    He's definitely getting pitches to hit. At least today he did. AB1 - hanging slider right down the middle on a 1-1 count AB2 - 2 middle-middle FB in the AB, hit a soft line drive single off the 2nd AB3 - get me over curveball pitch 1 that was a can of corn in LF AB4 - 2 straight sliders that caught a good chunk of the plate

    Also totally agree on Mitchell. Some of his best AB all season. Even that 1st AB strikeout was really nice where he was able to foul off 2 98mph pitches at the top of the zone and an 89mph changeup on the outer black.

    While I agree he needs more time, that time needs to be out of the 3 hole in the lineup. But I can't blame anyone for being discouraged. He's a 24 year old Top 100 prospect who is a bat first prospect that has just been totally overmatched in his first 51 PA.

    Think if that wasn't 3 times in 4 and 4 times in 6 for Mears that he would have come back out for the 9th. Plus they probably want to be careful with his usage with him already being at his career high in IP from 2019.

    Mears inning tonight was about as dominant you'll see. 8 pitches, 6 strikes. 4 swings, 4 whiffs. 2 called strikes. The Cleveland hitters couldn't touch him. He now has a 42.9% K-rate in his short time as a Brewer.

    The Brewers could set up a just disgustingly lights out bullpen in September. 9th - Williams 8th - Megill 7th - Payamps Middle inning monsters - Mears, Yoho, Misiorowski LHP - Hudson, Koenig Swingman - Hall Phantom IL/DFA - Ross, Wilson, Milner, Paredes AAA - Peguero

    In 401 career games, this was only the 10th where he didn't reach base safely with 5 or more PA. Pretty special to shut him down like that!

    Tyler Black flashing that big pop that got him placed in the 3 hole today. 82, 78, 82 EV on his 3 batted balls. Big power!

    I'm just glad Seymour isn't in AA terrorizing Biloxi anymore. He's the new Elko to the Brewers minor league affiliates.

    That unfortunately spiraled so quickly. Such a fluke double as well. Soft fly ball that barely stayed fair down the LF line.

    Should say it's more been control than command tonight with his pitches being pretty well located in the zone, but lots of very wild misses.

    His command/control unfortunately remain subpar especially with his FB (13% zone rate tonight on the FB), but that changeup is stifling the Durham lineup. Heavy changeup usage. 14 swings against it with 11 whiffs. Probably the best his changeup has looked this year.

    Speaking of the Biloxi bullpen, they are about to get stronger with Blake Holub being sent back to Biloxi again. He’s clearly shown that he’s too good for AA, so I’m a bit bummed for him.

    Don't know where Biloxi would be without him this month with Wilken slumping big time.

    Another cool Jackson Chourio stat. He has an xwOBA and wOBA above .300 against fastballs, breaking balls, and off speed pitches so he has shown an ability to hit everything. Chourio has seen 8 different pitches over 30 times this season. Of those 8 pitches he only has a negative run value against 2 pitches. Four seamers and splitters and both of those are at -1 run value. He does have a .345 wOBA and .344 xwOBA against four seamers, so he still hits that pitch really well.

    I mentioned over on BCB today that August has really seemed like the month where he's kind of figured out what he wants to be as an MLB hitter in terms of contact/power balance. By far his best month when it comes to power metrics. His launch angle is 10 in August compared to a previous month high of 7 in April. His barrel rate is at 13.6% compared to a previous high of 7.7% in April. His hard hit rate is at 56.8% compared to a previous high of 48.6% in July. His xSLG is at .597 compared to a previous high of .507 in July. His xISO is at .238 compared to a previous high of .178 in July.

    Craig Yoho was placed on the inactive list because he's officially a dad! Congrats to him and his wife. They posted a picture of their new baby girl on instagram.

    That's such a hilarious cycle. Flyball of the top of the wall with a crazy bounce for the triple, infield bloop single, and double that the RF dove for and bounced out of his glove. Good for him!

    It's a game thread. I feel like this is exactly where people can come and say a bunch of hot takes in the moment because they are talking about the game and not in general. Today during the game I said Sal Frelick sucks. Do I think that's true? Not really (sometimes I do though haha) but in the moment of the game where he hit an infield fly trying to do the butcher boy play and in combo with his other terrible AB in the series I said he sucks. That's just normal fan behavior. It's when the negativity and hot takes leave the game thread where things get annoying.

    Yeah I think that goes to show the Dodgers as a team have better approaches. The fact they chase basically the same amount we do while swinging at pitches in the zone comfortably more is seriously impressive. 1 is elite swing decisions the other is borderline passive over patient.
