  1. Not sure, honestly. Maybe the receptionist/scheduler doesn't know the ins-and-outs of the hospital's policies? Here is the actual order, for those that haven't read it: https://evers.wi.gov/Documents/COVID19/EMO12-SaferAtHome.pdf The only restrictions actually placed on healthcare providers is that 'telehealth services should be used where feasible'. Most of the hospital 'elective procedure' cancellations were enacted by the hospitals themselves prior to the 'stay at home' order itself.
  2. Yeah, very much so. The draft really couldn't come at a better time....
  3. I think this has come up a number of times in a similar context, but I believe you're incorrectly blaming the 'stay at home' order, rather than hospital policy. Best wishes to your wife.
  4. The goal is to keep it flat. The only way it stays flat indefinitely is if powers that be and the masses are both willing to sacrifice their livelihoods and risk getting sicker from all the other maladies that require more than a teladoc appointment to diagnose. That simply wont happen, and frankly it's not the right way to look at how to deal with this virus over the next few months. How will all those maladies be dealt with with an overwhelmed medical system? You've repeatedly cited the Minnesota study, which projects their hospitals to reach capacity in June, while waiting a few weeks pushes that out several weeks. If the 'best case scenarios' show an overwhelmed medical system in mid-summer, who exactly is being helped by that? Have there been any studies as to the effects of the weather (or the expected effects) on COVID-19? A lot of that was still speculative fairly recently. It would be reassuring to know for sure that the summer will help.
  5. They're re-using surgical masks, making direct deals with suppliers and bidding against other hospitals to acquire the materials they need. Doctors and nurses are working around the clock, and there's no real progression in treatment plans and no vaccine in sight. That doesn't seem like they're managing ok. Some areas are doing better than others, obviously. The goal of extending the order is to make sure the onslaught doesn't come because the social distancing is working. Our grandfathers gave up so much for such a selfless cause, and it's astoundingly remarkable that after what, five weeks of being asked just to stay in our homes, in an era of video games, streaming services, Amazon, and food delivery, people are holding protests and clamoring for their Governors to open Buffalo Wild Wings. That mindset literally puts those very grandfathers in harm's way in this case.
  6. The goal is to keep it flat.
  7. My point is, at the point they drafted Brohm and Flynn, he HAD 'retired.' He wasn't still debating it, he had had a press conference saying he was done. So it was significantly different than the numerous previous offseasons where he talked about it a lot.
  8. Regarding the Packers draft, I continue to want these guys, in this order: Murray, Jefferson, McKinney. Zero problem if they take Cleveland or Jones at OT. Murray's projections are all over the place, from as high as mid-1st to slightly behind GB at 30. It seems like all three of the above may take a small move up to get, and I'm not opposed to that if they really want one of them. That said, a modest trade down to a team that wants to move up into the 1st for a QB with the 5th year option probably makes the most sense. After the top-tier WRs, it really doesn't matter to me which the Packers choose if they slid back a bit. And there's a lot of talent in the upper half of the 2nd round that isn't much different than what would be there at 30. In a deep draft, I want the extra 2nd or 3rd they'd pick up with a move back. I want no part of Austin Jackson.
  9. Reviewing mocks this morning, it's apparent the Lions are in a fantastic spot in this draft and should come out of this looking very good. Which will make it all the more impressive when they find a way to screw it up somehow....
  10. I’ve heard from a friend at a local hospital that 60% of the Brown County cases have been traced to a single facility. I won’t name the facility because I don’t want to harm the reputation of this business until the report is verified, but it was apparently communicated in a hospital memo. The Green Bay area was tracking well below average for the last 6 weeks, so to see such an explosion now is disheartening (especially after we’ve all been so careful). I've heard something similar, completely unofficially. I think this is what makes a whole-scale 'reopening' of everything so problematic: all it takes is a case or two to cause things to grow exponentially in a short period of time. If it's happening now, how much worse will it be when 'non-essential' businesses re-open?
  11. Jefferson does seem to be sliding down into the 20s more and more. I'd strongly prefer to take him if they go WR 1st, otherwise, take your pick of whomever from the second tier is there at 62.
  12. An increasing number of mocks have Denzel Mims going to Green Bay at 30.... can anyone sell me on the pick? Seems like a guy that you could trade back and get in the early/mid 2nd, and I'm always freaked out by guys that rocket up draft boards because of combine performances.
  13. Was Rollie involved in multiple PED scandals that I'm unaware of? I'll be absolutely shocked if Braun's number is retired. The evidence on Braun was dubious, if you ask me. The arbitrator threw the suspension out prior to 2012 (and then got fired for siding not just with Braun, but at least one other player in similar circumstances, Eliezer Alfonso, IIRC). A mishandled test, and then MLB firing the arbitrator who voided a suspension on the basis of the mishandled test, kinda raises the question in my mind as to whether Braun was guilty. It should be noted after the Braun and Alfonso cases, MLB did change their procedures. Clancy, that's all well and good, but then completely ignores the suspension for PEDs Braun DID serve in 2013.
  14. Completely unsurprizingly, Wuhan completely revised their COVID numbers today, dramatically increasing both numbers of deaths and cases.
  15. Was Rollie involved in multiple PED scandals that I'm unaware of? I'll be absolutely shocked if Braun's number is retired.
