  1. I think we may stick with what we have for now, at least until AT&T brings their TV service to our area. I've comparison shopped a bit and I don't think we can save too much money right now by switching to another provider, and keeping the channels and services we like. Just wanted to note also that I noticed Charter seems to be carrying FSN's HD feed full time now, which is kind of nice (formerly they only carried the HD games, mainly). They're currently showing a Brewers/Indians game from earlier this season.
  2. Reports say they Rays are getting Jesse Chavez in return. Doesn't seem like a very exciting reason to trade Iwamura. Probably a salary dump so they can extend Crawford or spend money elsewhere?
  3. I think most could more than "live" with a Lackey signing. Probablem is the Brewers have no realistic shot at obtaining him. They will upgrade through trades, and should be able to get at least one pitcher better than a Washburn type of guy.
  4. This is a good point that doesn't get touched on enough. While I am still hesitant to declare McGehee "the real deal" after one very nice season, I think he is the type of player who shouldn't regress that much in the next couple years. I think a lot of it is people feel burned after the Bill Hall situation, so they are going to be gun shy about committing to a guy who seemingly came out of nowhere and was not a highly touted propsect.
  5. Like I said earlier, if Melvin signs him to a reasonable "not long term" (like no more than two yeasr) contract, then fine...but it had better be to replace Looper or Suppan.
  6. I always liked when they would play news clips from WTMJ-4 (or whatever station) and you could absolutely not tell what the heck was going on. At least the audio was usually pretty audible throughout the stadium (something Miller Park has only rectified rather recently).
  7. Wasn't the County Stadium board "the best in baseball" for like a year or so?
  8. Like I said earlier, if Washburn replaces Looper, I don't think it's a big deal. But if Melvin is planning to go with a staff comprised of some combination of Gallardo, Parra, Bush, Suppan, Looper, and Washburn, forget about making the playoffs.
  9. That auction ended about two weeks ago.
  10. If the Yankees win tonight, I hope at least one announcer or major sports commentator will say something like, "Well, the Yankees spent over $400 million in the past off-season, so congrats on buying another championship."
  11. Yeah, there's even very few tickets on Stubhub and the like right now. Still looking...I'm hoping maybe a few more become available closer to the concert date.
  12. What terrible sports day yesterday. Packers lose and Yankees win. Evil won yesterday.
  13. It's good to see Attanasio still talking about this issue. Hopefully he can be front and center with some of the other small market owners, and effect some real change when the CBA is up in 2011. It sounds like he has probably abandoned hope of a salary cap, but will argue in favor of some other changes. That may be for the best at this point. I'm sure if Attanasio could be spending more money, he probably would be...but by all accounts the Brewers' payroll is maxed out. They don't seem to have too many avenues for increasing revenues at this point.
  14. If significant changes don't happen, or the Brewers can't get into that $110-120 million payroll range in the next couple years, we may as well all except that the Brewers will probably never win the World Series.
  15. Another guy I wouldn't mind taking a chance on at all. You just can't bank on him being a significant contributor in 2010, though.
  16. Boy, with as well as Lucroy has been playing, it sure would be nice to see him as a possible option to catch for the Brewers next year (maybe not as a starter, but splitting time with Rivera or someone if needed). I know he'll likely spend another year in the minors, though.
  17. MLB Trade Rumors has an interesting story up about a possible Milton Bradley/Vernon Wells swap with the Blue Jays. "It's early on, but we think this one has some legs," said one Cubs official. "But they aren't the only team we are talking with."
  18. I know odds on this one are slim since this is a high demand show, but I'd thought I'd throw this out there. Maybe some Milwaukee area poster has a couple tickets they would be willing to unload. I'd like two tickets that aren't way up in the nose bleed sections. I'm willing to pay, but not the scalper level prices that are on ebay and craigslist. Thanks.
  19. The guy who wrote the Fielder story appears to actually be in high school in New York, judging by his profile. What's annoying is they put the Greinke article that Boris guy wrote back up. His justification for it is a big load, too.
  20. I could tolerate that, and would not shed a tear to see Loop go at this point.
  21. I would take a chance on him. He's only 29, and I think still has more upside than down.
  22. I forgot to mention this, but a few weeks back our company had a meeting at the Pfister Hotel in Milwaukee. This was during that final series of the year between the Cubs and Brewers. Anyway, I'd swear I saw Carlos Zambrano sitting in the lobby, talking with with some guy. I didn't bother to go say hello or investigate any further, though.
  23. We'll just have to agree to disagree on that then. I think "horrible" is a gross overstatement. I would say he's mediocre to average for an NL left fielder.
  24. Scott Bartell hosts that public access Brewers discussion show that used to be around. At least I think that's who that is.
