  1. Manuel Rodriguez with a tidy 1st inning. Starts it out with a can of corn to LF and followed that up with 2 strikeouts. 6 up, 6 down in the 1st inning.
  2. Carolina go down 1-2-3 in the 1st inning. Di Turi and Yophery with groundouts and Pratt with a pop up to the 1B.
  3. Hopefully Carolina fares better against the Paul Skenes wannabe today than they did in June when he tossed 5 scoreless against us.
  4. Seems like a list that was put together 6-8 weeks ago and hasn't changed since.
  5. For those with instagram, here's a link to Jesus Made's 3-run HR from today. https://www.instagram.com/stories/jesusmadez/3407826311715163637/
  6. Our 40 man is already a mess. We really can't reasonably claim Kelly.
  7. Looks like the second DSL Brewers 1 game was rained out. They play DSL Pirates Black next on Tuesday, July 16th, so I imagine we see a doubleheader for DSL Brewers 1 that day.
  8. I'll be honest, I don't think Williams pitching in the 8th or 9th inning for the last 60+ games of the year will have any impact whatsoever on his trade value in the offseason. He's been the best RP in the MLB (Clase the only other guy with an argument) since he debuted. Him showing he's healthy and 100% is all that matters for his trade value.
  9. 3-4 was my expectation going into this road trip, but man how they went about going 3-4 was highly frustrating with the bullpen having 3 of the 4 losses. Big win today to avoid the sweep. Yelich looks like he's back. He's starting to do damage on a nightly basis again. Hopefully Contreras, Hoskins, Adames can follow suit. Shoutout Peguero who I think had his best pitch execution of the season today. When he's locating his stuff like that he's nearly unhittable. Also shoutout Haase who had a great game both at the plate and behind the plate. His receiving looked a lot better than what Contreras has been offering lately.
  10. I promise it’s okay to just be happy for a very young kid who just had his best game of the season without trying to rip on him or his prospect status.
  11. With tonight, Misiorowski has extended his streak to 6 starts with 2 BB or fewer and a BB% lower than 10%. That's quite the development for Misiorowski.
  12. 5-0 night for the farm system. You love to see that.
  13. Single in the book, but that was a rocket off the wall in RF that likely is a double or triple if it wasn't a walk off.
  14. Murphy earlier this week - Hudson's body takes longer than most to recover so we need to be cautious with how we use him Murphy these last two days - Uses Hudson on 2 days rest after throwing 36 high stress pitches and uses Hudson on 0 rest and 3 times in 5 days after he had looked bad in both previous outings. That's just bad managing.
  15. Freddie got the benefit of a beneficial ump call and Contreras calling 7 straight outside pitches. It wasn’t even a bad pitch, I’d argue a good pitch that Freddie hit, but when you give him 7 straight away then he’s eventually going to make you pay. I get why they might not have wanted to go FB up and in because Freddie crowds the plate and a HBP is a run, but man I just feel like you have to try it.
  16. Contreras went hero mode in that AB. Up 2-1 and he proceeded to chase two sliders below the zone on the outer third...just brutal. Making matters worse is that even if those were FB they were still in a location where Contreras does virtually no damage. Contreras hot zones are up and away and down and in. He's really bad low and away and up and in.
  17. Contreras crappy framing probably needs to be a bigger discussion these days. Dude went from 93rd percentile last year in statcast framing to presently 5th percentile this year in statcast framing. Among 16 catchers with 800 innings last year Contreras was 2nd in fangraphs framing. This year among 23 catchers with 400 innings he's 5th worst.
  18. What makes it especially annoying is that that edge was huge all game and then we get squeezed in the biggest moment of the game
  19. Spencer makes a good point how bad Contreras framed that should have been strike 3 to Freeman. Contreras has regressed significantly behind the plate. He's flatout been a bad defensive catcher this season.
  20. M-Braves open the game with swinging bunt, bunt, bunt that Smith throws into RF. It's 2-0 M-Braves and they haven't hit a ball beyond the infield grass.
  21. So many middle-middle 2 strike pitches from Knoth today. Think this will be his final inning with his pitch count pushing 70 through 2.2 innings.
  22. Just not Knoth's night here early. Command and control have not been great. Really grinding.
  23. Pratt flashed his big arm on the turn. Great defensive play from Di Turi and Pratt.
  24. This is why just looking at raw production in AAA isn't the end all be all. Hiura crushes AAA because he crushes bad pitches and you see way more bad pitches in AAA than in the MLB. When pitchers execute against Hiura he has big issues because his swing has holes in it.
  25. The 16-5 DSL Red Sox Red clearly didn't want a cycle hit against them so Anderson walked in his 4th PA. Cycle watch is officially over.
