  1. Schoop is really starting to come on and the controlled year in 2019 looks nice. Just wondering if it's too late to buy low.
  2. Assuming Soria is going to be a rental, which I'd say at least 75% chance he will be, in this case no, trading Medeiros does indeed free up a 40 spot in the offseason. I think this trade might the ticket onto next year's roster for Quintin Torres-Costa, whereas otherwise he likely would not have made it. So if it helps, it may essentially be adding Soria now and Torres-Costa later for Medeiros + Perez might be the way they are looking at it. Not saying it's right or wrong, I really have a hard time seeing Medeiros go. Just spitballing on what their thought process might be.
  3. They were great the month he was out, and that was before Soria was here. Obviously it's better if he gets it going, but Corey Knebel isn't going to be the thing that prevents us from going somewhere. Unless they continue to try to force him into a conventional closer role, perhaps.
  4. If Jeffress deserves to lose his role, Knebel definitely deserves to lose his. That last inning notwithstanding Jeffress has had far better command this year.
  5. Inning would be long over if Saladino didn't suck at fielding.
  6. Brewers seem to do ok vs big names. It's the MLB debuts that kill us. Bumgarner has a career 2.25 ERA vs. Milwaukee. He owns us.
  7. At this point they need to go all out to secure this win. Obviously a nice impact of a big hit from Thames last inning would have been likely not needing Jeffress right now. Jeffress not putting two runners on base including the tying run for free to start the inning would have been helpful also.
  8. Let's see how he does first. Then let's not be surprised if we don't pick up his option. Again though, not a team option. Soria has to agree to it too.
  9. I think it's situational based on how much ground there is to cover in RF. If there's a lot of ground to cover, they use Yelich in RF and Thames in LF. Otherwise other way around.
  10. Saladino is a butcher. Wasn't he acquired for his glove?
  11. Yeah, I was kind of surprised, a couple of them but mostly not really much of a reaction. Braun gets worse treatment every time here.
  12. I wanted Arcia back up after his recent AAA success but it's obvious nothing has changed. The guy is just a terrible hitter.
  13. Preaching to the choir. Counsell is going to die on the "Knebel is the closer" hill which seems odd because he has shown the ability to manage the pen creatively.
  14. I expect a rousing ovation for Hader in San Francisco.
  15. Realmuto and Castro 5 hits between them tonight. Those two would solve 2/3rds of our offensive problems.
  16. You just never know with this offense if 1 run is all we're gonna get.
  17. Ehh. I realize Harvey has done better since going to Cincy but "better" in this case is just "bad" rather than "abysmal."
  18. Brad Ford is having a very bad last couple weeks. Is it just me or is that kind of messed up? You're messing with people's lives. Friends and family see stuff like that and start talking and then asking the player. If you're going to say a guy is being DFAed you damn well better be right.
  19. I feel like every time we pitch to the 8th hitter with RISP, 2 out and the pitcher on deck, we get burned by it.
  20. He's actually on the books through 2031, with 10 years of deferred salary. Ah. So we will have our very own Bobby Bonilla.
  21. On the books yes, but only $4M (buyout of his $15M option)
  22. Good, I want absolutely nothing to do with Hamels.
