  1. I hate singular nouns and adjectives as a name for some reason as well (Magic, Heat, Wild, Thunder), unless they still indicate a group, like maybe NC State Wolfpack.
  2. Considering his poor defense and lack of experience, my knee-jerk reaction is an instant "no". But then I look at how our current options are doing and, gosh, can Rivera play 3B?
  3. I'm personally much more concerned with physical conditioning, talent, and health.
  4. I am not sure why that matters. If you are a majore league baseball player you should be able to bunt. If you have an OPS in the mid-.8's and run like Prince, the times in your career when it will be beneficial to bunt are roughly equal to the number of size 32 pants Prince owns.
  5. I like the "most visited" tab, but otherwise it seems like nothing special. Firefox has that in the newest version as well.
  6. The hairdryer is likely using 4,5, maybe 9 times the power of the TV. Plasma TV's at that size seem to use 200-500 watts while hairdryers can use way more. I just checked my girlfriends - 1875 watts. Like slobberknocker said, it may be a wiring oddity, as the bathroom is generally gonna be on a different circuit than the living room.
  7. If we win the world series and he gets the Cy Young, absolutely no doubt about it - that needs to be celebrated and commemorated. After sucking for so long, they can retire the guy's number if he leads us to the promised land for all I care.
  8. Diet will do more for you than exercise. If you watch what you eat, you typically won't be fat while you can eat crap and work out but still be fat. The biggest thing for most people is to not drink your calories. Never breaking from diet soda, water, Crystal Light, and light beer are a big step in the right direction for most people. Also, use a lot of filler in your meals like cabbage or something else that will make you full but not contain a lot of calories. It seems like less of a sacrifice that way.
  9. It's time for these kids to be shut out and lose millions so hopefully we can put an end to the nonsense of 18 year-olds being paid 15 times what a pre-arbitration MLB player makes in a year. MLB needs to level the playing field by making a hard slot value. If you don't wanna take it, you can sit home just like the system works for pre-free-agency players (though arbitration offers a little more flexibility).
  10. Gallardo had a sub-2 ERA in '06 and a sub-3 ERA in AAA last year when he was called up. Jeffress has a bit of improving to do before he's in the territory Yo was. Jeffress is living off raw talent more than results at this time, when those things match up he'll be in the rotation equation.
  11. In their defense, the stadium looks like the Metrodome's ugly cousin. I've only seen Tropicana from the outside and on TV, but that seems like a fair assessment (except maybe not the horrible seat position?). I lived in MSP for over a year and only lived 10-15 minutes from the dome. I've never lived that close to a major league team and you'd think that as a huge baseball fan I'd be there all the time, but I went ONCE in a year+ and that was because my friend came to town for the Brewers series. That place sucks and I'd rather watch a game on my 42" plasma from my couch with a $7 six-pack and 75-cent bag of popcorn.
  12. If Harden stays healthy it makes the Cubs so much more dangerous since he is a legit #1 when healthy Harden could make all the difference for them in the playoffs, as he's got the potential to give you a lead off the bat in a short series and two dominant performances in each 7 game series.
  13. I'm sure you've been told this, but while on chemo you should try to just eat foods you kinda like, but not your favorites because having the flavor of preferred foods paired with miserable illness will often cause a conditioned aversion to that flavor.
  14. Apparently there is speculation that SF is CC's first choice since he's from there. I just hope wherever he lands he won't go to someone who competes with us, and that should be SF. However, I'd really like him to sign with a team with the 16th pick.
  15. We always parked a block down the street from what used to be Mr. Doughnut.
  16. I'm pretty sure there have been little leaguers who can top 70. I'm sure plenty of kids I played with threw over 40, this kid must just have really good control.
  17. I think there's just something about Pence where you look at him and instantly feel animosity. He just looks like a bratty little kid.
  18. After today's game, Cameron has an .873 OPS (.257/.345/.528) - best OPS by a centerfielder in the national league. For comparison... Fielder: .369OBP .501SLG .870OPS Cameron: .345OBP .528 SLG .873OPS
  19. Sheffield Hunter Pence Carlos Lee Giambi Youkilis and his stupid stance Julian Tavarez Josh Hamilton for being more inspiring and wonderful for being an ex-addict than other players who never used in the first place. Eric Gagne Eckstein/Counsell Joba Chamberlain
  20. Dontrelle Willis, Tom Gorzelanny? But Willis hasn't been average since 2006 and Gorzelanny has been horrific this year after finishing last year on a free fall and having a back problem earlier this year.
  21. The advice of going only to recognized specialists is very good. While I'm not really in the medical field, I provide similarly-specialized behavioral services for a health care facility. There are behavioral issues which, in my humble opinion, my colleagues and I are better at dealing with than 99% of clinicians in our field. There are other issues that we really don't have a lot of expertise in. I've treated clients who were thought to be in need of extremely invasive interventions to improve and did it without those techniques and within a month, and I've had potential clients who I've turned away in the past because I'm simply not the person to treat them. With such complex issues, nobody is going to understand it all flawlessly, so you'll need a collection of people who each understand part of it flawlessly.
  22. Did you ever wind up purchasing from this site? I applied for the card, but something went awry and instant approval wasn't possible at the time. They'll approve or deny within a couple days and if it's approved that's definitely where I'll but it.
  23. Refurbished Xbox 360 premium for $179.99. LINK
  24. This was being spewed just earlier in this season, too. I'll still spew it. Bush is like a cheating spouse who'll be wonderful to make it up to you, but just ends up going back to break your heart every time. Not this time Dave, I'm taking the kids and going to stay with my mother.
  25. Suing in these situations isn't necessarily about making money for pain and suffering, but about getting the hospital to pony up for money you've spent in copays and deductibles as well as gigantic bills you could incur in the future if you ever found yourself without insurance.
