  1. Phillies 2-2 on their weakly hit choppers with the Brewers 0-3. That doesn't seem fair.
  2. Feel like Koenig's stuff keeps getting nastier and nastier the further into the year we are getting. Kind of makes me ponder if he could transition into a SP. He has a solid pitch mix.
  3. With Ashby set to start tomorrow, getting the win today feels pretty important if we want to avoid a sweep. Sanchez while really good isn't as good as Nola and with Hoskins back our lineup vs LHP looks really strong on paper.
  4. Yeah even if it's not now, you almost expect Gasser will need TJ in the next couple years. Feel like when elbow issues pop up like this, you're going to eventually need TJ.
  5. Brewers kind of reaping what we they sowed. Brewers built a rotation that really only had one sure and dependable SP in Peralta (2 if you want to consider Rea which I think is fair as a Rea guy) then a bunch of question marks. Miley has always been injury prone and hadn't put together 2 mostly healthy seasons in a row the late 2010's. Ross had basically not pitched the previous 2 seasons. Junis hasn't gone over 120 IP since 2019. Hall has had injury and reliever concerns. Ashby was a year removed from shoulder surgery. So much downside risk in the rotation the Brewers built. Hard to expect it to have gone this poorly, but at the same time it's not very surprising based on the rotation that was built.
  6. Do Brewers players not trust the Brewers training staff? Feels like there's been a lot of second opinions this year already. Even Hoskins was briefly looking to get a second opinion for a hamstring strain. DL Hall has had this bizarre drawn out 2nd opinion on his knee as well.
  7. Yeah he egregiously cherry picked, so I said a comment about how impressive it was to cherry pick a 2 start sample and play it off as Ashby is good again? I don't see how that's crazy. He literally admitted that he cherry picked it.
  8. And the start before the 4 IP, 6 ER, 4 BB was far more in line with the two starts after but wasn't included because it made his recent form look worse which defeated the whole point of the cherry picking to make it seem like Ashby has suddenly become good again.
  9. Sounds like the Padres are heavily interested in Crochet as well which is probably enough to consider the Brewers not a serious contender for him in addition to the reasons you mentioned. Padres are about as far away from prospect hugging as it gets for an MLB franchise in this day and age. I can't imagine the Brewers beating a Padres offer unless the White Sox are insanely high on a Brewers prospect a la Esteury Ruiz and the A's.
  10. I don't think you need it explained why what you did was pretty blatant cherry picking. You're a smart guy. It's just hardly a coincidence that the cutoff you chose was right after a 4 IP, 6 ER, 4 BB start.
  11. For starters that's pretty impressive cherry picking even for you so hat's off. Zone rate in his first 7 AAA starts - 39.1% Zone rate in his last 2 AAA starts - 46.6% Although his most recent start was a 42% zone rate compared to 52% two starts ago, so it's hard to say there's anything meaningful to read from those last two starts. He'll also be pitching on 4 days rest after throwing 7 innings which he hasn't done since July of 2022, so who knows how his body will handle going on 4 days rest after throwing deep into a game for his first time in basically 2 years.
  12. No he's Myers replacement for tomorrow. Gasser replacement would be for Friday
  13. The lack of control definitely takes him out of contention for an MLB callup as a SP. As a RP they could potentially think the stuff is good enough to overcome the control issues but there's a very real RP log jam which will make it difficult for any non-40 man guys to break into the pen this year.
  14. He definitely mashed in the second half of July when pitchers were adjusting to a new baseball. That I'll agree with. Outside of that it was basically the same story as the first half. Small flashes of great play but a lot of inconsistency.
  15. Honestly if I wanted to be arbitrary I would have used July tacky ball and July normal ball splits to further amplify how his biggest hot streak of the season coincided directly with the pitchers adjusting to a new baseball. July tack ball - 49 wRC+ July normal ball - 244 wRC+ Rest of AA normal ball - 98 wRC+
  16. Yes he absolutely could and likely would be worse than Ross/Junis as an MLB SP right now. Misiorowski can hardly get through 5 innings in AA because his pitch count spirals out of control due to the poor command/control. That issue would only get worse in the MLB where hitters are going to chase his misses even less frequently than in AA.
  17. AAA hitting environment was dramatically friendlier than the Southern League which is the entire reason I didn't use his AAA OPS numbers. He mashed in July. Outside of July his best month long wRC+ was 111 and every other month was under 100. April - 85 wRC+ May - 96 wRC+ June - 91 wRC+ July - 203 wRC+ August - 89 wRC+ September - 111 wRC+ (AA and AA) Chourio mashed in July and that's about it.
  18. This really isn't true. He had one amazing month when they switched back to normal baseballs from the tacky baseball. Outside of that month he had a sub .800 OPS in AA in every single month. April - .712 May - .739 June - .714 July - 1.164 August - .718 September - .792 OPS As Jack states in the article, Chourio crushes mistakes and struggles when pitchers execute their pitches. With AA changing from a tacky ball with extra grip to a normal baseball, I've always speculated that pitchers were struggling to execute in that first month leading to Chourio seeing far more mistake pitches.
  19. If you want a good laugh, MLB.com did a ROY poll and Joey Ortiz was only in the received votes sections while Paul Skenes and his 4 starts had 7 first place votes
  20. And we still don't have DSL baseball for the Brewers. Both games postponed due to rain today.
  21. If Black played 1B defense anywhere near as competently as Bauers Black would be up
  22. Brewers dealing with a bit of a power outage with their offense these last 2 weeks. Last 14 games they have 9 HR which is 28th in the MLB and a .121 ISO which is 25th.
  23. Brewers should move Ortiz to leadoff and put Turang towards the bottom half. No fault to Turang's hitting at leadoff, but he's been so much less aggressive on the basepaths since he moved to leadoff.
