  1. I'm REALLY hoping the Brewers go with high upside arms. It's not what they normally do(at least early) but this is more of a straightforward draft(you'd think) with fewer picks and bonus pool. -Borthwick... a 6'6 255LB HS kid with an upper 90s FB, the big spin rates that the Brewers love. What isnt' there to love about this kid other than a full 3.8M to sign him in Rd1 most likely. -Bumila the 6'9 255 Lefty who can also throw in the upper 90s and maybe an easier sign with the TJ already, but it's like reading a Misiorowski scouting report, but better spin rates and that same BIG extension. Doubt you'd be below slot on either, but I'm swinging for the fences in this class on arms with ALL the position players they've got locked up(and their LA class). I love the idea of Grindlinger if you were to go below slot. I'm skeptical you'd save much, but... give me a HS kid with a big fastball. Or... a kid who can catch and will take 75% of slot. I'm really not to picky.
  2. We're REALLY taking for granted how easy it is to find top of the rotation arms. On the other thread about extending players, someone talked about how we could just trade Mis and then "find the next star pitcher. Why WOULDN'T you want to sign a guy like Harrison? He's a bulldog with REALLY good stuff. You're more likely to get a DL Hall or a Drohan(who is a very nice pitcher).
  3. I'd be willing to do the following; Harrison 7 years 55M 2 TOs 22M Sproat 8 years 45M TO at 14 Uribe 7 years 34M 1 TO at 12M Misiorowksi 8 years 140M 1 TO at 40M All distant 2nd to Made at 8 years 130M 2TO at 30M each year maybe 5M buyout?
  4. You're starting with Pena... probably a couple guys like Braylon Payne, Dinges, Adamczewski and then a guy like Letson or Knoth. I know you're just throwing it out there, but... man, you'd REALLY need to be loaded and think you were one dominant pitcher away. And...to be fair, if things line up, if Skubal's injury really is mild, him, Misiorowski, I'd think Sproat would pitch more as an opener, 2-3 innings and then give way to Harrison, and then whoever else is healthy, that WOULD give you one helluva chance. It'd be one of those moves where I wouldn't do it, but I'd sure as hell enjoy it if it happened! I do think that we're going to be taxed because our #11 or #12 prospects are a lot of teams #5. The way Braylon Payne is hitting, he'd be top 3 in most of the last 20 years. Same with the other two I mentioned at this point to be honest. Give is 2-3 years when we've got virtually a whole lineup of guys who are ~2-4 years into their career, maybe Turang is near the end, THEN I'd be more inclined to make one of those big trades if we haven't broken through.
  5. As was my pick Jose Bautista. Exactly 0.0 WAR, OPS in the 720 range, then 29-rest of his career, 285 HRs, .879 OPS.
  6. Bautista comes to mind. Not saying Bauers is Joey Bats, but he's a really nice player for this team.
  7. Yup! Just... love that trade. He already looks absolutely filthy at times as he did that last AB. Nobody in the league is hitting him when he's throwing those three pitches.
  8. That... was one of the nastiest curveballs I've seen to Bucsh on that 0-1 count by Sproat... Even the one that hit Busch had nasty movement. Mis, Harrison and Sproat=Burnes, Woodruff and Peralta when it's all said and done?
  9. Yeah, I saw that. I just...assumed there was another challenge when I saw there was only 1. Anyway, I'm sure Murphy and the Brewers knew they've got both. On another topic, how is Pratt's throwing arm? On par with Ortiz or not quite as strong?
  10. They said the Brewers retain their challenge, so I think it's a graphic error or...something. Anyway... love watching Sproat throw.
  11. I walked away for a second, I thought they challenged another pitch. THAT is from the Sproat challenge on the 2-0 count where they couldn't review it? That's... insane. Of course they should have both.
  12. I don't get the comment by McCalvy with regard to Pratt though. There's nothing in his contract that I've seen(not that I've looked too deep) about when he starts his career. 8 year/50M, this is year 1, right? So no need to wait on him. As for Williams, the way he's swinging the bat, you can wait a few weeks I suppose, but... might as well bring up Pratt now. He looks like he's figured it out and I'm not sure you're losing a whole lot. I'm looking forward to adding Williams, Pratt, Lara at some point this year and then can't really think of anyone who should play too big of a role the next few years in the minor leagues. Tyler Black?
  13. That's just such a pretty swing. Hands are so fast, looks like there's almost no effort at all. Love to see him start playing some 3B right now... at least once in a while.
  14. I think they keep him in AA all year... save for maybe the playoffs and season once AA ends. I also think he'd be an upgrade, but you have to sign him before you can promote him. He's just too valuable. 10 years 140+2 TOs... even at 35M or so would be great. 10 years is more likely and he'll still be a FA by 30, so he can get another massive payday. There's always risks, but... sometimes I think the reward is too great(plus, if the Pirates can make such a commitment, surely we can as well). Anyway, he seems like a special prospect. I thought Chourio was the best prospect we'd see for a while, but now we've got a guy who looks to be just as good of a hitter, maybe more patient... and he also plays SS...and is a switch hitter.
