  1. Well, at first that was the case, and the name stuck. I don't think it was ever really statistically proven that was the fact, though.
  2. Anderson is terrible? Based on what? I think he's fine. Anyway, nice to get a series win against the defending World Champions.
  3. I think it would be a cool feature...not sure if I would be interested in participating myself, but it might be cool to see what others are thinking on an ongoing "official" basis.
  4. Would love to have him, but I doubt the Indians will look to move him, like endaround said.
  5. Yeah, I'm expecting Gamel will be a nice player when he comes up (and has appropriate time to adjust), but is it realistic to even expect him to be an All-Star caliber player. I'm honestly asking because I can't be sure. I figured he'd be sort of a Braun-lite.
  6. I think I saw enough of "the vampire" during his one stint with the Brewers, thanks. I'm sure he'll find a job somewhere, I just don't think Milwaukee needs him back.
  7. At least he had a solid base hit yesterday.
  8. I guess Sabathia got booed at Yankees Stadium yesterday. Think he regrets going there yet? Probably not, with all that money, but it doesn't exactly make me tear up to know he's been scuffling a bit so far in the pinstripes. 1-1 with a 4.81 ERA after 4 games started (yeah, I know he's been a slow starter before).
  9. Sounds like he's done for the year at any rate. Boy, that was quite a bunch of salary down the toilet. Too bad.
  10. I had a Dreamcast and it was great (other than the controllers being a bit clunky). That system seemed like it really got the shaft for no good reason.
  11. Yeah, he responded to a question that was asked of him. I would much rather hear an honest answer like the one he gave then some sugar coated thing like someone else pointed out. I really don't think anything he said could be construed as "throwing his teammates under the bus." He is plainly saying what is publicly evident...that the team is playing bad as a whole right now, and needs to improve.
  12. I really have no doubt Macha has chewed the team out a bit, especially after a game like last night. Just because he hasn't done it in front of the cameras doesn't mean there hasn't been some yelling or chair throwing, or whatever.
  13. He didn't say anything no one already knew. He said the team is playing all around bad. I'm glad to hear someone on the team speaking up. "The Franchise" Ryan Braun is basically the leader of this team at this point, so it's not surprising to hear him make comments like this.
  14. Can we please do something about the pitching situation ASAP?
  15. He doesn't look injured to me. (Had to bump this in light of his performance tonight).
  16. Boy, it just breaks my heart to hear that the Yankees are having trouble selling these exorbitantly priced tickets. Would be a real shame if they had to face some of the same issues other "regular" teams have to deal with.
  17. I bet the vast majority of those premium seats are unsold right now. There's no way that many would have been unoccupied for the first series at New Yankees Stadium if they had been bought and paid for. Even large national corporations are just not buying as many perk things like baseball tickets right now, in lieu of the economy.
  18. New post on the Brewers blog on JSOnline says they're now at 2 million tickets. Second fastest date to reach that mark, second only to 2001 (when Miller Park first opened). What a huge accomlishment for the Brewers and their fans. It seems like the Brewers continue to post positive financial news, despite the economy. http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/43338732.html (Mods, I figured it made sense to include this in an existing thread).
  19. Padres reacquire Chris Burke to play SS, according to MLB TR.
  20. MLB Trade Rumors has a story up noting that the Padres need a shortstop, and Towers was quoted as saying they'll "probably look outside the organization." They don't mention the Brewers or anything like that...and their rookie shorstop (Everth Cabrera...how the heck many Cabreras are there?) will probably only be out for a couple months. I can just see this kick starting the Peavy to Milwaukee speculation again, so I thought it was worth noting. Sounds like they'll probably look for some veteran player who can be a part time guy later on, maybe.
  21. I guess I don't see what alternative you're advocating. Do you really want to see them bring in Jenkins to make spot starts for Braun? I just think most people know that Jenkins is too streaky to be effective in a pinch hitting/spot start kind of role.
  22. Yeah...as has been pointed out, we've faced some tough teams and tough pitchers so far. Our next three series are against Philadelphia, Houston, and Pittsburgh. Call me crazy, but I could see the Brewers winning all three of those series. They have the ability to do it, at least. If the Brewers can somehow go 6-3 in the next 9 games, then they're suddenly at just one game under .500 before the final game of the month. Maybe I'm being over optimistic, but it doesn't seem that far fetched.
  23. This just seems like one of those stories the Nats should have kept under wraps, whether or not they decided to discipline him. Edit: Worth noting that the Nats just agreed to a five year extension, worth $45 million, with Ryan Zimmerman. MLB Trade Rumors has the story up on it. I suppose it's debatable whether it's a good move for them at this stage, but at least you can't say they aren't spending some money.
  24. Yeah, I was going to mention the high amount of pitches. But it seems like we've left bases loaded and not scored a run 5 or 6 times already this year.