  16. I fixed this for you above. He was a Brewer for two years, but played in Milwaukee much longer. His number is as much a tip of the cap to his time with the Braves in Milwaukee as it was anything to do with the Brewers. The reason Simmons won't have his number retired is similar to why Sutton's wasn't. Both HOFers, both minor contributors here. Rollie went in rightfully as an A, but he won a Cy Young and MVP here.
  17. Favre had already retired from the Packers before they even drafted Brohm or Flynn. He waffled after Rodgers' rookie season in 2005, then again after the 2006 season before finally retiring after 2007. He never retired after the 2007 season. He had talked about it from 2006-2007, but it was normally right after the previous season ended and he wanted to play after a month or two off. In the offseason of 2008, He talked about it pretty seriously... on and off and on and off. After the 2008 draft, where they drafted 2 backup QBs to Rodgers, he proclaimed he still wanted to play. So they traded him to the Jets. He didn't retire until 2010. Favre held the press conference below to announce his retirement on March 6, 2008 (which IS right after the 2007 season): https://www.packers.com/video/brett-favre-retirement-press-conference-2438218 The Packers understandably drafted two QBs to develop behind Rodgers in the 2008 draft ~7 weeks later.
  18. Yeah, I think that was the bigger problem with Reynolds. Forced into a 4-3 DE role, and not sized for it at all. For a 4-3, there's a strong-side DE who is a 5/6 technique who usually is larger (think Vonnie Holliday), and there is a weak-side DE who usually is a 7-technique who usually is smaller (think Robert Quinn, who is listed at 6'4", 257, or Chandler Jones, who is 6'5", 265, or Danielle Hunter, who is 6'5", 255). He's not small for the weak-side 7-technique DE, which is what he was drafted for. Problem was, they already had that guy on the roster in Kabeer. What they actually needed was the 5/6 guy to replace Vonnie Holliday, who left after the 2002 season. Add in an Aaron Kampman in the 02 draft, and Reynolds was swept away by a field of more productive 260 pounders.
  19. I think Braun is a lock to NOT be retired. I think his legacy is similar to Paul Hornung's in Green Bay- because of the obvious 'other issues', they won't retire it. Walk of fame, you bet. But not a retired jersey. The Brewers have maintained a high standard with the jerseys, as each of them made the HOF. I think your bubble is more possible than either of the two 'locks' for that reason, but I think that's unlikely as well. I think '22' is the correct answer to the question of which comes next.
  20. I finished my first OOTP season last night- The Crew ran away with the NL central, beat the Braves 3-0 in the NLDS, then lost to the Dodgers in 7 in the NLCS (sounds familiar....). Houser, Suter, and Peralta had nice seasons in the rotation, with the former two better than the latter. Woodruff was very mediocre and hurt by an absurdly high BABIP. I essentially traded turang for Garrett Richards to stabilize the rotation, and after he got hurt following two (good) starts with the crew, he provided a solid 1-5 rotation that kept the very good offense in most games. Bullpen was fantastic, anchored by Burnes, Knebel, and Hader. Small-ish trades to acquire Will Smith and Hector Neris during the season, which made them crazy good. Hader was the reliever of the year, once again. Offense was unstoppable early in the year, and tapered significantly as the season went on. Yelich won the NL MVP, Hiura and Narvaez were amonst the best hitters at their positions, and Garcia, Urias and Cain were great contributors. Smoak started the year hot, and finished with 30 HR, but like Sogard, fell off dramatically as the season went on. Sogard ended up on the bench for the end of the year, using an Arcia at SS/Urias at 3rd combo in the playoffs. Pitching is pretty well set for the offseason. Trying to find a permanent solution for 3B, along with a better second catcher (the game hates Pina), and possibly a more consistent option for 1B vs. Smoak.
  21. To be fair, Reynolds wasn't a DE either. Yeah, I think that was the bigger problem with Reynolds. Forced into a 4-3 DE role, and not sized for it at all.
  22. I want Murray in the worst way, which means he'll go off the board in the teens. Beyond him, I'm hoping one of the elite WR's (both of the Alabama guys & Jefferson) fall enough to either plausibly make it to 30, or make a small trade-up possible without destroying their draft capital. Absent that, I want a small trade back to grab an extra 3rd, which I wouldn't mind them using on Frohm, Hurts, etc. Seems like Jefferson is the guy that COULD be there in the 20s, and I'd be very interested. I want to stay away from Mims, who has projections all over the board and worries me. I'm also incredibly down on Austin Jackson. I think Xavier McKinney would possibly fit the theme of this thread best, though. He's a slot cover guy when Savage and Amos are on the field, and great safety depth otherwise.
  23. Considering the situation in Milwaukee, I highly doubt anything is open in Milwaukee before Memorial Day. You're far more likely to see stuff in, say, Rhinelander open under a 50% capacity order.
  24. They're not considering chemo treatment a necessary procedure? If not, I question whether that hospital is correctly interpreting the guidelines for cancelling 'elective procedures'. And aren't the ICU/emergency room beds reserved for COVID patients right now, rather than ALL beds? Or is it a small-town hospital with limited resources?
  25. So many of these types of things have been able to adapt to online meetings. Is there an AA chapter that has successfully done so? I am not sure to tell you the truth. I will have to ask him. I just know they haven't been able to meet in their regular group in person. Understood. I'm hopeful a chapter will have a way to provide the support needed in a resourceful way during this time.
