  1. Of course Uribe is one of them. I’d also add Megill to the list of stud bullpen arms, with his 100mph FB/knuckle CBcombo. Last 10.2 innings he’s K’d 21 batters. Both controlled for multiple years. That’s quite the nasty trio to look forward to dominating big-league hitters next season.
  2. Exactly, and the trend is for that to happen unless MKE can get to 88-89 wins BEFORE the showdown series to end the regular season. Someone has to beat Chicago and outside of Arizona maybe taking 2 of their 7 games and the Braves a game or maybe 2, I’m not seeing more than 2-3 losses of the 9 they play Colorado & Pittsburgh. 88-89 wins min before the 3 vs MKE.
  3. I don’t disagree with anything you said. I’ll only add the Yankees are hot, having won 7 of 8, and the Marlins, with Jazz Chizolm healthy again and swinging a hot bat are a better team than Arizona because of their pitching even without Alcantara.
  4. I think the world already knows the Brewers offense is devoid of power and thus pretty weak. The LAD are in serious trouble with their rotation, any baseball fan can see that and they are in danger of a quick exit from the postseason.
  5. Number 1 offseason priority should be to add power to the lineup. Trade Burnes and use the $16M saved to add a Rhys Hoskins. Then trade for a 3B. They have a strong enough farm now, bolstered with additions from a Burnes trade, to package an OF+ for a veteran, controlled 3B. If they can’t get that trade or sign a power DH bat Those 2 moves with improvement from the rookies along with more high-end talent coming from the farm should get the offense inside the top 15 offenses in baseball. Pitching-wise, Burnes spot replaced by Gasser, who is ready to face big-league hitters, to go with Woody-Peralta-Houser and a hopefully strong Ashby. They can bring back Miley or sign a FA starter. Bullpen with Williams-Payamps-Uribe-Milner-Megill-Peguero should be strong yet again. Adding 2 power bats to improving young positional talent makes this a more well-rounded team overall and the loss of Burnes can be overcome by that balance.
  6. To go from 92 in his first outing to 87 in his second is beyond concerning. They have to shut him down before he re-injures/injures his arm with his admittedly bad mechanics. This year doesn’t matter, next year does.
  7. I love Counsell and very rarely complain about any moves or non-moves he makes during or after Brewers games — but: Taking Megill out of the game after 17 pitches thrown in the 6th after he’s had 3 days of rest after throwing 31 pitches on Saturday was surprising to me, especially since he had been using him in fireman-type roles pitching 2 inning stints. Megill did give-up the game-tying hit, but K’d the other 2 batters faced and has just been outstanding lately, totally overwhelming hitters to the tune of 18K’s in the last 9 innings pitched, now up to 20K in 9.2IP. Megill for the 7th likely gets the team to the 8th all tied-up. Peguero has also been not good on back to backs and that was the situation when CC pitched him today. Just a head-scratcher for me.
  8. The DBacks beat Colorado today 12-5.
  9. He’s never throwing another pitch in MLB again.
  10. Not me. The Cubbies are a better team than the Reds so I want another loss for the Cubbies today. The Reds offense without McLain and with EDLC not able to hit breaking-balls is a shell of what it was. Abbott is on pace for 60+ innings over his max and has to get shutdown at some point doesn’t he????
  11. Anyone know Ashby’s velo last night?
  12. 60-day IL designation went away when the Yankees released him. He’s eligible to be brought-up at any time.
  13. If anyone should get a call-up from Nashville to replace Anderson it’s Cam Devanney, who unlike Black can defend 3B near as well as Anderson. .900 OPS in the last 90 days after getting his stroke back following his early season injury. 11% BB-rate & 17% K-rate on the year as well.
  14. Just more evidence the FO needs to DFA Chaffin to get rid of the bullpen’s only weak-link. Perfect game to be his last pitched game for this team.
  15. Velo back up to 94 for an inning or two before it drops, so for me he should be pitching 1 maybe 2 inning stints out of the bullpen. Gasser should be the spot starter if needed.
  16. Agree, pen needs LH help. But it also needs another arm besides Wilson to pitch multi-innings to take the load off the rest of the bullpen. Eventually getting rid of commandless Chafin would allow the team to add 2 more arms to get to 9 for Craigtember. 2 of Ashby/Lauer/Gasser. Best case from Ashby seems to be towards the end of the season before his velo could be back. Lauer is up to 94 for 1 maybe 2 innings before it drops, so 1-2 innings stints, and Gasser for 2-4 innings stints/tandem.
  17. I’m going with innings in Craigtember— Williams-Payamps-Uribe-Megill-Milner-Peguero-Lauer-Gasser-Wilson. Lauer can go 1-2 innings to hold his velo, Gasser can pitch 2-4 innings stints to stay relatively stretched in case of injury to a starter.
  18. Uribe & Megill’s command has actually been really good, bordering on exceptional. SSS granted, but both look like real weapons moving-forward. Misiorowski isn’t pitching for the big-club this year.
  19. Not just the strength of the farm, but the proven strength of this team’s drafting-skill. 4 great drafts in a row shows a pattern, a system that can be counted on to repeat. Trade Burnes if the prospect haul is sufficient, keep the other 2 for the picks, use the money savings (Burnes $16M) on a bat (Hoskins?), bring back Miley or a comparable FA starter, add Gasser and Ashby and offensively develop the young positional talent like the Reds andOrioles are doing and go contend for another central title.
  20. With 6 top 100’s 2. Chourio 25. Frelick 33. Quero 37. Misiorowski 90. Gasser 92. Black
  21. Trade Burnes, keep the rest. The team can contend without Burnes. They will still have a rotation with Woodruff-Peralta-Ashby-Houser-FA/Gasser/Rea/CRod. The Burnes Arby saved ($16M) can be used elsewhere to strengthen the team (Bat). A healthy Mitchell added to a more developed Frelick-Wiemer-Turang with Black-Chourio & Quero added throughout the year should improve the defense, speed, and offense. Adding a power bat to the lineup (3B/1B) thru FA or trade should be the priority. Maybe they can trade a couple of their top prospects for a controlled 3B, then get the prospects replaced with the Burnes trade. Trading Burnes, getting rid of Tellez-Caratini-Winker-Taylor-Urias pays for the Arby increases of Woodruff-Adames-Williams, salary increases of Peralta-Ashby and still leaves room to add a $15-20M FA and still enter next year with a payroll similar to the OD ‘23 payroll.
  22. Strange hill to die on with Uribe dominating big-league hitters out of the MKE bullpen. Chourio the second-ranked prospect in baseball and Quero one of the fastest-rising prospects in baseball. Not to mention Lara-YRod-Baez, 3 more potential future top 100’s. You’re 3 years too late with the narrative.
  23. You lost me with your IFA narrative when you failed to include Uribe and Quero with Chourio. Uribe is already dominating big-league hitters, albeit in a SSS. And Quero’s trajectory is to eventually be a top 10 prospect in the game, and the 2nd best C prospect behind Salas.
  24. Quero seems to have his power stroke back. Good to see.
