  1. Common ground can ALWAYS be found!
  2. Yeah, but YOU stated definitively they'd held out players who were already injured and hadn't played(aside from Jaire) because they thought so little of the Saints. I think that's silly when there's...literally no reason at all to believe that.
  3. I mean...for all intents and purposes I am! A wall isn't NEARLY as entertaining though...unless it's one of those walls where they paint a design into it and then you have a person who jumps out and startles you. I suppose that'd be more entertaining. PLEASE just promise me you'll stick around and be here the next year or two? I need you telling us signing LA players is a waste or resources when Chourio is a ROY candidate, Quero gets called up as a catching prospect and Uribe....well, we already know what Uribe is!
  4. I don't ever assume anyone likes Joe Barry. He is awful. I mean, leave the man's dog alone, but...get him out of town. Now...what the hell is going on with Carrington Valentine? I thought he was gonna have a big game. This is a defense with really good players all over it...at every level and they do not play as a unit, they don't do anything creative, they rely exclusively on players making big plays.
  5. It's wasn't all new money is what I'm saying. He when he signed his deal he had...~64M fully GTD. We also need to remember the Packers were trying to clear cap space to move Rodgers near record 40M and change in dead cap space(I think it was a couple hundred K below what ATL ate when they cut Ryan). In any event...this year is making it abundantly obvious the Packers should be looking at LTs early in next years draft(or I suppose if there's a RT, take him and play Tom at LT). Walker is a nice player. I'd like to aim higher than nice. I'd also like to see them draft a Center early. Alt, Mims, I don't care who. Love needs to start hitting some of these Deep shots. A couple of them may be the WRer not finishing the route or flattening out...that ain't the problem on every one. Or if it is, it's on Love to get it figured out.
  6. No...no bad. But you have really gone all in on the defensive side of the ball, so you're kinda hoping they're better than not bad. That was an incredible catch by Olave and good coverage by Valentine. I guess if you're going to be without your #1 RB, #1 WRer, #1 CB and #1/2 OL...it's good to see what the young guys can do. And what we're seeing is that...Joe Barry still can't come up with a scheme that'd confused a JV QB.
  7. His base salary this year was 6.7M. It wasn't 17M. I don't know if you're looking at just the cash paid out by year or what, but they didn't take a 17M base salary and convert all but 1.2M into a signing bonus. They took the roster bonus and the Base and that doesn't add up to 17M.
  8. ??? Why do you believe they're holding players who could play out for the Lions game? I'd just about guarantee they're not holding out players for Detroit. Everyone knew the Saints were a very good defense.
  9. I'd guess they just blew it dead. If they said he was down...well...he just obviously wasn't. But sure, the last thing I'm upset about is if they called that 3rd and long a sack of INC pass.
  10. This was the first year they could have cut Bakh and you'd have had to believe he had VERY little value to cut him with a 40M dead cap. The way he came back last year, there wasn't much reason to expect him to be worth...such a massive dead cap. Most of the new money was still GTD money, just paid out differently and I doubt they thought he was going to be less healthy. Even after a weird season in which he came back, played a couple games, missed a game, appendectomy and then finished the season playing every snap the last...what, 5 games? He's missed 6 games out of 20. That feels a bit premature. Jones missed 4 games each of his first two years.
  11. Sveum...once you realize even somewhere in time doesn't believe what he's saying, he just can't admit he was wrong now/has been trolling, it all makes SOO much more sense! Earlier this year Uribe was an injury prone pitcher who couldn't throw strikes and we should trade Chourio while he still has some value. And we could do that. And get a helluva lot more than 10M a year for him. Hey, I'm sure we could trade Chourio for Khris Bryant and the Rox would absolutely pay every penny on his contract they were allowed to(we'd still have to pay the minimum). That's...kinda like a 4th OF/extra reliever, right?
