  1. If the rumors are to be believed, the Phillies were shopping Bohm all winter. Perhaps they didn’t believe in his 2024 campaign and were trying to capitalize on inflated value? I would take Bohm in a Megill trade, but the Brewers would be taking on more salary than they’re giving and need a quality prospect or two to make the deal worthwhile. He’s better than what we’ve got, but not a great value for what he’ll get in arb
  2. Unstoppable force (Brewers bats) meets immovable object (Orioles arms). Let’s take care of business
  3. Always like reading the fangraphs write ups as they are generally more conservative/critical. Helps to ground my expectations a bit :)
  4. Pumping 103 to get the strikeout to end the 6th. This guy is an alien
  5. Oliver Dunn what are you doing!? You had the inside the parker with a headfirst slide
  6. Misiorowski *only* sitting 96-97 in the first. Grooved a 2-0 fastball down the middle for a solo shot to left, but retired the other 3 batters Edit: Looks like he ripped a couple 99s in there as well
  7. Theoretically they could trade those 3, put Henderson and Misiorowski in the bullpen, and still have Freddy, Myers, Priester, Quintana, Patrick, Hall, Gasser, Ashby, and Rodriguez as starting options. In a scenario where they’re no longer trying to compete, that should be enough to get them to the finish line
  8. Freddy is throwing the ball well now, but a #2 starter is the level he has pitched to most of his career and how the industry is likely to view him in a trade I think the Brewers could get a very nice trade package for Freddy. As you have pointed out, there’s added value in his cost and control - I wouldn’t be surprised if they were able to get a couple top 100 guys. But there’s a pretty steep curve in prospect value at the top of the rankings and I don’t think Freddy on his own is enough to command the player that has a legitimate chance at being the top prospect in baseball by the end of the season
  9. I understand that, but still don’t think it’s in the ballpark in practice. De Vries is a switch hitting shortstop lighting up A+ at 18 years old. He’s up to #3 on MLB Pipeline. The Padres are being aggressive with him and treating him like a future star. That’s not the caliber of player you trade for a year and a half of a #2 starter.
  10. I think Luis Castillo is about as close as you can get for a comp. Pretty good match in terms of value/control
  11. The Padres have been aggressive beyond belief, but there’s no chance in hell they’d entertain that deal. The Brewers would have to give up another legitimate piece or two for a top 10 prospect
  12. He’s clearly more of a utility player long term, but he’s likely our best option at 3B. Give him more major league ABs and I think we’ll see the numbers improve because he doesn’t struggle putting the ball in play
  13. Seems like we’re making a mountain out of a molehill here. Both guys aren’t pitching well and we likely have two starters returning to replace them in short order. Myers had thrown the day before and they had an opportunity to add an extra reliever for the week
  14. Nah, keep Freddy to lead a young rotation next year and just get the comp pick if you can’t extend him. We’re trying to win now - Freddy is cheap and the farm system is already in very good shape
  15. They managed only 2 runs and 4 hits and people are more focused on the “failure” of the pitching/defense This offense is currently the worst since 2015. The only thing they’ve done well is run the bases
  16. Would not at all be surprised to see him touching 100 down the road. He’s generating a lot of power with that lower half. Got some crossfire action going too
  17. Priester seems to have some young Freddy in his game. There’s always one inning where he just can’t find the plate. I forgot what the exact count is, but he has 6 or 7 multi-BB innings and 19 total BBs. You just can’t do that consistently and find success in this league
  18. I don’t think the first package makes much sense for the Blue Jays. In the scenario where they’re still trying to compete, they’re probably keeping Bichette. Maybe they’d deal him if controllable assets are included (Hader trade)
  19. I understand it’s a new pitch for him, but you know it was something that was never really discussed within the organization or just making an educated guess? I’m just scratching my head on the Brewers process if it wasn’t in their plans and the White Sox pegged it from the start
  20. Smith’s best pitch by Stuff+ has been his changeup (101). I’d be curious to know how much the Brewers pushed him to develop that pitch or why it’s just showing up this year. Having that wider arsenal makes a big difference for someone with just okay stuff
  21. I don’t disagree that it’s a lot of value for an unproven arm. I said as much on the previous page. I just hate all these strong takes one month into something that is clearly a long term play from both sides I look at this deal with curiosity rather than disdain. This is a front office that is (sometimes annoyingly) cautious. They didn’t need to make this trade. Yes there were injuries, but there were several other routes they could’ve taken that didn’t involve giving up meaningful assets. That doesn’t make you stop and think about what they think about Priester and/or the guys they’re giving up? Are they that high on Priester? Are they lower on Rodriguez and the upcoming draft class than the industry may be? How did the teams arrive on this package? We’ll see how it all plays out over the next few years. I’m very curious about both ends of the deal because you don’t often see trades of these types of players. Hook needs to get Priester to cut down on the walks first and foremost
  22. Seems pretty foolish to throw in the towel on Priester already, but it appears your mind is already made up
