  1. Would like to see the Brewers go after him at this point, espeically if he could convert to LF (he already plays 1B as well as catches). He could be the Brewers' catcher of the future, since things don't seem to be going well with this Salome character...
  2. Suppan really hasn't been that bad. He's been very average, but many teams would kill to have a # 4 or 5 pitcher of his caliber. 8-8 with a 4.92 ERA...nothing to brag about, but not awful. Just saying. Honestly, though, having too many starters is a great problem to have. When is the last time the Brewers could really say they had too many pitchers that could be reasonably plugged into the rotation?
  3. If you trade Turnbow now, and don't acquire Otsuka, who is next year's closer?
  4. That idea of trading for Saltalamacchia doesn't sound so bad now.
  5. He might be useful off the bench to the Brewers, but then what's the point, really?
  6. I have to admit I am not terribly familiar with those players...but I don't see why the Brewers would want prospects at this point. I'd think if the Brewers were going to trade Braun, they'd want a quality starting pitcher (like, a can't miss 1-3 spot type guy, not a borderline long reliever), and maybe then throw in a couple upper level prospects. We're not in rebuild mode at this point.
  7. Belliard and King...because they were so great with the Brewers the first time around. Belliard is one of my least favorite MLB players...not because he's a bad guy, but I just hate how he looks, running with his gloves in his hands.
  8. My question is...how many, and which, teams are accepting the fact that they're out of contention? I've been hearing on XM that a lot of teams still consider themselves to be in the race, even though they may be in 3rd place or lower in their division. An example might be Houston, which has been bad this year, but had a hot second half last season and figure they may pull off the same feat this season. I wonder if we're going to see a lot of GMs just hold onto their pieces to try and placate their fans.
  9. It seems like most arguments for keeping Jenkins on the team after this season, hinge on the fact that he has been a Brewer his whole career. The fact is though, while he's been a solid player, that he's starting to regress a bit, and he's getting older. With all the youth on this team, the Brewers can't afford to be "nice" and save a spot for a player that could probably be replaced with a cheaper option who is just as good, if not better.
  10. You don't trade Braun because his numbers are matching what Albert Pujols did as a rookie at this point.
  11. Yeah, I agree, the lineup will at least be better without Mench and Jenkins both in it.
  12. Why are people getting on Yost so much after tonight's game? I thought he did a good job managing. He can't hit for the players...1 run over 12 innings ain't gonna cut it, and Yost is the last person to blame for that.
  13. I had no problem with Jenkins take that pitch. He got on base instead of grounding out or striking out. Why are people so amped up about Bill Hall coming back? The guy wasn't hitting all that well before he got hurt...yeah, he was starting to come on, but overall he has been disappointing this season.
  14. OK...I know Balfour stunk, but the offense is just pathetic right now. Someone needs to shake things up...I don't know if a callup or trade is the answer, but Braun and Fielder can't carry this team anymore.
  15. It would be better if they were just "The Milwaukee Crushers" as a tribute to "the man who made Milwaukee famous."
  16. I have to give him credit...I was in the camp that believed Weeks well should have been benched, or even sent down to AAA for a while, but he is starting to come around lately. Hopefully he just keeps it going...the Crew really needs his bat right now.
  17. Any time the park is packed, you're going to get a lot of dullards, unfortunately. If you've ever been to a late season weekday game when the Brewers are out of contention, you know the opposite is true...the people are diehards who are there to have fun and enjoy the game, and tend to be a lot more polite, too. Personally, I'm resolving to be a little more vocal with people if I see this kind of stuff at the next game we go to. We went to a game a while back, and the guys next to us got up literally every inning to get more beer. I don't see how they didn't get cut off...maybe they were going to different vendors or something. All the standing up and down when you're trying to enjoy baseball gets old pretty quick. At least they weren't the stupid, loud, belligerent type of drunks that usually frequent Miller Park.
  18. Other than that first sign idea, none of those would even be allowed in Miller Park, so this whole conversation is a bit pointless.
  19. Yeah, did the guys remember they were playing on FOX yesterday? I could've accepted a loss, but getting shut out on national TV was just embarrassing. Yes, I understand even the great teams sometimes fail to score, but the Brewers' offense has been pretty anemic since the All-Star break (if not before). It's time to either get some guys motivated to pick things up, or trade for a difference maker.
  20. Yeah, you aren't going to get away with that in 2007.
  21. I'm not necessarily against getting someone like Griffey, but if not for the Cubs being red hot right now, we wouldn't be bothering to have this discussion. I know the reality is that we're in a close division race, though.
  22. My understanding is that rear projection (big screen) TVs really aren't supposed to be laid down...it's not that the TV will be damaged, necessarily, but you're really going to mess up the alignment of the tubes inside the TV. You'd either have to spend a ton of time recalibrating the picture (it's not as simple as tweaking a couple knobs)), or hire a professional to do it. I'd hire a U-haul, if you have no other alternatives. When we moved from our apartment to our house, a friend helped me transport my 48" Mitsubishi in a moving truck he owns. The TV arrived safely. Yeah, it took some extra effort, but it was worth it.
  23. Who was this woman? Gary Sheffield in drag, perhaps?
  24. Do they really want to be giving out ethnic nicknames in 2007? Doesn't sound to PC...personally, I don't care, I'm just saying.
  25. Do they even look at the standings, or do they just assume that they're the Brewers and must have a losing record at this point in the season? "Yeah, best record in the NL, in first place in their competitive division, and they have an owner not named Selig. All the makings of a team that must be selling before July 31st! Should we start making up rumors about Sheets going to the Yankees yet?"
