  1. I think the offers are great...but like sbrylski alluded to, the fact that I don't live in the Milwaukee area pretty much prevents me from taking advantage of any of these ticket deals. Hopefully once summer is in full swing and the wife is done with work (public high school), I might be able to take advantage. Some weekend games would be nice, and I would probably buy those. I know that is probably not a realistic possibility right now, though. I did buy the discounted Dew Deck tickets on Memorial Day, and those were a great value. Had a great time too.
  2. Right. I also think there is enough circumstantial evidence out there to draw a conclusion that Melvin and Towers were probably talking about Peavy, but the injury derailed that possiblity. I'm not 100% sure that was what was being hinted at in this thread, but it seems likely to me.
  3. I agree the "Tal's Hill" with the flagpole is rather dumb...I'm surprised a player hasn't broken an ankle or something trying to field a ball on that thing. As far as the shadow being dangerous for hitters...I'm sure there are other parks where sun or shadow can make it harder for a player to see a ball coming in. I just think it's part of the game.
  4. I'd leave it exactly how it is...Rivera catching Bush and that's about it. I do think Rivera should get some pinch hit appearances late in games when Kendall is struggling at the plate. At least Macha has been willing to do that...I swear I think Rivera must have hit on Yost's wife or something, since it seemed like he was permanently collecting cobwebs on the Brewers bench last season.
  5. That's the thing though...unfortunately we have no way of knowing if Rickie would have kept hitting like that, or if he would have regressed more toward his career norms. If it's the latter, he's definitely not a 5-hole hitter. It's just a shame he got injured so we couldn't find out one way or the other.
  6. They should absolutely be doing everything to "go for it" this year, and next year. The next "rebuilding" period will have to come soon enough. No need to rush to get to that point. No one is saying they should sell the farm, but if they could get a great young pitcher like Buchholz who they can control for several years, that would be stellar. Imagine having Yo and Clay anchoring the rotation for several years. That would be ideal, I think. It would also hopefully mean that the next down period will be much shorter than what we've been accustomed to historically as Brewers fans.
  7. Oh, don't get me wrong. I'm actually not that irritated with Haudricourt. I understand the difficult position he is often in as a beat writer. I just think his need to rub it in when the people here were apparently wrong is kind of unnecessary. I would guess that posters on this forum are some of his most frequent readers.
  8. Well, Brian prefaced this whole thing very early in this thread by saying "rumor has about 50% believability, so believer beware", or whatever. It's not like he said "This is a sure thing that's going to happen!!!"
  9. Yeah, it was definitely a show off type move. That doesn't really bother me that much, because if he keeps trying to make catches like that, he'll inevitably let one fall. Hopefully when the Brewers are in town.
  10. Actually, I think it's kind of a neat quirk the more that I think about it. Lots of stadiums have something unique opponents have to deal with...Wrigley have the ivy, Fenway has the Green Monster, Houston (whatever they're calling it these days) has that mound and flagpole. Miller Park has "the Shadow." I can live with that, hopefully our players can too.
  11. Yeah, like I said earlier, hopefully this officially signals the bats coming alive. It's crazy that Braun and Fielder were responsible for 11 of the RBIs in this game. Those two are carrying this offense right now, but hopefully Hart's recent surge is not a fluke. The team could really use him, and I'd like nothing better than to see him in the five spot if Cameron continues to struggle.
  12. I wonder with a guy like Pedro if it's a situation like Sheets where the teams know something about him health-wise that we don't. You'd have to think someone would have signed him otherwise by this point, if for nothing more than depth insurance. Maybe his high price demands just really turned teams off otherwise, though.
  13. I guess all this discussion continually raises the question "When is MLB just going to have hard slots for each draft position?"
  14. Yeah, I agree that the idea of a "stadium forecast" would be really nice. Kind of surprised they don't already have one, actually. As far as the A/C...I think that is maybe stretching the expectation of what is reasonable for the Brewers to do to accommodate the fans. I can probably count on one hand all the games I've been to over the years where it's been so hot I wasn't comfortable sitting there for a couple hours. If I'm in the sun and it's really hot, I can always walk inside the stadium where it's much cooler and get a drink or something. I get that others may feel differently though.
  15. Wow, I know Coffey is having a good season and probably relatively popular right now, but $25 for a guy who's basically been a career borderline MLBer is kind of silly.
  16. Daughter of a family friend is looking to go to this game with some work friends, which is looking to be almost sold out already. She's looking for cheap tickets. If anyone has some extras they are looking to unload, PM me. I think she's only looking to spend around 10 bucks a ticket or so (yes, I know that isn't much), but if you have something, let me know. Thanks.
  17. I kind of agree with Briggs. Even if Casey has an average-ish season for a 2B, he could have a lot of value. If we flip him for the next Carlos Lee or something, I wouldn't be too sad about that.
  18. Nothing has officially happened yet, far as I can tell.
  19. FWIW, Lackey had a much better outing yesterday against the Giants.7 IP, 10 H, 10 K, 3 ER, 0 BB. Not sure if we could get him, but it seems like he's coming around from his DL stint.
  20. Great win tonight. This is a special team capable of great things, and I'm hoping this win will sort of be a corner turning victory after these rough past couple weeks.
  21. Sorry to hear that man. Myself and I'm sure everyone on the forum here wishes you well in what must be a tough time.
  22. All I'm saying is that when the rest of the team is hitting it's not really a problem...but when Hall, Hart, and Hardy are all slumping, it certainly is.
  23. The Cubs just fired their hitting coach, Gerald Perry, so that shows what kind of problems they're having at the plate.
  24. Yes, he's had some better games at the plate lately, which has been a positive. I think part of the problem with Kendall is that when other key guys in the lineup are not hitting, his weak bat is magnified.
  25. I would think if Boston wants a shortstop at this point, they would be much more interested in Hardy than Escobar. They would have him for a year and a half, and would probably have an excellent chance at getting him re-signed if they wanted to. While Hardy has struggled this season at the plate, he is still very good defensively and just seems like he would fit in well with the BoSox. With Escobar, they'd be getting more of an unknown quantity, and the trade would look pretty terrible for them if he does indeed struggle at the big league level. They're a first place team right now, but with the Yankees nipping at their heels, they probably really can't afford to try a rookie at a key position.
