  1. It's like an oncoming trainwreck. It's going to be terrible, but I can't look away.
  2. I liked it as well. Even though the final season (or arguably past couple seasons) was rather weak, this was a good series finale.
  3. MLB history is littered with stories of guys who were immensely physically talented, but were never able to put all that talent together into a successful career. Maybe Brett Lawrie will be one of those stories. He is still young, so he could prove all the critics wrong. It's just surprising he's basically done nothing very well since his initial debut in Toronto.
  4. Yeah, but at least this significantly lessens the chance the Brewers re-sign him to a long term deal. I like Corey, but I think extending him at his age would be unwise.
  5. There are a lot of things you can blame a manager for, rightly or wrongly. Having said that, I don't see how you can point fingers at the manager when his starting rotation performs terribly. There's really not much he can do at that point. Right now the Brewers have the worst team ERA in the NL at 4.70, and second worst team WHIP at 1.37 (ahead of only the Padres). How anyone can blame Roenicke for this team's current situation is beyond me.
  6. That's the way it looks at this point. I don't think there's really much to wrap up. Looks like it will be the Angela/Dwight wedding and that's about it. I was hoping Steve Carrell would make a cameo before the end of the series, but not looking like that's happening unless there's a big surprise in the finale.
  7. The sale went fine...I'm not sure if I still have the seller's number or not. I'm not sure if I feel like going that route or not. The paperwork for the playset was signed by the wife, who I believe lives in Central America now (I think she only was in the house sporadically while the husband spent most of his time here, at least that's what the neighbors told us). I've tried searching for used ones...there's one on eBay, but the sale is local pickup only and in New Jersey. I'll keep hunting around.
  8. Yeah, it's pretty ridiculous for a piece of molded plastic. I can't find any third party options, so we'll probably be forced to suck it up and pay them the 300 bucks.
  9. Don't forget Jeremy Jeffress, who also had "character issues" and has basically been a total bust as well. Other than Nelson Cruz, who took years to develop, Melvin hasn't traded anyone who has made a major impact at the MLB level. Overall his track record with trades has been stellar. What any of this has to do with Hiram Burgos, I'm not sure, but here we are.
  10. Last year we moved, and the house came with one of those Rainbow outdoor playsets. Well, the slide developed a plastic crack on the bottom, and now a large piece came off, basically making the slide unsafe to use. My wife emailed the company about a replacement. Not only is the warranty not transferable, but a replacement slide is $300. Seems a bit ridiculous for me considering it's a simple 8 ft yellow plastic slide.
  11. Latest reports are that he left game with a "tingling" in his arm, but felt better afterwards. Will be checked out today by a doctor.
  12. The problem I think has been that young pitching has been so overvalued of late that you have to give up a ton to get any in return. At least that seems to have been the case.
  13. I still can't believe some are romanticizing Ken Macha's tenure as Brewers manager. I felt like he didn't maximize the teams' talents (the base running issues that have been mentioned) and he obviously completely lost the team towards the end. As far as Ned Yost, my biggest problem with him was that it seemed like he managed the game based more on what he hoped his players would do, rather than what they could reasonably be expected to do. I can't remember how many times we'd see a pitcher with a high pitch count, and two outs, and obviously out of gas. Yost would sit there and leave him in to get lit up, just hoping he'd figure out a way to miraculously get out of it so he wouldn't have to use a reliever at that point.
  14. Maybe the Cardinals just have a much better team than the Brewers right now?
  15. Yeah, they have nothing to stand on. I'd tell them to pound sand.
  16. Yes, this would be even more awesome than those guys dressed up as the "lighting crew" a couple years ago when the Cardinals were in town.
  17. Yep, he's finally coming to realize his full potential. Back when the trade went down, I was on board with it because I was really tired of JJ Hardy. I'm glad Gomez has become much more than just a placeholder type from a "castoff for castoff" trade.
  18. The Naked Gun.
  19. I don't see the point of caring about them one way or the other. They don't bother me, but I'm not sitting here drooling over them either.
  20. Rogers hasn't done anything close in the majors to warrant any talk of a long term contract, unlike Segura. Not sure why anyone would even bother creating such a comparison.
  21. Aramis Ramirez: If he comes back and plays comparably to how he did last season, his contract will go down as the best free agent signing in Brewers history so far.
