i have a gateway that has a similar problem. it will last for about 1/2 hour on the battery. it is about 3 1/2 years old so it isnt totally unexpected. i am sure a new battery would solve the problem, but i have no need to use it without it being plugged in at the present moment. i also had to buy a new power supply after about 1 1/2 years. it wouldnt charge the battery unless it was plugged in at a certain angle. cheap-o plug on ebay solved that problem. or i could have bought the extended warranty from best buy that the sales guy offered. when i said no it was like he was personally offended. i know they make a mint off them, but most of the time they are not worth the investment.

i tried this the other day and i came home to still-frozen block of meat. thankfully it was beef that i could toss in the microwave on low.

i keep nearly nothing these days since all of my bills are archived online. i dont even get a paper paystub anymore, so that problem is solved. mortgage even keeps a couple years of 1098 and 1099 information. the only thing i keep are medical bills since they dont all come from the same place.

yikes. i agree with ry. if you split the difference, you are both still looking at a tough commute. and if you hit a snowstorm (which i swear happened during AM rush hour about 4 times last winter) it is way worse.

is there any confirmation of the one in west milwaukee being a sure thing. the story came out in the summer about one opening by january, but i havent seen/heard anything since

i hate to nitpick, but i dont think all 29,000 students at UWM are from the 5-county tax area. also, most athletic programs pride themselves on the fact that their operations run on zero taxpayer dollars. they also only usually play about 15-20 home games total.

just a thought. plan this thing way out in advance...like summer/fall of 09. the further out it is the more likely people will plan around the games than the opposite. allow a bunch of geographic areas to field teams (milwaukee, madison, green bay, etc...maybe even further...chicago, twin cities) and make it a mini-tournament. maybe even talk with the brewers about being a partner if it is going to be a charity event. maybe they could offer helfaer at a discount. plan it around a game with a 4pm championship followed by a tailgate and brewers game. just thoughts.

for example, never tell a child they cant go to bernie brewer's house (what mine calls miller park) if they are naughty!

my oldest will be 3 in december. we also have a 2 month old. thankfully she likes the baby, but she knows when we are holding a sleeping baby she can get away with murder. she is in an in home daycare so she doesnt get so many bad "habits" but she has definitely learned how to test and push us. ignoring tantrums help. many times they just want attention.

it may be wrong, but it generally is effective.

if the team wasnt talking like it was rumored that the band wasnt, possibly. there is rumor that people were asked to come forward and nobody did. i am guessing (total speculation) that the band was suspended in hopes that the guilty party(ies) would fess up...which didnt seem to happen. after having taught for a few years, it is amazing how quick the facts come out when blanket punishments are given out. again, this is just all speculation.

though it was proven to be false, "sexual fondling" is a pretty serious thing. this was brought to the attention of the authorities the day before the game. bottom line: i think (hope) they get the point this time.

this was brought up again earlier this year, and that announcement was followed some time later by an announcement that the stadium tax had its most "profitable" month ever. that story didnt get quite as much coverage.

apples and oranges. i am pretty certain that if they had the time to pinpoint specific people, those people would have been punished...not everyone.

a couple thoughts: it was known that kevin gullikson was the person in question when his situation occurred. there was no question about who did what. same with the shoebox ordeal. the greeks are scrutinized for hazing. they are overseen by the UW, and in particular, the same dean of students office that acted on the band. i believe the sig ep house was investigated for some hazing that took place just this past spring. fraternities have been suspended and removed from the UW for their actions. i served on the greek council in madison (about 10 years ago now) and we received complaints of hazing that were investigated and dealt with by higher ups in the university...especially when they involve physical harm or dangerous binge drinking. the problem with fraternity hazing is that nearly nobody complains about it. i was hazed, but the hazing didnt involve anything that i thought to be overly negative or threatening/dangerous. my fraternity had a hazing problem a couple years before i arrived and the situation was handled by the university. the older guys educated the younger guys about what was OK and what was not, and we passed that information to guys younger than us. my wife's sorority was placed on probation (all of them) by both the university and their national council for a drinking incident that only a couple people were involved in. it sounds like there was a complaint that was serious enough to require discipline and there was not enough time to determine who the culpable parties are/were. third hand stories made it sound like there was an initial effort to stonewall the investigation, which may have led to the severity of the punishment.

got a letter from the brewers today stating pretty much everything said above. 09 ticket info will be out in a couple weeks. you can request a refund if you wish. WS tickets were never charged. i believe S&H was included in the initial payment, as was parking for all possible games

stories elsewhere say that they were unable to pinpoint individuals, so they punished the group. it all apparently blew up friday afternoon, so investigation time was minimal. they were apparently questioning band members one by one over the weekend.

kids can look 2 for a long time if you want to have them on your lap for 3 hours! my first will be 3 over the winter unfortunately. no more freebies for her!

from my madison days (7 years ago now...yikes!) the band people i knew partied just as hard (if not harder) than the greeks (which i was one of). the freshmen were required to "do things" (example...bring breakfast to pre-game practice...tough!!) for the upperclassmen. dont know if it went beyond that, but they seemed like their own little "fraternity" to me (again an outsider) from an outsider standpoint, the acts on the bus trip in '06 (kissing to get to the can, "sex acts", etc) almost sound like tradition...like a rite of passage. some traditions die hard i guess. hopefully they got the point.

i would think that most people will be in the stadium. the sunday cubs game was near the fullest i have seen the stadium before a first pitch.

they will send the guy straight through instead of letting them in the lots. i have seen it happen before when people try to get into preferred without a pass. as for parking, they will open whenever their staff is in place. sometimes this is right on time, sometimes this has been up to an hour early. i have seen both situations.
