  1. That PH decision was mind boggling. Why are you pinch hitting for Ortiz against the SP?
  2. My guy Middendorf has been lights out this year although he gave up a HR tonight seemed like a short porch HR though based on the EV and distance.
  3. Chourio made some good company last night. One list put him with a bunch of modern stars. Another list put him with a bunch of HoF level players. Feel like this season has started about what I expected for him. Peripherals aren't good and has looked overmatched at points, but he shows those flashes of being a potential superstar in a couple of years. Tough not to be excited about him.
  4. Here's a link to the xwOBA search I used. https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/statcast-search-minors?hfPT=&hfAB=&hfGT=R|&hfPR=&hfZ=&hfStadium=&hfBBL=&hfNewZones=&hfPull=&hfC=&hfSea=2024|&hfSit=&player_type=batter&hfOuts=&hfOpponent=&pitcher_throws=&batter_stands=&hfSA=&game_date_gt=&game_date_lt=&hfMo=&hfTeam=556|&home_road=&hfRO=&position=&hfInn=&hfBBT=&hfFlag=&hfLevel=&metric_1=&hfTeamAffiliate=&hfOpponentAffiliate=&group_by=name&min_pitches=0&min_results=0&min_pas=0&sort_col=xwoba&player_event_sort=api_p_release_speed&sort_order=desc&chk_tracked_pitch=on&chk_stats_abs=on&chk_stats_hits=on&chk_stats_xwoba=on#results
  5. Happy for him. He just looks so much healthier. Also I feel like it shows the Brewers FO weren't wrong acquiring him in hopes for a bounce back. We just were a year early.
  6. Here's a good illustration for how the approaches have improved for returning Brewers players. Baseball savant has a swing/take stat that judges hitters approaches based on if they swing/take for pitches in certain zones. Swing/take is also an accumulation stat. Here are 2023 numbers vs 2024 numbers vs 2024 numbers if prorated to 2023 pitch number for returning Brewers hitters Conteras - +19 vs +11 vs +112 Adames - -2 vs +5 vs +52 Frelick - -8 vs +3 vs +13 Turang - -22 vs +3 vs +28 Yelich - +27 vs +7 vs +95 Perkins - -2 vs +3 vs +18 FYI I am not prorating saying they will continue at their current rates. I just prorated because it's an accumulation stat so the proration will better show how significant of a gap their is between 2023 and the SSS 2024. Every returning hitter (didn't include Monasterio because he's hardly played) has showed dramatic approach improvement.
  7. For what it's worth, I am most certainly not advocating for Wiemer being the guy called up. I wasn't a fan of that decision. I would have rather seen Owen Miller if we were bringing a guy up from the 40-man. He has some experience in the OF as well.
  8. For you I will concede that you do watch. For the vast majority of people waffling over Hicklen not being selected to the 40-man, they are strictly basing it off his numbers, so providing context for those numbers is important. Also Perkins is one of if not the best defensive outfielder in baseball. Hicklen does not provide defensive value near that level, so for him to provide value in the MLB it would need to be with the bat so his quality of contact is important. When his quality of contact isn't amazing in AAA, it's very easy to question how it would translate to the MLB.
  9. Brewers are already running with a 39 man, 40-man roster for the entire season because Quero is out for the year in the minor leagues. Maybe they could have DFA’d Roller or Capra. They weren’t going to DFA any pitchers for a position player especially with all the pitcher injuries on the 40-man at the moment. Also Roller was bad before his injury. Like worse than Wiemer bad. Hicklen is way overperforming his peripherals. Hicklen had a .296 xwOBA with a .432 wOBA. Brewers will look beyond surface numbers when making these decisions and Hicklen’s surface numbers are the only thing that stand out about him currently.
  10. I feel like Boeve makes really consistent solid contact. He's just in the 10-15 LA a ton. From what I have watched so far, he's easily had the hardest contact on that Wisconsin roster.
  11. Wiemer was on the 40-man and Hicklen was not and the 40-man is full.
  12. Always nice to witness a 4-0 minor league day when the MLB team losses.
  13. I'd rather have Black up and playing in the OF over Wiemer.
  14. The fact his average FB velo in that short ST outing is 0.8 mph harder than any FB he's thrown through 3 starts is wild.
  15. I don't want to think about it. Please just need a few days Yeli
  16. Last year - 9-4 with a +25 run differential This year - 10-3 with a +33 run differntial Seems like both years involved a lot of wins.
  17. Have yourself a day Eduardo Garcia. 3-3 with a BB. The HR was a 426ft blast off Hurston Waldrep a Top 100 prospect
  18. Yes you did, but I bet you didn't think it was the close haha
  19. Well it was 104.7mph off the bat. 4th hardest hit ball of Frelick's career.
  20. I'll take a hit. Heck even contact.
  21. McCann's awful framing did not help, but yeah that umpire scorecard tomorrow is going to be at least +1.00 Brewers.
  22. Yes regression will come but Brewers hitters are currently 11th in xwOBA and 9 points above league average while Brewers pitchers are 16th in xwOBA and 4 points above league average. So while the numbers won’t stay this rosy, the expected stats still paint a positive picture. Brewers are also 2nd in OAA and a very good baserunning team. They currently are showing to be a very well balanced team with no true weakness.
