not that it's an excuse for this game but this ump has been complete *******. Squeezing the Brewers all day. Anderson had 3 strikes called balls in his walk against Garcia.

    Was actually a good throw. Durbin intentionally played the long hop which is smart when you're making such long throws.

    AAA has statcast data. He threw 6 sliders and cutters in the 1st and 2 in the 2nd. Of the 8 thrown only one has been in the strike zone while his zone rate on the FB and CH are both over 50%.     I think Ernesto is going to be a heavy favorite for the Sounds fan favorite award this year.

    Henderson pretty much completely ditched the cutter and slider in the 2nd inning and dominated. Personally I don't care what his ERA numbers are, I'd much rather him get a bunch of reps with those pitches because he needs to expand his repertoire.

    Put this here as well but @Spencer Michaelis pointed out on Twitter that Tyler Black was sent to AA. Pretty surprising development.

    I have no issue with him swinging 3-1 but you have to pick a spot you're setting your eyes on and only swing if the pitch is there. A FB up and away is not that spot for Turang.

    Yes fault Turang for swinging at a 3-1 FB in a spot he was going to do no damage on. On FB in the up and away corner of the strike zone and up and outside of the strike zone, Turang had a .188 BA and .313 SLG in 2024...If you exclude the ones outside the zone and just look at the ones in the up and away part of the zone Turang had a .053 BA and .053 SLG.

    It wasn't a crazy chase but it's a 3-1 FB that was up and away. Turang is not going to do damage on a pitch like that. I'd have much rather seen a chase on a changeup dipping below the zone where you're hunting a FB middle or low in the zone than chasing a pitch you're not going to do damage on. Need to keep the bat on your shoulders. FB up and away has been a problem area for Turang with chases. Last year Turang had a 32.8% chase rate on pitches up and away. If you limit it to strictly FB he had a 42.4% chase rate on up and away pitches.

    Not blaming Turang, but man chasing on a 3-1 FB when Devin was struggling to throw strikes was brutal. Devin was locating much better against Chourio and Yelich. Feel like Turang giving Devin an out turned that inning around for Devin.

    14-17. Brewers SP injury woes bite them in the butt leading to a tough first month.

    That would give a competitive advantage to the runner on 1st base with a larger area to safely be, so you can't do that.

    It is consolation in case the Brewers do have a down year that we have so many potential trade assets. I would much rather continue to have good seasons and make the playoffs but the idea of a half season retool is kinda of tantalizing especially with the NL being so strong right now. Teams like the Dodgers and Phillies are at the height of their windows. A down year where the Brewers could kind of reset their window a bit wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. I'm no Pat Murphy so I find the path to the playoffs and WS through the NL to be a bit daunting at this point. I think you could argue that the NL has the top 5 teams in the MLB in the Dodgers, Dbacks, Phillies, Mets, Braves.

    The idea of Counsell winning Manager of the Year when the Cubs are pretty universally considered the favorites of the NL Central is pretty funny. Though it does make sense when you consider a lot of people consider all 5 of the Dodgers, Mets, Phillies, Braves, Dbacks as likely to make the playoffs. Seems like most believe that outside of the Cubs and those 5 previously mentioned teams that not many teams have a real shot at making the playoffs so if those 6 teams make the playoffs who gets Manager of the Year?

    Agreed just like his brother. I'd also gladly do the contract Contreras got. His bat is good enough to shift to 1B or DH over time. Not like he's a glove first catcher.