  12. Can you help me out here. If the Sounds are the 2nd half winner, why are they eliminated from the playoffs? Shouldn't they play Durham for a chance to play the PCL Champs? What am I missing here? I'm also trusting the Brewers on the Ashby thing, but I don't feel good about it. Seems like he rushed so he had a chance to be back for the playoffs. Once that was off the table, feels like he should have gone back to working on strengthening the shoulder and rehabbing. Just surgery in the same year he's back pitching is cause for concern for a guy I really thought could become if not an ace, a Freddy Peralta caliber pitcher who was a VERY good #3 and had stretches of throwing like a #1.
  13. No need for a long breakdown. Saints Defense=Very good. The game likely comes down to how Bakhtiari, Jones, Watson and Jaire are able to play...or more importantly IF they'll be able to play. This will be Jordan Love's toughest match and biggest game so far. The KC Game he was unprepared and didn't get much prep time. The Philly game was nice, but down 2 scores vs a better team. Week 1-The Bears are terrible, Bakh and Jenkins played. Week 2-MLF again really protected him in both play calling and ATL's limited pass rush. Vs the Saints, Love is going to be under pressure by Cam Jordan(Again, especially without Bakh, but if he does play, Jordan still kicks inside and IF Royce Newman starts...I'm hopeful Sean Rhyan has beaten Newman out, either way, that's a big disadvantage). They've also got a very good secondary with Lattimore and Mathieu as well as an elite LBer in Davis. The Packers should be able to pressure the Saints as their OL has struggled this year. Olave has been targeted a lot, but a healthy Jaire should make up for that. Prediction a 23-16 type game as long as 2 of Bakhtiari and Jones/Watson play. Without all 3, it'll be Love's first chance to make a statement vs a good defense as the starting QB.
  14. LOL...you prefer him to what? Jackson Chourio? Quero, Uribe? I'm not even going around round here because I know you don't believe what you're saying. I'm just gonna laugh at it! I prefer Andrew Monastario over Jackson Chourio, Jefferson Quero and Abner Uribe! I mean, the idea that ONE precludes the other is dumb enough, so the "preference," is totally irrelevant and you have to know that. No successful team has had success without a DSL team, without Baseball Acadamies in LA and the idea that you'd "rather" they spend 8-10M on a reliever or a 4th OFer kinda gets shot to hell when we've got a reliever throwing 102MPH sinkers and the #2 prospect in ALL of baseball. For the record, I prefer all forms of acquiring talent...I just realize the absolute worst value is spending ~10M a year on an aging FA rather than signing 30+ young LA prospects for half that price!
  15. On a side note, both Alt and Black Fischer, the ND OTs look like NFL players. OSU moved Tuimoloau, a projected 1st round pick(probably in the way Kayshon Boutte was mocked in the top 15 a year ago at this time, but an NFL prospect nonetheless) from the right side lining up over Alt to the left side lining him up over Fischer. Two 5 star recruits...just saying, they'd both look very good in a different Green and Gold color scheme. Henderson, the back from OSU has incredible balance and is an outstanding receiver. Worth a 3rd...IMO.
  16. In watching Prime, it's not hard to see how the two mesh together. I remember people hated Deion because of the high-stepping and that...competitive confidence, that's not mutually exclusive with being a nice person, with being down to Earth or willing to give people some time. I don't think one has to be a "phony," for those to co-exist.
  17. Hey, not all of his signings were bad! Somon Torres is the reason they re-opened an academy in the DR and eventually ended up with Abner Uribe(who...I haven't gotten an answer on if he's worth the 85K they spent to sign him yet). I really just...don't believe he believes what he says at this point. No way he's looking at Uribe, Chourio, Quero, Lara and saying, "give me a Hunter Renfroe for one year instead!" I've yet to find a wall that's more entertaining. Also, Walls aren't as good at parody.
