  1. If I were Reggie Jackson and not everything that they've shown isn't true, I'd be calling a lawyer. They make him look like a spoiled rotten little kid.
  2. I think that Sheff got used to being in the limelight in New York and can't stand not being on the "big stage". He just like to hear himself talk. I'd like to hear some of the other black players opinions on the same subject. I really think it's time for some of them to tell Sheffield to shut up. Here's their chance. On the HOF, I'm really not sure about it. If he were to play on one or two teams, then maybe. But, it seems that he leaves controversy and questions behind him at every stop. How is Sheffield not considered racist? To say Jeter don't know what it's like because he's half white? If a white man were to say anything close to that, their contract would be immediately voided and they'd be packing their bags as we speak. It's time for somebody to step up and tell these spoiled brats that if everybody were racist, the MLB would be all white. I don't see that happening.
  3. Could Cappy be our loogy until everything gets straightened out with him? I think either of our young long relievers would be better suited for the rotation right now. Cappy is 0-6 in his last nine starts. The Cardinals have already proven last year that you don't need a lefty starter to win in the playoffs.
  4. I dunno. He would be a great insurance policy if we lose Sheets to free agency. And our 2008 staff? Sheets, Oswalt, Gallardo, Suppan, Villanueva? Capuano, Hall, Bush, and Inman for Oswalt and Lidge? Wow.
  5. The only lefty the Cardinals had last year was Mulder. He got hurt before the break last year. Don't think it really matters.
  6. Did anybody notice that Rottino started the AAA all star game behind the plate? I certainly did. i would think that means that Vinny has caught alot of games in AAA this year. If he improves his defense, he's our future starting catcher. Maybe even a back up in September.
  7. You guys evidently only look at numbers. Stolen bases have no effect on OPS. So if you were to add stolen bases to OPS (which I think makes sense), Crawford would be a much better player than Jenks. Everybody says Jenks is better than this or that player. He may have been at one time, but now he is a platoon player at best. It isn't even fair to compare this years splits, since Jenks doesn't bat against lefties. Carl Crawford is a terrific player. I'd give Tampa Weeks, Vargas and Inman for him right now. Move Hall to second permanently, and have an outfield of Crawford, Hart, and Jenks for the rest of the season.
  8. I want to get 282378, get it? 28 23 7 8
  9. I still would like to see Crawford or Griffey in our outfield. Vargas or Bush, Jenks, Gwynn, and Inman for Griffey and Weathers. Or for Crawford and Reyes? Stocks up our pen and gives us another stud in the outfield.
  10. Southern Wisconsin is blessed. Emil's pizza is now available at Woodman's. They are from Watertown. They used to only sell to bars in the Watertown area. Now, every single bar in Janesville carries Emil's Pizza. I actually have people call the bar for take out. No kidding!! Nothing flashy. Just great pizza. Thin crust or Top Heavy. Both are great.
  11. Pete Rose is second at 44. No reason to get excited, Hart isn't even half way to Charlie Hustle yet.
  12. Well, we blew another game for Yovanni. Very important for Bennie to get a win tomorrow.
  13. Little "Schnitzel" almost made me sick that day.
  14. Funny, in the eighth inning, Schroeder said Froemming was consistent, and that's what you want. turned the channel to WGN, and Brenley says that Froemming has been horrible all day. Something to the fact that he has called a number of bad pitches strikes. A complete difference in opinion within 30 seconds.
  15. Reed, do you have a dog? There are racoons all over janesville, but they stay away from my yard. I'm guessing it's because of the scent of my dogs. Although, the rabbits are too stupid to figure that out. Get this: We have a decent sized back yard (80 x 120) with a chain link fence. My dogs see this rabbit in the back yard, and she scoots under the fence, knowing my dogs can't get there. Then, she decides to put her "nest" or whatever you call it, right in my backyard!! I thought my dogs had found mice to start with. All I can say is that my mini-dachshund swallowed one whole. Two weeks later, she nested in the backyard again. Nice. eh?
  16. I don't like it at all, sorry Brian. Wilkerson hasn't been solid for quite a while. I actually think a trade of Gross for him would be a coup for Texas, given contract situations. Adding Gwynn and Jackson for a marginal minor leaguer doesn't make sense either. They have much more value. Now, I'd trade that package for Gagne. Texas may go for that.
  17. I agree that Vargas has been good this season, but his WHIP is so high, I think he may not be quite so good during the second half. If we deal anybody, my vote is for Vargas. You can get a quality relief arm for him straight up. Sell high, right? Vargas and Gross for a solid arm? Sign me up. Sheets, Gallardo, Capuano, Suppan, Villanueva with Bush out of the pen.
  18. The ads for Captain and Jack are for the malted brews. They may not show it much, but technically it's for the little bottles of stuff. Absolut ads I've seen are in print, and everywhere.
  19. One more inning is fine. Seems pretty effortless.
  20. They say these things like Mike's and Smirnoff Ice are brews so they can have commercials. That's why Captain still has that horrible brew they have. Liquor companies cannot run ads on television. We have the Chill at my place and alot of the softball players like it when they first come in. Then they switch to beer. Miller trying to get some of the Corona market, that's all.
  21. Byrnes was unreal last year. 25-25. Hard to argue with that.
  22. Hall has been OK in the outfield this year. Nothing better. Plus, who's to say that last year wasn't an abberation? IIRC, Crawford has signed for a while too. And, he's had a number of great seasons in a row. Proven. Sure, we give up some young talent. But we get one of the great players of the game today. People around here don't see Crawford much, but I compare him to Gwynn, but extremely better in every way. Decent power, tremendous speed, .300 hitter, left handed, and makes this team a WS contender right now. Plus an OPS of .934 vs LHP this year. And an OPS of .955 on the road.
  23. I would move Hardy to third, Braun to fifth, and lead Hart off. Hart RF Graffy 2B Hardy SS Fielder 1B Braun 3B Hall CF Mench LF Estrada C I'm on the Braun to the 5-hole bandwagon!!!
  24. With Crawford signed for a while, he'd fit in great around here. I'd give up alot for him. But, I'm not Doug Melvin. A trade of Hall, Villy, Palmisano, and Capellan would be quite a bit. But Hall could play anywhere for them and Villy is the young arm they covet. Bush easily slides into the long relief role, while Gallardo gets his overdue call. We wouldn't have to give up Braun or Weeks because they would have those spots filled already. A outfield of Crawford, Hart, and Jenks would be great for the rest of this year. And, Crawford, Gwynn, and Hart next year would easily be the fastest outfield in baseball.
