  1. I hope he stays healthy and continues hitting bombs for another 2 months. Then I hope the Dodgers get excited, jump on him and give us more than we ever thought possible a week ago.
  2. Freddy Peralta struggled tonight with his command and baserunners. And he still gave up only 1 run in 5 innings with 7 K's. Nice to see him still be able to put in a solid outing on a night where he clearly wasn't at his best.
  3. I really hope they give Dubon a shot if Arcia goes on the DL. I am not super high on him but he is an excellent defensive shortstop. There is a chance he could come in and pretty much seamlessly cover short, and it's not like he has to hit much to match what Arcia was doing. Unfortunately I'm afraid even if they promote him he will ride the bench for Sogard or Perez most days.
  4. I would sure as heck hope Dubon is ahead of Saladino on the call-up pecking order. Me too. We already have 2 better versions of Saladino on the roster without adding a 3rd.
  5. Not good. Dubon may see his first callup. I hope its not serious and if it is I hope they don't plan on just covering with Sogard and Perez.
  6. Taylor Williams sporting some Hader'esque strikeout numbers. 18K/9.
  7. Not sure what you're asking for here, though. Ramirez is Brewers property for 2018. There's no need nor benefit to add Ramirez to the 40-man until he's needed to be added to the 25-man. Now if you're thinking about last fall when some here wondered if he should be added to prevent him from going elsewhere in minor league free agency, that was a valid discussion. As we now know, if Ramirez did have interest from other teams, he spurned that to return late on the minor league deal he's on. Yeah, that's what I'm saying with the last paragraph, they may prefer to have a guy in the 40th spot that is expendable. If you add Ramirez and need to clear his spot later, you risk losing him. But I get what you're saying and you're right, there's really no advantage to adding a guy like Ramirez to the 40 unless you plan on imminently adding him to the 25 also.
  8. I wonder if it's awkward when the batter wants to argue with the umpire but there's a language barrier.
  9. Yeah, I don't really get it. There's already a million jack of all trades, crappy hitting utility types on the 25, the 40, and in the farm. Perez and Sogard are on the 25. Dubon is on the 40, I would rather see him up if either of them got hurt. If they need to go deeper than that Nick Franklin is still hanging around in Biloxi. It seems like they are going a little overboard with mediocre players who can play anywhere. They have enough. I'd rather look for a guy with the last spot or two on the 40 that maybe isn't so versatile but can do one thing really well and help us with what they do well and be more than just injury insurance. Like Aguilar. Or if you insist on versatility try someone like Nick Ramirez who can hit and pitch. It seems like they prefer to acquire outside the organization for the last guy or two on the 40. Maybe so they can just check them out and not feel like they've lost anything when they throw them right back in the trash pile.
  10. We should have 3 or 4 runs right now. I hope these missed opportunities don't come back to bite us.
  11. Freddy Peralta really grinding tonight, definitely his toughest outing of the season, yet he's struck out 5 in 3 innings and only allowed 1 run.
  12. I would have liked it better if he hadn't finished it by swinging at ball 4 twice.
  13. Pretty disappointing to only get a run out of that inning. Every opportunity was there to put up a big number which might be needed tonight with Chacin on the mound.
  14. For whatever reason Counsell's rule is that Braun must bat 3rd whenever he starts, and Shaw must bat 4th.
  15. I really don't understand giving 40 man roster spots to relatively known quantities like Alec Asher and Saladino and not going with someone like Ramirez internally who is versatile in a totally different way than the many guys they already have who are only versatile in the field, whereas Ramirez is versatile in a very helpful way since you basically get 2 roster spots for the price of one. Unless they just really like having a 40th guy that they constantly flip and don't care about losing.
  16. I'm guessing Bandy starts today, Nottingham for Guerra on Sunday. But I hope it's Nottingham.
  17. Good stuff. Definitely exciting to read and a lot to be excited about for the pitching department right now. Thanks. I would say Peralta has to be one of our top two prospects named Peralta this last decade.
  18. So many memories of the Alec Asher era. Being claimed, being assigned to the Sky Sox, and finally being DFAed. Feels like it was all just days ago.
  19. Can someone a little more familiar with Freddy Peralta elaborate on how he is such a strikeout machine working in the high 80s-low 90s? I also see conflicting reports on his velocity with some saying he can touch the mid 90s. He's always been a nice lottery ticket arm but he's become more than that and something really seems to have "clicked" with him since the middle of last year. He's approaching Corbin Burnes territory.
  20. I think it's too early to tell what they plan to do when Logan returns. Logan may make Drake redundant, so it's not out of the question that they'd move on, and I think it's more likely than not that Suter ends up in the pen within the next month or two. They moved on from Hoover instead of optioning Williams. Williams' only problem right now is he's walking too many, but it's only been 5 innings. Other than that, I think he's been pretty much as advertised and you can definitely see his appeal.