  18. I was surprised he was just 21 years old. I wonder if there's any chance he'll be back next year. This is his 5 years, extra year due to covid, but unless the rules are different for graduate students, he could still RS this year and come back next year. Feels like his NFL aspirations would be much stronger coming off a full year being the #1 back in a system in which he is asked to catch the ball quite a bit. Otherwise he's going into the off-season coming off an injury and maybe trying to make a team as an UDFA? Whatever he does, I hope he gets to play Football again. That's an awful way to go out.
  19. LOL...I think I get it now! The whole schtick. None of it can possibly be serious. The "Latin American signings aren't worth it, I'd take 8M on a veteran reliever, utility OFer instead, trading Chourio before he loses his value...SOOOO many comically ridiculous posts! Now feigning outrage at a position player pitching when every other team in the league would do the same thing! Well done! You've played the long game!
  20. The Brewers were still among the league leaders and led the league a couple times in the late 70sand 80s. I think 1991 there was a big jump, then again with the Jays the next couple years where it went from like ~18-20M to ~40M to ~52M in a couple year period. Sal Bando and the jump in payroll really kinda coincided and...that was the last time the Brewers were a million or 3 from having the highest payroll...as I can remember it. I remember looking it up years ago, but don't remember exact specifics.
  21. I get he didn't do anything "wrong," but I don't like the way some of the kids who bought in to Col when they were down were treated. 51 transfers is...excessive. But I get it's part of the rules. The overall recruiting is still a big question mark. If his son ends up being a 1st round pick and Hunter makes a real run at a Heisman, that will certainly help. Shedeur is looking like a real prospect at this point, he's the 44th overall prospect for this upcoming draft class(though Deion says neither nor Shilo are leaving this year). Shilo is a day 3 pick it sounds like. This next year though...Colorado might do even better in the transfer portal. They won't get 50 transfers, but I think they'll get a LOT of the better players. But he has gotten the #1 CB and 5 star recruits the last couple years in Hunter and McClain. Though for some reason, the later hasn't gotten on the field. There's still a huge gap between grabbing a couple 5 stars here and there because you're Deion and building a recruiting machine like UGA, Clemson, USC, 'Bama, FSU. I do kinda respect how Deion emphasizes the off field behavior. That'll likely be tested, but we've already seen examples of him not playing the best player because of off field situations.
  22. That's what happens when you have guys like Joe Burrows 4th on the depth chart! I hate to sound like a broken record, bust just ONE more year the Bears need to convince themselves Fields is the answer. Such a big part of this is the teams drafting them. I think CJ Stroud has a chance to be a good QB, but he is in an absolute dumpster fire right now in Houston.
  23. Look at next years bullpen at it sits now with nobody making a big leap and no signings and no additions from the Minor Leagues. Tell me where he slots in as a late inning reliever? He's behind Williams obviously. Payamps and Peguero seem obvious. Uribe and Megill? Absolutely. Unless one of them loses it. You still have Bryse Wilson who seems like a better value if you're going to use him exclusively in the pen. Now factor in the Brewers preternatural ability to find relievers from the scrap pile and somehow develop them into good to elite BP arms and...I'm not paying 6-7M to Houser to be a late inning reliever. A starter or swing man, that's his role. I want the 100MPH or Bugs Bunny type stuff in the late, high leverage situations. Uribe's 101 MPH sinker he threw a week or so ago is the nastiest pitch I've ever seen in my life. And he's behind Williams.
  24. Yes. They've got a group trying to bring a team to Nashville and have been at this for years. There is a lot of money in Nashville. This was the proposed rendering of a 1.2B retractable roof stadium that was part of a much larger investment for the Nashville Stars. They were hoping to attract the Rays or the As. So I think the Brewers, had they not been able to come to an agreement, would have been a very real possibility.
  25. Well...that and the 2023 version of Deion Sanders himself in Travis Hunter. But yeah, he intentionally ran off most of the kids telling them they weren't wanted at the program. Not something I find particularly impressive. His logic was 'if words run them off, they're not for us.' I don't know, still not sure what to make of him, but Hunter seems like a special talent.
