  1. Yeah, it's amazing to think that last summer people were saying, "He might have to be moved for shortstop eventually." Can't really see him regressing defensively any time soon. I thought the talk of a long term contract was a bit premature when that thread was started, but now I'm all on board. I think the Brewers have another potential All-Star on their hands.
  2. http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/204223871.html Sounds like he'll make his next start.
  3. Just announced this afternoon. He hit .500 this past week, so well deserved.
  4. The Brewers should be able to knock Feldman around for some runs. Hopefully Peralta pitches decently and can get the win. I'm looking forward to watching this one as the weather looks to be crappy outside (again).
  5. I would move him down in the order. Maybe he's just one of those weird players that don't hit well in certain situations or spots in the lineup. I'd probably try Lucroy 4th or even, as much as I hate to say it...ugh...Betancourt.
  6. Not to rehash the entire thing, but the Yankees would have just kept upping their offer until they got him. The Steinbrenners said there was no way they weren't signing him, and money was basically no object.
  7. He really doesn't get a bad rap. He seems lazy in the field. Think back to the passed ball that went off the umpire's mask and bounced to the dugout. He barely beat Lucroy to it despite Lucroy being at least twice as far away. Yuni was in La la land. He does have some skills. Just not as a fielder or as a hitter. He has good people skills. At least that is the impression I get. I don't think he's lazy...he's just slow and has bad range.
  8. It's not like Mike Fiers is some young prospect that needs to be coddled; he's going to be 28 in a couple months. I have no problem sending him down with how bad he's been since end of last season. Hopefully Burgos can make the most of his opportunity, if this is indeed what's happening.
  9. Yeah, I have no problem with this. The team needs to try something to improve the bullpen and this is low risk with high reward potential.
  10. I think people are too quick to judge. We don't know how often he goes out to drink or how much he drinks, other than a few token anecdotal stories from people. The Brewers were off yesterday so it's not surprising that a younger guy might be out drinking with friends. It's not like he works a regular 9-5 job and had to be in the office today. Make no mistake, I'm not condoning what Gallardo did. It was reckless and stupid. I can't imagine having a .22 BAC and being able to get into my car, let alone start it up and drive. What's most frustrating is that he obviously had alternatives available (free MLBPA car service, call a cab, whatever) and didn't use them. He only has himself to blame for any consequences he faces, and rightly so. Having said all that, I don't feel the need to get out a pitchfork and run him out on a rail. Hopefully he owns up to his mistake and learns a valuable lesson. Thankfully no one else was hurt by his actions.
  11. Has it been confirmed if the Cubs will be playing some home game at Miller Park or elsewhere like was talked about previously?
  12. Yeah, this team is off to a franchise worst start since 2002. Not good, but there's no way they're this bad for the whole season, like I said earlier.
  13. Today's Brewers lineup via Tom Haudricourt: RF Norichika Aoki SS Jean Segura LF Ryan Braun 2B Rickie Weeks C Jonathan Lucroy 1B Martin Maldonado CF Carlos Gomez 3B Yuniesky Betancourt RHP Marco Estrada I'd take some runs in lieu of a win at this point.
  14. I admit I'm very down on the team right now, but you're right...at least we know they can't be this bad all year.
  15. FIRE WYNEGAR!!!
  16. It would cost more just to suck as much as the bullpen does now. Well, I guess the way I see it, the roster is already a total mess. I mean, we have Yuni and Lalli as regular starters at the moment. Signing K-Rod probably won't make or break our season at this point.
  17. I don't know why people would be that upset if we re-signed K-Rod. Even if he sucks, would he be any worse than what we've been trotting out for the most part?
  18. Probably, but I think Brian would have to do it and he's not really around here anymore.
  19. He can't be sent down without passing through waivers. I doubt anyone would dare claim him at this point.
  20. Saw this on another message board and thought it was pretty funny:
  21. I'd say it's the opposite. We (brewerfan.netters) are by far and away the minority here. The on field instructionals are designed to draw in the casual fan and explain things they may not know. The people I know who like them are actually pretty die hard fans who follow the team every game...they just may not be people who know some of intricacies of sabremetrics or who our starting low A pitching staff is comprised of.
  22. I actually know a couple people that say they enjoy the on field instructors, so apparently there is an audience for it. Baseball manager press conferences tend to be pretty dry anyway.
  23. Morris had ever chance to win the starting 1B job in spring training and failed miserably. I can't believe people are trying to pin that one on Melvin still.
  24. I've been watching it. Haven't caught last night's episode yet (it's waiting on the DVR). I think it's a good but not a great show. I find it a little bit predictable so far, to be honest.
