  1. I'm lucky enough to have enough flexibility in my work schedule (self employed) that I should be able to watch it at home on Wednesday.
  2. For those of us who weren't able to make it...did anything big or noteworthy happen? I listened to a bit on the radio, and it just sounded like the expected "rah rah, go Brewers" type of thing...which was to be expected, I guess.
  3. I know it's been said before...but it's not even really a question if they "can" sign CC to that type of money...it's if they can take the risk of signing one player to such a huge contract for an extended period of time. I mean, they will probably have the payroll to do it if they really want...it's just a question of if a small market team like Milwaukee can pay him that much money for four, five, six years, or whatever it ends up being.
  4. I was just going to post something pretty similar. He's been having a down season since the All Star break. I'm just hoping he can bust out of his "funk" starting on Wednesday.
  5. I doubt they'll let anyone in who doesn't have game tickets, like they did for Opening Day this year.
  6. Pretty thankful and exuberant at this point. There's nothing to be cocky about at all, especially without any playoff games done yet.
  7. Sounds like either scalpers or buying a ticket package for next year is the best way to go at this point. I'm glad I didn't give into cynicism and bought tickets with my sister (we share a 9 pack) a couple weeks back, even though things were looking bleak at that point.
  8. Ugh...yeah, I agree. I basically screamed at the TV after that. He just isn't showing any sort of discipline at the plate at all. He looks like he's trying to hit a home run every at bat, instead of just waiting for a good pitch and trying to put the ball in play.
  9. I wouldn't be opposed to them interviewing other people, but I don't think your Suppan comparison is relevant at all. Suppan was signed to fill a big need at the time. I don't think you can look at the hiring of a manager in the same context as signing a free agent player. (cleaned up code --1992)
  10. Well, you'd think we would have heard some kind of info about that by now...Haudricourt or someone would have at least hinted at it by now. He doesn't seem like he's moving like he's hurt.
  11. Really??? I think there should be a street named after him in Milwaukee if they win the World Series. Hell, I'd hope the Brewers give him a three or four year contract at that point. He'll have done what no other manager was able to do in the history of the franchise. Why wouldn't you want him back? (fixed code --1992)
  12. This doesn't really make any sense. We have both Suppan and Sheets now. If Sheets does walk (and especially if we can't resign CC) I assume the Brewers will get at least one upper caliber type pitcher to replace them. Yes, we'll probably still have Suppan, but it's not like his presence precludes Sheets from being in Milwaukee next year. To move on, is it likely the Brewers will offer arbitration at this point?
  13. We forgot to get a pass for the NLDS (I wasn't the one who bought them), so hopefully we'll be able to find a spot somewhere.
  14. I don't feel that bad. I have no doubt that if he had stayed on, we wouldn't be celebrating a Wild Card berth right now. I do feel a little bad about the timing, but sometimes things like that happen in life. He's going to land on his feet somewhere (probably Atlanta) and get a chance to manage again.
  15. So I was gone all afternoon, pretty much celbrating. What a great day to be a fan.
  16. Let's just get this thing done once and for all. Please, Brewers.
  17. Let's just get this thing done once and for all. Please, Brewers.
  18. I appreciate him for trying, but I resent him for not performing when it's counted most.
  19. Yeah, I had heard that as well. Ownership probably pressured him consequently.
  20. The worse thing is that if Counsell plays shortstop, Bill Hall is your 3B by default, I guess. I think I'd rather see them try Escobar at SS for at least a start, and have Counsell at 3B.
  21. From what I've heard, they pretty much all are. Like most things, if something seems too good to be true, it probably is. Let's face it, if you could just sit on your rear "a couple hours a day, a few hours a week" and have cash come pouring in, everyone would be doing it.
  22. Well, hopefully Jeff can step up, and hopefully those lingering injury issues aren't still bothering him. I assume Sveum will have him on a short leash, and at least someone like Bush or McClung can probably step in if needed.
  23. I'm surprised we haven't heard anyone complaining about "that cocky and arrogant Ryan Braun, over-celebrating a grand slam against the Pirates." Seriously though, what a great win last night. If that doesn't give the Brewers a boost going into this weekend's series against the Cubs, I don't know what will.
  24. I like hearing stuff like this, but in the end I fear the Brewers may very well make a HUGE offer to Sabathia, but some team like the Yankees will make an even bigger, more ridiculous one that "he just won't be able to turn down."
  25. I'm not advocating that the Brewers go after him, I just think you're really dismissing his value as a player.
