  1. Agreed on the hitting needed. Although we seem to have some strong international groups of late to maybe cover it. Unsure this draft will have the depth without Underwood. Lefty with projection who can also spin the ball, to me, is a $1MM kid, as that seems to be a very limited group to get. Hopefully, the pivot works enough to sign enough of the other high upside kids they picked in 11-20 ... which I thought was a great idea. Just disappointed as Underwood looked to be the potential biggest get. Cadiz does look good. Etc .... Spend the $2.3MM and get 3-4 of the h.s. kids, plus Coil.
  2. Quite the bummer ... The #1, I thought, out of that 11-20 group. Still so confused how a ($750K?) offer does not beat a college offer if this is what you want to do with your life. You are taking the guess that after 3 years of college, you will be a top 60-ish pick ... versus the math involved of this 6 years vs those 6 years. Dunno. Maybe I'm missing something in the college coach relationship (or other relationships) vs the scout/Brewer relationship. Wish the kid the best. Was loving the idea of a Cairone & Underwood bonus to the staff in 2032-7.
  3. So with the 2MM+ remaining, can they sign Hughes, Underwood, Lauridsen, Cadiz, and Roupe? Guessing Bentley & Holden are out of range unless one of those 5 hs sign for $300K or less (probably would only be Roupe). And guessing Coil signs without going overslot. Thoughts? Without any knowledge, it seems Hughes & Roupe may be the cheapest; Hughes due to small school and Roupe having already committed to sign. If Underwood, Lauridsen, and Cadiz all signed for ~$650K ....?
  4. Quite surprised Vucinovich signed for underslot. Wow!
  5. Ha! Smart way to handle that ... So if my math is not too broken, that would have him closer to only 58% of a "pitch totals from 2024 x 1.5" number. Leaving about 1100 for the remainder of this season, although with innings & up and down time also perhaps being a factor.
  6. It sure seems 2026 major league ready pitching is one of the Crew's strengths, and depth. If Suarez is the big piece to acquire this week, shouldn't 2 or even 3 of Gasser, Myers, Crow, Henderson, Carlos Rodriguez, etc ... be the main part of the deal, with maybe a lower minor leaguer (Quintana) as a cherry? Would hate to see them trading not out of their depth, and prefer to keep as many prospect upside guys around as possible,
  7. So funny that my immediate reaction to this trade suggestion wasn't Crow, wasn't Patrick or Myers, but was the 24 high schooler. :-) Really a fan of all of the 23 & 24 high school draftees, and moving even one of them feels a bit like trading a kid. But, there are a number of them, and these deals make a lot of sense.
  8. Has felt for a while this was a very obvious option, for all the reasons you listed. Thanks Harold!
  9. Kept the quality depth. Lost the bulk depth.
  10. Seriously doubt it will be Priester. Too much invested. And the DL Hall/Priester "complete game" has become a great pen rest day.
  11. I really liked the 11-20th round concept of taking a number of high upside guys. If you sign 4 or 5, you may have a bunch of 4th round talents taken late, and possibly cheap. Really a good mindset in the draft based off of their current depth throughout the system, I thought.
  12. NIL now means they will get money either way. :-(
  13. Agreed we don't. But some of these kids are exciting - and that is cool too.
  14. Ha! He actually looks more Magill-ish to me. If he can throw strikes, that will indeed give a high floor.
  15. Loved this pick. Would think they had to have discussed money enough to draft him and keep that pick. Would he get $1.5MM in 3 years of NIL money from college?
  16. So Ebel is projecting like a "more hit tool focused, less power heavy, more likely to play 3B" version of Bitonti?
  17. Crew holding a Matthew Fisher connection ala Cooper Pratt in 23? Ginger work with him with a second round number to wait for the Crew in the 5th round or so? Feels as if there could be that type of connection/ deal ...
  18. Fischer should be under, no? As a position player, he isn't going back to college to maybe be drafted higher as a 22yo.
  19. It is interesting, in that it seems the trust level in the front office is really high right now. They have been making a lot of moves and - with certainly needing time yet on a number of them - most (90% even???) seem to be working out positively. Thus maybe further trust in how they value the players value is the right move.
  20. Really would be kinda nice to send Ortiz down to reset. Cooper Pratt, a month ago, seemed to getting hot, where maybe by now he would be in Nashville, but that hasn't worked out - so he is more than a year away. The move to make would be Turang to short, no? Just tough in midseason, although with the All Star break here, maybe this is when you would. Durbin's O has been fine of late, but would sure prefer his arm at 2B than 3B ... Something short term, for a package of the 16th best starter in the system and the 8th best shortstop, or something, is the type of thing I would like.
