  1. Wow, his injury didn't look like it was major at all- just looked to be a tweak or something. It should be interesting to see what the prognosis is on recovery time, as with surgery I wonder whether he'll be at full strength in February.
  2. Who cares about the Packers. Gotta love how the Packers are finally on the back burner here. It should be pointed out that despite the Brewers literally being in a must-win game last Sunday against the Cubs with the playoffs on the line, and also with it being a truly great and exciting game, they were completely destroyed in the ratings by the Packers playing a Tampa team that's not a rival and not a top team or anything like that by a 3 to 1 margin. http://www.jsonline.com/story/index.aspx?id=801155 This is still a football-first state, despite how wonderful the fan support has been for the Crew. I'm certainly eager to see the head-to-head numbers from both last night's Brewers/Badgers competition for viewers as well as today's Packer game.
  3. Here's a fairly interesting article on the issue: http://www.badgerbeat.com/news/article/id/307875
  4. Jenkins was "frustrated to see great players like Jeromy Burnitz, Richie Sexson, and Carlos Lee come up through the Brewers' farm system only to leave"? Guh. That'd mean more if any of those players actually came up through the Brewers' farm system, I guess.
  5. Camp Randall sounds very flat tonight, despite the fact that they're tied with Ohio State.
  6. Who in the hell goes down to the Camp Randall area, gets plowed with a lot of friends, then goes back home to actually watch the game before going out again after the games? ...cough.....
  7. Do you think this team can compete next year with Hall at 3B? No, which is why I've advocated going hard after Blalock in other threads. Not sure how good Gamel would be thrown into playing RF right away. I agree with Al- Braun is very good in left, it's not particularly fair to move him again now. If they do indeed trade Hart this offseason, it still seems likely that Gamel will be given a full season at AAA to figure out RF. Heck, a lot of people thought Braun would take some significant time to become a good LFer, but he's been great in left this year, so it's not unreasonable to think that Gamel could catch on fairly quickly.
  8. To be competitive in 2009, they're going to need to keep Hardy along with Braun and Fielder. I tend to agree. There's no way this team can compete next year with Escobar at short. Fielder is a bit more touchy, as I think they can trade him for pitching, and even if they get a decent 1B back (an Overbay-type), they could be passable there. So if we sing Hardy and move him to 3B to make room for Escobar at SS what do we do with Gamel? 1B or corner OF? I think it's becoming quite clear that at least one of Fielder or Hart will be moved in the coming 13 months or so, possibly this offseason. Gamel likely ends up playing the position of whichever one is moved. 3B really doesn't sound like it will/would be a serious option for him regardless.
  9. The last problem they had a few years ago the band was punished and took all the bad press, when a month or two later it came out that it was actually behavior on their trip by the assistant director that eventually got him fired. Hopefully it's not a situation where the students are made to pay for UW Employees' behavior this time around.
  10. I think Sam's club is the only place on the planet where you can buy a sweater, 5 pounds of corned beef, and a saxophone. Stop following me to Sam's Club! The sweater ran a little big.
  11. I have watched him play outfield in Huntsville & Nashville and as long as the ball is hit within a 10 foot circle of him he has a chance. Well, at least he'd be an upgrade from when Carlos Lee was out there, then.
  12. Al, I see what you're saying, but being 25 you don't have a ton of money you can 'lose'. I think Al meant in the 401k, not every cent he has.
  13. Don't forget merchandise. Yeah, between the absurd amount of CC 'jersey-shirts' they sold and now the huge rush on playoff gear, the acquisition certainly brought in a ton of revenue from that side of things.
  14. Being discussed here: http://forum.brewerfan.net/viewtopic.php?t=15849
  15. A place on the walk of fame at some point in the future, and a bobblehead next year regardless of where he ends up.
  16. Video now up on MLB.com. For Schroeder's reaction, click 'CC's gem' and it's at 1:11. http://mlb.mlb.com/news/g...=recap&fext=.jsp&c_id=mlb
  17. how about Rock screaming after the double play was turned. Say what you will about him, but he cares. And he expressed the same emotion we were all feeling at that very moment. No kidding. The guy has been the color guy practically since the last time the Brewers were good and has sat through almost every game of losing season after losing season without the inability to change the channel or get up and leave, when us as fans have had that luxiery. I'm sure for Schroeder, Uke, and Powell this is practically heaven.
  18. I was young when the Brewers were in the playoffs last, and all through JR High, High School, and even College was practically ridiculed for being a serious Brewer fan while they had terrible season after terrible season by classmates. Needless to say, this is a very, very nice day.

  21. Let me also say that CC Sabathia should win the NL CY Young, the NL MVP (super serious), and is a Brewer legend. I agree. He deserves a place on the walk of fame at some point for sure.
  22. Well, we had a "Where can I find CC gear?" thread a few months back, so how about doing the same for people not wanting to get playoff/wildcard gear from mlb.com?
