  1. That trailer is awesome enough that I may have to buy that Show '10, even though the '09 version tended to frustrate me.
  2. Exactly. The odds seem to be greater than not that Branyan will not play a full season for the Indians.
  3. It's nothing to get that excited about. He'll probably pitch, what? An inning or two at that point? I'll be curious to hear how he does, but I don't think it's anything to go out of your way to catch.
  4. What's a "Joey Votto action figure?" Is that like one of the old Starting Lineup figures or something?
  5. The way I see it, if Prince is traded, we basically need a top flight young pitcher (like everyone has been saying) and one upper level 1B type who can take over for Prince if one of the internal options we have now isn't feasible or doesn't work out (Gamel, McGehee, etc). I assume we'd probably get another pitcher (either a starter or reliever) as a sort of throw in. I think hoping for much more than that is probably somewhat unreasonable.
  6. Just think if Meltdown was still on their team.
  7. Good question. I'm not sure if the season TV schedule has even been announced yet.
  8. I don't necessarily want to see Suppan cut at this point. I think the ideal situation would be for him to be the long reliever/6th starter type out of the bullpen. At least he might be serviceable in that role, and then the $12 million they're spending on him this season isn't a complete and total waste.
  9. Ditto. Spring can't come soon enough as far as I'm concerned. I've gotten sick of these storms lately where they start early morning and go through mid-afternoon, so that when I get home I can't even pull into the driveway. This was a nice change of pace.
  10. Info is up on MLB Trade Rumors. He can earn up to $300,000 addiontally in incentives. At his press conference in Korea, Park said he was leaning toward the Cubs until recently, as they were willing to let him battle for a rotation spot. The Yankees' "history and championship contention" won out. Kind of a surprise signing. Just more depth for the Yankees, I suppose.
  11. I don't know. It's not like the hitting coach comes out before the game to get introduced or something.
  12. There seems to be this mentality regarding Braun (partly perpetuated by comments on WSSP), that this is like the NFL and Braun will sit out the season unless he gets a much bigger deal in a year or two.
  13. Hmmm...I e-mailed Tom Haudricourt about this topic and he responded with: "I believe the Brewers' current TV deal expires after the 2011 season but I am not 100% certain." I wonder if he forgot about the extension announced last season.
  14. That's why if he's traded, it has to be for a top flight pitching prospect, and hopefully a couple other very good prospects. I think even the average fans will understand the reasoning for such a trade. If it's a return similar to the one for Carlos Lee is the best anyone is offering up (which I still think was a solid trade), they may be better off keeping him and taking comp picks once he hits FA.
  15. Well, I know last season it was announced a new TV deal was signed...but was it said to end after 2012? I'm not sure if that is a fact.
  16. Popped in "Show '09" again yesterday. I still am pretty bad at it. Was playing an exhibition against the Nats (as the Brewers with Gallardo starting). I quit when it was an 0-0 game into the 8th inning. I kept hitting lasers that were speared for outs. I guess I should go back and tweak the sliders again ad nauseum. Really good game, just frustrating for me.
  17. Yeah, that's how I tend to think. Fun to think about, though.
  18. Trading Lee at that point would have created a colossal hole in the offense. Remember that Prince really wasn't ready at that point, and we still had Overbay playing 1B anyway.
  19. Pretty good read. Encouraged by fans, Attanasio pushes payroll "We kind of pushed the payroll," said Attanasio, entering his sixth season as the team's owner. "The numbers are never quite what (some) people think. When we look at what we'll probably end up spending, including calling guys up (from the minors) and paying incentives, it's starting to push $90 million. "The official number is mid- to high 80s. We really owed it to the fans to do everything we could to put as good a team on the field as we could. We reallocated our dollars away from position players to pitching."
  20. Overpay, but it's only one year. I don't quite get what Detroit is trying to accomplish with this.
  21. Checking in...aw hell, "If this place didn't close, I'd never leave."
  22. Oh, for sure. Meddlesome ownership can be hugely problematic for any sports franchise.
  23. You know, the more I think about this, I get a bit angrier. Looking at teams like the Cubs, Astros, and Mets, it makes me wonder what Doug Melvin could do with a similar budget. I have no doubt we would have made the playoffs at least once more in the past five years. Maybe even a World Series.
  24. OK, I won't sweat it then regardless http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  25. Good point. I mean, when you still have guys like Johnny Damon and Jermaine Dye without a job, you knew it wasn't going to be a blockbuster contract for Branyan.
