  1. Online chatter seems to agree with Killzone 2's multiplayer shortcomings, hopefully they can patch it up because it seems to have great potential. I'd like more reasons to have gone with PS3 on top of Blu-Ray, Ratchet and Clank, Resistance, and Uncharted.
  2. I have to wear a big goofy ID badge at work and I don't think this is any worse. Yeah, it's nit-picky, but I don't mind employers making reasonable uniform rules.
  3. I just bought (pre-order) Resident Evil 5 at Gamestop. The demo rocks something fierce and I'm starting to get giddy Gamestop has a nice deal going right now. If you trade in 6+ games, you get a 40% bonus, and if you apply the credit to RE5, you get another 20% on top of that. I traded Super Paper Mario (Wii, rest are PS3), GTA4, Assassin's Creed, The Simpsons Game, Turok, and Quake Wars for $97. Considering I paid $118 total for all of those games and had no intention of playing them again, I'm pretty happy. Now I just need to sit here and wait for the new controller I ordered to arrive before I can play again. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif
  4. If Koskie sees playing time for the Cubs, it's still a good thing for us. You'd have to imagine we and other teams with weak 3B situations all passed up on him before he went to Chicago.
  5. I completely agree, setup a separate forum for tickets, don't post or don't view it if you disagree, it also will increase the traffic to site. Everyone wins!!! You guys can set up ad-supported message boards easily. I do not speak for Brian, but I'm pretty sure he's not into setting up a ticket brokerage site and even less into paying for page views for it. The "if you disagree" part just won't work, as admins and mods will have to deal with whatever nonsense would take place there. I see no reason to risk such nonsense when our members have so many other places to buy and sell tickets.
  6. Are there any instances of a teams #1 going through arby? I'm not sure if you're asking about all 3 years or just 1, or if you mean year-to-year deals or 3 arbitration hearings, but after Santana became an ace he went through arbitration (and lost).
  7. I don't like the idea of putting powerpoints or podcasts online. Just go to your classes and stop looking for the easy way out. I also loathe how watered down education has become through technology. I mean, you don't even need to show up to get a degree anymore, and they can let everyone in because distance education is incredibly easy to administer and without physical limitations. you just record lectures and email everyone a syllabus and then have them submit multiple choice assignments for your TA's to grade. As a professor of mine once said in anger over online schools "fine, screw it, we'll just shut every school down and we'll have one university and everyone will get a degree from Harvard". I'm all for everyone getting educated, but admitting anyone and everyone to online programs that result in a degree many can't discriminate on paper from legit degrees is very troubling.
  8. I think it boils down to there being 2,000 places to safely buy tickets while there it's not as easy to find a place to trade Brewers memorabilia with fellow fans. This forum is obviously great for many members, but obviously could be a beacon to unscrupulous hucksters and people using this as a no-fee ebay.
  9. I think the right analog stick on my Sixaxis controller pooped the bed last night. In a neutral position, it will slowly move up, which makes playing games too frustrating. I tried resetting it to no avail, have any other PS3 owners had this happen? Can I take it apart and clean it, or did something likely break? Along those lines, does anybody know where I can find a deal on a new controller? Looks like the cheapest is $43 on amazon.
  10. The possibility of a trade with the Yankees was presumably in his head, but I doubt he picked up the option with that as his primary intention. No way do you roll the dice on an unneeded $10MM player when the payoff is a potential return of Melky Cabrera. Melvin's not that much of a tool, though he probably isn't as high on the decision to exercise the option now that market prices have fallen.
  11. I got my job 2 days after having my wisdom teeth removed. I already had the appointment when they wanted to schedule the interview, but there wasn't a time that'd work for them for another two weeks. I told them I'd be cool with it as long as they were and everything worked out.
  12. When I finally finish my education some day, rest assured that in at least one course there'll be no easy A, I'd love to fail a bunch of morons. Also, as much as people love to slam the tenure system, it's what allows professors to teach really hard classes. I know a few professors who haven't gotten tenure yet and will admit to watering down their courses because they need positive evals from the highest number of students they can to get their eventual tenure approved and not get fired. This stuff, sadly, isn't confined to undergrads, I know a few slackers who whined and bumbled their way to a master's. It's like everything has to be guaranteed to everyone willing to put in time. Yeah, you were physically present for 3 years of grad school, but you did nothing and can barely spell, you're not entitled to a master's degree. It's too bad our economy continues to evolve into one where you MUST have a college degree, because some people just aren't cut out for it, but could've had a great life working in a factory in the 60's. Some people just have a better history and genetic endowment and we have to accept that. As much as I'd like to be an NFL d-lineman, I just can't, because I have neither the right genes nor the right training, but instead of crying outside of Ted Thompson's office and calling him an unfair jerk, I had to go into a field I was able to succeed in.
  13. Sucks for Cruz. Wouldn't a simple amendment be to drop FA's from type A to type B if they sign after opening day? I can't really see teams cheating around it with legit type A's because someone else would sign them first. Making him wait until after the June draft is just not a fair punishment for being a good but not great player.
  14. I can't stand Gagne but can't criticize this move one bit. He's a great scrap heap pickup, which I would have been happy with him being last year.
  15. I like dill pickle chips and hate dill pickles, how does that work?
  16. No more clicking on nude women (I know you're in high school T BONE), that should keep the spyware away.
  17. A guy???? How can they hire a GUY after Trenni?!? They wanted either a woman or a bizarre name, and this was the first qualified applicant that fit the bill.
  18. If Cameron goes down for a month, what do you do? Make Nelson or Irribarren a full time OF? If you go acquire another OF, then you need to remove someone from the 40 man anyway. Laynce Nix could be brought back for next to nothing, like other AAAA OF's. If Cameron goes down for any time, they'd need to remove Gwynn to bring in someone less embarrassing anyway. I agree with others that it'd be smartest to keep a potentially useful RP and worry about a Cameron injury if it happens.
  19. Except with the most basic principles in the hardest of sciences, a decent prediction predicts a range of possibilities. You can't build a strawman of these predictions claiming laser guided precision and cheer when they fail, because that's not what's being offered.
  20. He could just say that any home runs hit by a player during a season that he was using steroids do not count towards his career totals. I hate Bonds as much as the next guy, and want to see his name erased from record books, but it's just too hard to sort out precisely who was and wasn't using before testing. Now that we have testing, yeah, that would actually be a good idea, to not count stats from seasons in which there was a positive test toward record setting numbers.
  21. I think Billy Beane tried putting him into the OF a while back. Not sure how that went though. Durham played 1 game in the outfield in his career, with the Giants in 2005.
  22. Maybe he can make a Josh Hamilton-type return as a pitcher in a few years. Bush is done. The difference is that Hamilton was a great talent with a drug problem, and had at least posted an .800+ OPS in the minors. Bush was a complete failure with a bad attitude. You can smooth away the rough edges on a great talent, but what's the point in trying to do it with someone who sucks, unless you're hoping that deep down there's a decent guy with a .500 OPS inside.

  24. The fiance and I are looking to buy a house this summer So what is the toilet house going for in the Twin Cities, 'bout $300K? The Twin Cities, like many areas, is full of keep-up-with-the-Joneses idiots who've spent 8X their annual income on a pre-WWII scrap heap. I'm guessing they're all bailing and selling at a loss now, though. Meanwhile, I just checked out a 3,400 sq ft. 4-bed 2.5-bath brick house built in 2004 for $156,500. The lady friend needs to hurry up, defend that thesis and get a job so we know what part of town we're moving to before the market begins recovering.
  25. Yep, you have to get an antenna unless you're right by the tower.
