Here's my Rule 5 draft hot take. Blake Holub has a sneaky chance of being taken. The stuff models absolutely love his splitter, but he has basically never thrown it this season. Maybe because the Brewers as an org just don't like splitters. I could see a team pick snag him and have him way up the splitter usage.
Is it confirmed that Ernesto signed a 1 year deal as an MiLB FA last year? Only asking because they way they have slow played him and not promoted him to AAA feels like it would make him far less likely to return in MiLB FA again this offseason. If he signed a 2 year deal letting him stay in AA all season and then starting in AAA with a big league camp invite for 2025 would make sense.
While we were just talking about the Arizona Fall League, who do we think is getting sent to Australia to play for Brisbane this offseason? Last year I think we only sent 2 or 3. Typically we only send players who have played in A and A+.
Murphy says a lot of stuff in his press conferences that’s utter nonsense so that’s nothing new. Obviously it’s not as taxing as pitching in the game but warming up still requires throwing pitches and Devin has now warmed up 3 separate times in a span of 2 days.
It’s funny because instead of just using him yesterday, he’s now just warmed up on back to back days and not thrown an in game pitch. That’s 5 of 7 days he’s at least warmed and 3 straight days he’s at least warmed. Will he even be available tomorrow?
I have to imagine the reason we have kept 3 catchers for half the season with Haase rarely playing is almost entirely because they want to bring him back as a backup catcher next season.
Agree pretty much across the board. Also don't think Wilken is remotely a lock. I could see them wanting him to put his disappointing season behind him and not extending it another few weeks in the AFL.
Only fresh guys on the 40 are Peguero and Tyler Jay unfortunately. I suppose they could call up Misiorowski, but I don't think Murphy is a fan of that based on his comments in Hogg's article about Hudson and Misiorowski
Tayden Hall with some shockingly poor baserunning. Was on 2nd base with 0 outs in the bottom of the 8th and tried to go to 3rd on a ball hit right at the SS. Easy out at 3rd.
I agree. I can think Murphy is a good overall manager and deserving of manager of the year while simultaneously being a poor in game manager which is exactly what I think and what my #PatMurphyLogic dig was about. His in game managing.
Edit: In game managing mostly doesn't make a big difference during the regular season. There are 162 games so the good/bad decisions even out, but in the playoffs these poor managing decisions could absolutely be the difference between a win and a loss which is scary with Murphy's bunt fascination.
60 pitchers in the MLB have hit 100.0 mph this year

Nah Pat Murphy has shown to be an extremely questionable in game manager with his inconsistent bullpen logic and his fascination with bunting. The Brewers have won 86 games because the roster is good
Yoho pitching now so it won't be him. That leaves the only fresh pitchers on the 40 man as Tyler Jay and Peguero if Payamps has to hit the IL, We all know who Murphy wants it to be
He warmed up multiple times today. If you use him tomorrow it'd be the equivalent of him throwing 5 times in 7 days which is why the whole "he's available but only for an out" crap was utter nonsense. Especially moreso when Devin claims he was going to get the 9th inning if the Brewers got the lead in the 9th.
So who is lying. Murphy saying Devin was only available for 1-2 outs or Devin saying he would have gotten the 9th if the Brewers got a lead in the top half?
They have to make a move. They can't go into a game with Civale, Milner, Paredes as the only available arms. Payamps will probably have to hit the IL. I'd guess that would mean Peguero would be back up.
