  1. I'll be there tonight. Section 215. As far as the Brewers, I hope Suppan can redeem himself, if only a little bit. Also, I love the small ball stuff the Brewers have been doing lately, but 2 or 3 homers in one game wouldn't make me sad right now. We really need to send the Cubs fans back to Chicago disappointed.
  2. Yeah, it was kind of weird to see Braun out right miss on two balls he probably would normally crush. I hope it was maybe just a mental thing and not a sign of continued injury problems.
  3. Yeah, Soriano and Ramirez always seem to have our number. For those at the game, what did the break down of Cubs fans to Brewers fans seem like? Still can't believe how un-clutch Braun and Fielder were there at the end. Especially Fielder not protecting on 2 strikes.
  4. Yeah, I thought this thread was about Suppan anyway, not Prince or whomever... Speaking of Suppan, I hope he comes in and has a solid outing tomorrow. It would feel really good to take the series tomororw night, to make up for losing today in such close fashion.
  5. I thought the three new pennants looked sharp, personally. Not sure if I like that they still have the '82 banner up high or not.
  6. Anyone else getting closed captioning on WMLW? I didn't turn it on my TV.
  7. Boy, I know it's early, but if Gamel keeps hitting like that, the Brewers may be forced to call him up.
  8. I know Zambrano had a good first outing, but I hope he can continue the trend of ace pitchers having shaky early season performances that seems to be going on across MLB.
  9. Just wanted to comment that MLB Network was showing highlights of yesterday's games, including Opening Day at the newly renovated Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City. I've never been there personally, but I always thought it looked like a nice place. Anyway, it looks pretty nice with the new improvements, and the announcers were very complimentary towards the new look in that building. If the freaking Kansas City Royals can pull off renovations of their field, why can't the Cubs do something with Wrigley?
  10. Yeah, it seems like every year for the last several years, we have to see FSN broadcast a bunch of meaningless Bucks games instead of the Brewers, early in the baseball season. You'd think the Brewers would get precedence since I imagine the ratings would be much better for them at this point. I don't know if I can mention this on this forum, but a lot of people on the JSOnline Brewers blog mention some program called TVants that they use to watch Brewers games online.
  11. Why can't you just start a thread for each player in the Minor League forum? Seems like that would make the most sense.
  12. Yeah, great crowd. We had a group of drunks in front of us (section 210), but for the most part they were harmless. I wish it hadn't been as windy before the game for tailgating, but you have to take what you get with the Wisconsin weather. As far as Cubs fans, I think maybe even 10% would be stretching it. Definitely they were in the extreme minority, which was nice. Minor annoyance: Was it just me, or were there fewer porta johns in the lots than last year? There was a huge line at Helfare (sp?) Field, and didn't see too many other options around.
  13. I don't know what he realistically could have done differently. I don't know of any other decent pitchers out there we could have realisticaly gotten. But yeah, it's going to be a long year if Gallardo is going to be the only pitcher who can consistently go on the mound without giving up multiple runs.
  14. I do kind of wish MLB tweaked their system somehow so more young guys were encouraged to stay with their first team and not bolt out the door when they first hit free agency, as seems to be the trend generally. I just don't know what the answer would be, realistically.
  15. Is Hall being sat due to poor performance, or is this just a matchup thing?
  16. Yeah, it might be partly because I now have a new Pioneer plasma HDTV (had a Mitsubishi HD-ready rear project set before), but the FS-Wisconsin SD picture does look sharper than last year's did, if only a little bit. I don't think the pitch speed "flash" is any quicker than last year's was, to be honest. Overall I thought they did a better job last night than with the first game of the series, which hopefully means they're getting more comfortable. It's not like they had a lot of spring training games to "practice."
  17. I hope none of the beer was damaged. Would be such a waste, even if it's something crappy like Old Style. Wouldn't want any Cubs fans to suffer from dehydration.
  18. This Cubs fan on another message board I go to is all doom and gloom, even before the season started. He's predicting them to finish in third with about 75 wins or so. Feels there's just too many injury chances on that team for them to win this year.
  19. If he actually get anywhere close to that, it will be a really sad and pathetic day for Major League Baseball.
  20. Yeah...and let's face it. If they each get a couple hits tonight, or hit a home run each, we're probably not even continuing this conversation.
  21. The reality is that we don't have any realistically better options. If we had some young buck pitching the heck out at AAA, then you start to consider it. We don't, at least yet, though. I just don't believe that Suppan would be that useful in the pen, or that McClung, Villy, DiFelice, or whoever will be that much better than Suppan, in order to make it worth disrupting the whole pitching staff. Especially this early in the season. Also for those advocating "cutting" Suppan if he is pitching badly in a month or two, you understand we'd be on the hook for his whole contract, right? The Brewers just can't afford to throw away money like that. We're not the Dodgers or Yankees here, and this isn't the NFL. Even if he is just used as a mop up guy, that is at least something you get back for your substantial investment.
  22. I guess I'll never understand how a batter can be _that_ affected by what spot in the lineup they're hitting from. I understand they face slightly different pitches, but I just don't get how a guy can excel in one spot and whiff badly in another. I'm hoping both Hardy and Hart are just having a bit of a slow start.
  23. That point I do agree with. Was Sabathia greedy when he took $50 or 60 million more from the Yankees? I don't think any of us can really talk unless we've personally faced a situation like that, in regards to such a substantial amount of money.
  24. Pretty depressing. Always sad to see someone killed tragically like that, but especially when they're basically just starting out in life. Two other people were killed in the accident as well. I'm glad they at least caught the individual responsible.
  25. Did Overbay really get booed at Miller Park? I seriously don't remember that one. I know Jenkins got a nice ovation when he came back. Anyway, I think if people pay for a ticket, they can boo or cheer whomever they want. I've never bought into the "it's not classy" argument. I've said it before, but what exactly is so classy about sitting outside with 20 or 30,000 other people, eating brats and drinking beer? This isn't the opera or a ballet. Sports are an emotional release for a lot of people. If they want to boo a guy, then let them. I don't think the Orioles fans have a lot to stand on in this case, though. It does sound like Teixeira may have been a bit hypocritical in some of his comments, but it's not like Baltimore or Washington were realistically going to sign him anyway.
