  1. You’re right with the SSS Devanney bat last year at Nashville, but still had a 114 wRC+ with Biloxi, so a better year last season than Jones. And I agree the team will probably upgrade the IF and possibly with multiple players, it’s just this team’s biggest weakness is the lack of power in the lineup and Devanney has pop in his bat and can more than hold his own in the field.
  2. Last year Devanney had a 136 wRC+ vs Jones’s 90. And this season Devanney was injured and now seems to be getting his stroke going. But yeah, the team agrees with you, at least up to last nights game, but after watching Jones’s last handful plus of AB’s not sure the team still has confidence in Mr Jones much longer.
  3. But done in the PCL vs IL. Im going with the glove and International league bat.
  4. The Brewers need power and Devanney has pop and a good glove. Why he’s still in AAA and Jones isn’t DFA’d is beyond me.
  5. And to nit-pick further — Charlie Greene, not Moore, leading the worlds best catching development system. Anyone following the Brewers system since Stearns took over should have been able to see the incredible job done by him and his first hire, Matt Arnold, in rebuilding this teams infrastructure. First the analytics department, then the PDS, then hiring Tod Johnson to fix the amateur draft. Mike Groopman to improve the international department, then Matt Klentak, who’s taken it to a new level. Scouring the independent leagues for bullpen arms. And finally, re-vamping the hitting development system in ‘19 & ‘20. They now have one of the best organizational infrastructure teams in baseball, and without the trillions spent like the Dodgers. Anyone concerned with the teams prospect procurement systems prior to this last draft-class, should have zero worries moving forward, even if the Stearns “brain drain” takes some of our best. It’s like Tampa & Cleveland now, systems deep with talent, knowledge and experience, able to get the next man-up to keep the train moving. This is the best time in franchise history to be a Brewers fan. These organizational departments assure success moving forward. Book it.
  6. No, because we shouldn’t be trading two (2) future mid-rotation arms for bullpen help — ever. This team needs help offensively, not in the bullpen.
  7. It’s already worked-out. They have 2 of the top international prospects in baseball. 10-13 (depending on the site) of their top 30 prospects are international signings. Your narrative is 4-5 years too late. My suggestion isn’t to wallow in the past Gilbert Lara era any longer, and join the fun.
  8. Wiemer is a great extension candidate with his smaller signing bonus. Keep him up and win baseball games.
  9. Bravo to Johnson & co. Imo, the farm system prior to this draft lacked power bats, and power arms — boom done. Wilken & Bitonti both have big power. Pratt at present is hit over power, but at 6’ 4” should add power eventually and the best part, be able to stay at SS. Boeve could follow the same path as Black and also add power. That’s 4 potential power bats from 1 class. Knoth is a power arm starter. Birchard the proverbial Brewers JC power arm. More pitching signed as well. I can’t remember being this excited over a Brewers draft — ever — and that’s going back 53 years with me.
  10. Boeve was mentioned and he hasn’t signed yet. I’m going to assume the team is signing their first 11 picks. I’ve read a number of evaluators that think Pratt can remain a SS because of his extraordinary body control. It’ll be interesting to see if he can stay at short.
  11. No idea why Bitonti isn’t talked about as the team’s 3B of the future? He profiles as a good fielding 3B with power and a cannon arm. I think realistically, it’s between Adams and him at 3B, long-term.
  12. Command left CRod in the 5th. 2 BB’s and hit batter loaded the bases, but he got out of it with a force-out at home and a K of Edgar Quero.
  13. So far so good with real baseball’s for CRod thru 4 innings. Just 2H, 1BB & 7K — 70% strike-throwing.
  14. I like MKE’s farm positionals, with the 4 recent draft-picks added. The farm likely loses Frelick over the next year or less, but that’s probably about it, and during that time they have enough high-end prospect depth for there to be numerous breakouts, with 3-4 joining the top 100. I’m sticking with Quero over Salas, but certainly understand you going with Salas. He’s off to a great start and certainly has the pedigree and the hype.
  15. Quero is trending to become the #1 catching prospect in baseball. Chourio is trending to become the best OF prospect in baseball. Misiorowski is trending to become the second-best pitching prospect in baseball (Skeens is on another planet). Imo, with the 4 recent positionals added from the ‘23 draft, this farm has the strongest crop of positional prospect talent in the game. It’s top heavy with elite talent (Quero-Chourio-Frelick-Black) but the real depth of positionals lies in Carolina-Arizona and the Dominican Republic.
  16. Or— Sign him to a 8+ year extension so we have an all-star type catcher for the next decade plus with Contreras as well.
  17. Absolutely waves of positionals. Just at low A & the complex— Carolina with Lara-Hall-Guilarte-Adames-Barrios Arizona with O’Rae-Baez-Norman-Severino Then add the 4-some of Wilken-Boeve-Bitonti & Pratt Not even including the DSL, that’s 13 absolutely must follow positionals just at 2 leagues. Wilken could start at Wisconsin and Boeve possibly as well, but I’ve never seen the lower minors this stacked with the volume of talented positionals that we have right now.
  18. If the team can eventually get power from Boeve, and get Bitonti to hit spin, they should get 4 positionals to the bigs with impact. Big ifs, but it’ll be fascinating to monitor moving-forward.
  19. Agree, closer to $3M, so near $1M saved. I think Pratt gets at least $2M.
  20. Gasser has been dominant in his last 6 starts. 38 innings (6+ innings average) With only 5BB & 44K He’s 24 as you say, and ready to help the big-club.
  21. Well I guess that takes care of selling Burnes to the highest bidder at the trade-deadline. The team will need to make room for Gasser at some point in the second-half, and I’m hoping it’s the rotation and not the bullpen, and will need to make room for Woodruff as well, so I’m hoping a trade of Houser is on the horizon.
  22. 6’ 4”, 6’ 5”, 6’ 4”, 6’ 2”, big-time size added to the corner IF. 5 of the top 80 amateur prospects in the country added. Power bats added, power arms added. If Johnson & co. pull this one off starting with the 18th pick, wow, just wow.
  23. Velo was down a tick the second inning. I think at 1 inning stints he’s going to be devastating with his 101/plus plus SL combo.
  24. Better not be Urias, he of the .562 OPS & 29% K-rate.
  25. This is nuts. Quero’s trajectory is the top catching prospect in baseball and eventual top 10 prospect in the game, which makes him untouchable just like Chourio. Adding Goldschmidt/Alonzo pretty much forces the team to go for it next year as well, which eliminates getting top prospect talent for the big 3 through trades.
