Remember the old days of watching baseball when you knew immediately if a batted ball was a hit or an out? Now I always wonder for a split second "I wonder where they're shifting" and then the camera reveals the result.
Another consequence of not going with Burnes for another inning is that you need to now dip into the lesser part of your pen earlier. Williams is tough to trust right now. Hopefully he can turn it back around today.
Throwing 99 makes it tougher to punish mistakes. Have to make up your mind to swing earlier...Knebel will always get away with more mistakes than Suter or Davies or Albers. Right, absolutely. But if Eaton happens to be sitting dead red fastball, 99 can go a long ways.
Corey is lucky that 0-2 fastball right down the middle to Eaton didn't wind up in the right field beerpen. He was meh. Adams did him some favors. Sometimes you get away with it.
Don't understand why Arcia isn't back up. Even if he still doesn't hit, it's not like anyone is really getting it done in his absence, so at least get the good D. Best case he brings the bat he's been swinging lately too. He's been down long enough.
The thing is he wasn't even really that bad. Really shot himself in the foot with a couple walks and an error. Hope we can pull this out because it would definitely fall into the category of a game we probably should have won.
With Suter inevitably headed for the 60 day I would absolutely give his spot to Ramirez. Part LOOGY, part mop up guy, part bench bat. Tell me we couldn't use that on our team.
Anddd that's why we're struggling. Well, one of the numerous reasons. Bases loaded, 1 out, trailing by 4, chance to get back into the game, meat of the order up, and we fail.
Murphy has been terrible this year. If we're taking him the conversation needs to be along the lines of "We will give you nothing for him and how much money will you pay of his salary for us to take him off your hands."
1. Eric Thames (L) RF 2. Lorenzo Cain ® CF 3. Christian Yelich (L) LF 4. Jesus Aguilar ® 1B 5. Travis Shaw (L) 3B 6. Tyler Saladino ® SS 7. Brad Miller (L) 2B 8. Manny Pina ® C 9. Junior Guerra ® P Good to see both Thames and Aguilar back in there. This is probably our full strength "A" lineup.
That is about as certain as you're gonna get that "standing pat" is not gonna happen. Meh. I read it as typical GM speak. "There are going to be a lot of players traded over next week." (Yeah, obviously). "We're going to be active on a number of them." (Yeah, kind of figured.) Then he adds the disclaimer that you never know until you actually complete the trade. Not that there is anything wrong with what he said. I just don't read much into it other than that they don't INTEND to stand pat.
Lesser known, but FWIW these were the updated midseason 200 rankings from Prospects365. 14. Hiura 49. Burnes 123. Ray 143. Peralta 147. Dubon 191. Erceg