  15. Ok. And that's... absolutely nowhere near what the Thunder got for PG13... which was what I said, and I don't think it's nearly as good of a package as the Jaylen Brown trade. The Lakers can offer the 25th pick this year(not particularly valuable), and then 2 picks in '31 and '33 and Reaves... who is not a young blue chip player. That's not near the OKC trade... which is what I was going off of and I don't think it's as valuable as the Jaylen Brown trade that I don't think the Celtics are biting on. And maybe every other team that was in the playoffs will have interest. And if Giannis says "I want to go to NYK?" Then ALL those teams are hoping he'll change his mind in a year and sign an extension. So I think those teams will lose interest after that point.
  16. I'd still take Jaylen Brown. I think you could turn around and get a lot for him... but I don't see Boston making that trade. I'm also fine with veterans as long as you're getting back picks+ young players. Most deals will include bad contracts just due to his deal... but Giannis is going to be 32, he played 36 games and he's got 1 year left on his deal. I don't think trading Giannis is going to bring back a particularly big return. I'm seeing the Thunder trade for PG13 on Reddit or other places. These elaborate trades where we get back a guy like SGA and a boatload of future picks from OKC and SA. I don't like the way things have ended... based on what Portis and others have said, it's mostly an issue with Doc and Giannis(and Doc and the rest of the team) but I just wish this would have ended on better terms. Still, he got us a Championship and I'm good with this era. Obviously... I wish we'd have won more, but still, getting to see a title was pretty damn cool.
  17. I don't really know what you're talking about right now, but I'll reiterate, NOBODY is calling him the next Nolan Ryan. In fact, you're actually the only one making that argument at this point. I've said I'd like to sign him.. as I said last year and I said THIS about him; How you're telling me that ACTUALLY means he'll be the most reliable power pitcher since the Great Depression, I'm kinda at a loss to be honest. BREWERS History does not equal all of MLB History... and in ALL of MLB History, there are FOUR pitchers who've thrown more innings than Nolan Ryan. One of those 4, Pud Galvin, who threw nearly 700 innings in back to back years and about 75% of his teams total innings those years. The next two pitched before the Great Depression and then you have a Knuckle Ball Pitcher Phil Niekro. So... I don't know what the point of this is or how it furthers any discussion about extending Misirorowski, but... I have said THREE times now, I am not and HAVE not compared him to Nolan Ryan. You're doing that and then asking why... throwing hard helps a pitcher be dominant(which I again, don't even know how to respond to).
  18. ... I'm not even sure how to respond to this. No, I don't think it goes Nolan Ryan, Corbin Burnes, Brandon Woodruff when looking at power pitchers. I'm trying to tell if you're being serious here. You're seriously trying to draw a connection from this statement; To arguing that I'm calling him Nolan Ryan? That's a reasonable conclusion to you? And I'm arguing the additional team control we have adds value to him. In a trade, to the Brewers... either way. I still don't think it's particularly relevant as Misiorowski is already exponentially more valuable than Ashby has ever been and the only thing they really have in common is both signed extensions for the Brewers. Ashby signing a 5 year 20.5M extension... if you feel good or bad about it, it doesn't inform anything with regard to how we should approach Misiorowski. But for arguments sake, what do we think Ashby would get on the FA market? A power lefty with a FB in the upper 90s, elite K rate, elite GB rate. I'm thinking it'd be more than 1 year, 7M with two team options at 9 and 13M.
  19. Well... yeah, but it's not like they knew going into the draft with limited picks they would get their guy... so when they did, it's a sunk cost. I'd rather they eat the 1M... which really isn't much to them, than be stubborn and go with McManus because they're already invested.
  20. I didn't. I referred to his talent relative to Brewers history. And I believe he's got a lot of value right now and that the contract we gave him... while not particularly relevant to Misiorowski... has been worthwhile. 5.5M is... not really expensive for a high leverage reliever either. I'd also argue the 3 more years of team control make him MORE valuable rather than less. Be it in a trade or with the team. I guess just an odd argument to make because it kinda infers it's a binary choice. Either WE pay him hundreds of millions or someone else does, but.. sure, we can let someone else pay him hundreds of millions...and then I think you added to have surgery at 30. We COULD do that while also extending him ourselves. Both are options. I'd like to see us sign him and keep him for an extra couple years or at least try to given that's the discussion.
  21. You sure I have permission to continue to talk about this... thread dedicated to this exact subject? That's... mighty kind of you!
  22. Were you not calling for him to be replaced?
  23. Ok... I guess if you just proclaim it's the "end of the discussion," it's the end of the discussion😃
  24. ... Made for Miller? I'm actually curious if SD would do that... and would also not even consider it, but good god he is nasty.
  25. I think it's working out wonderfully with Ashby, I think he has surplus value, but... there's also a rather wide chasm between what Misiorowski IS right now and what Ashby has EVER been. And we're doing pretty good developing position players. I don't think that supports an argument of 'we do it so well, why sign him.' I don't believe we can find another Misiorwoski for a penny on the dollar. He's not just some guy, he's probably the most dominant or overpowering talent the Brewers have ever had. So if we're going to argue the risk is big, ok, fine. But lets not just ask like he's another guy and we'll just replace him. I also don't get the last part. "Let another team pay hundredS of millionS for him to have elbow surgery at 30. Nobody has suggest we pay "hundredS of millionS," and most pitchers eventually have surgery. But obviously... not everyone has to agree. I feel like there'd be a lot of celebration IF we signed him, but since we know it's a long shot, we're arguing against it.
