  1. The team has stated they have zero (0) desire to rebuild. And with the infrastructure, farm, young core and ridiculous bullpen this team has I can see why.
  2. While it’s true the Mets could spend $340M+ on payroll next year if they want to — I don’t think they will. I think they will reset their tax penalty threshold so they can spend again in ‘25. I don’t see Stearns wanting to deal with the penalties of blowing past the Cohen threshold for the 3rd straight year.
  3. $3.5M for a starter that in 22 starts last year went 5+ innings 17 times with 15 bulk outing’s giving up 3 or less runs is quite the bargain. 1.18 WHIP to boot.
  4. I agree. I think the team see’s another gear with Rea and his 6 pitches. Maybe not a #2, but a 3-4, is possible, imo.
  5. Williams & 1 of Mitchell/Frelick/Wiemer for: Mayo +. The Orioles need a closer and the Brewers can contend next year without Williams because of their 4-5 headed monster at the backend. Mayo should be ready by S2 or before and having his power and Wilken’s at corner infield until 2030 sounds good to me. Tyler Black can play one of the corner OF spots to get his bat into the lineup.
  6. If anything the owners will add 2 more teams to the postseason, maybe as early as the next CBA. It’s not just the extra money, it also gives more SM teams hope for a WS without having to address the revenue disparities in MLB.
  7. Nice job with your site. Like the detail on the SR’s. Also like how high you have Lara ranked. I think he’s being ignored by most sites, but not you, so kudos for recognizing an incredible teenage talent.
  8. No way Baltimore gives up Mayo PLUS Norby or the Dodgers 10-11 years of Pepiot-Vargas for 1 year of Burnes. Just too much. Severino is perpetually injured and likely carries far too much risk for a team like MKE. The problem with trading Burnes is the timing. Gasser will be a rookie, Ashby might have to pitch out of the bullpen next season, if at all, and CRod might need the year in AAA. So that leaves Peralta-Houser-Gasser. Maybe they can bring back Miley or a comparable FA, but that leaves 2-more veteran arms needed additionally. Peralta plus 4-5 backend starters doesn’t give me much comfort going into next year even with our likely monstrous bullpen.
  9. I’m not giving-up a contention season, which trading Burnes would likely do, not for prospects that this team doesn’t need. Porter is 2-3 years away, Lieter a couple, IF he can fix his command. We have enough starter arms now all throughout the system that the team’s elite PDS can develop to fill a rotation without a Porter. Gasser-CRod-Mis (ace/closer) Henderson-Internationals, then another wave with Knoth-Birchard & the HS’ers. We can trade Williams and still contend because of the 4 or 5 headed monster we have returning from our bullpen, plus a minors with intriguing relievers and a FO with a proven track-record of finding arms outside of the organization.
  10. Too much volatility in relievers will keep the trade returns down for arms like Payamps and Wilson. Now Williams should be a different story due to his consistent dominance, especially to a team like Baltimore, who need a replacement for the loss of Bautista and whose cheap owner would love Williams arby salary the next 2 years.
  11. Burnes performance for the Brewers next year plus the 33rd pick in the ‘25 draft plus the million plus in pool money vs the prospects received by trading him. Unless the team receives a big-league player back (extremely unlikely) in the trade, the team will be worse next year, and I don’t think that’s going to fly. Hader was a 9th inning only pitcher for this team vs a 200 inning starting pitcher in Burnes = no comparison. Burnes is more valuable. If the team trades a pitcher this offseason it should be Williams, because of the team’s incredible bullpen depth of impactful arms. They can get back to mixing and matching with their 5-headed monster of Uribe-Megill-Milner-Payamps-Peguero.
  12. With a hold of Burnes & Adames this team is poised to win the central again next year. This franchise has a loaded farm with waves of prospects at every level of the system. They don’t need prospects added thru a Burnes trade. Same with Adames. The picks & pool money added to the ‘25 draft will make that class even better than last years class which was extraordinarily great.
  13. I think it will be more about the people moving skills of Counsell than anything else. He has few peers in that realm, imo, and that’s far and away the most important attribute a manager can have.
  14. Or maybe Stearns thinks it was his FO the reason for the teams 1-run success with his building of superior bullpens year after year. Is Skip Schumacher really 20+ games over .500 great in 1-run games? Or does having Scott & co in that bullpen make it so?
  15. Agree they should not rebuild, not with the bullpen they have returning, that even without Williams, would be among the best in baseball. I’m advocating a trade of Williams because of the 5-headed monster they can mix & match to get away from a “9th inning only closer”, even if only for 1 season. My guess is Williams would return a stud IF prospect, near BL ready. This is the ultimate trading from an extreme depth position to help make the team stronger. Uribe-Megill-Milner-Payamps-Peguero-Ashby is as good of 6 man pen as there is anywhere, with the shuttle arm added from a deep minor-league system of pen arms available with options.
  16. This team’s farm has many strengths, but to have the teenage talent they have is incredibly exciting. Chourio-Lara-Knoth-Pratt-Bitonti-Adames-Yophrey-Baez — wow.
  17. Power bats & power arms. Power bat SS specifically needed.
  18. The farms pitching is about ready to breakout in a big way and when it does this system will be absolutely monstrous, and not just for a little bit, not with this team’s prospect procurement skill. Gasser-CRod-Misiorowski-Birchard-Henderson-Knoth, the young internationals and then the rest of the HS arms from last years draft have really turned around the farms pitching depth.
  19. It’s Tod Johnson & co. running the amateur draft since 2017. Montgomery’s last draft was in 2016.
  20. Capsular tears require surgery. 9-18 months recovery depending on if it’s an arthroscopic procedure or open surgery. He’s not pitching this postseason.
  21. Moreno’s skill at controlling the running-game has me nervous as heck. If we can’t run, we will likely have a harder time scoring, and conversely, I’m not confident in our ability to stop them from advancing once they reach base.
  22. Pretty simple. Brewers pitching vs DBacks offense. Brewers pitching needs to rise to the occasion. If that happens they will advance, if not, they won’t.
  23. Teheran was an easy call. Couldn’t pitch in the Cubs series due to the 4 innings he threw yesterday, wasn’t getting rostered for the postseason and is a FA after this season anyhow. Nice showcase outing vs the Cardinals for some team that will likely want to take a flyer on his services next year and I’m sure he learned a lot from our tremendous PDS that will help him moving-forward.
  24. Mitchell is a fast learner and very capable of making adjustments to his swing, which he has done in elevating and getting to some of his raw power. His swing is now short, but powerful. The K’s will come down with more PA’s like it did at AAA. Staying healthy is my concern. This guy is untradable until further notice.
